I just made my first raw almond milk milkshake. It is pretty good. I used 1 frozen banana, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, some almond milk, vanilla and agave. I really don't like bananas though and it still has that distinct really ripe banana flavor. Is there some other raw food I could freeze to give it the cold thick feeling? Frozen coconut meat perhaps? If there is no other solution I can live with bananas I just won't be drinking this so often. Maybe if freeze almond pulp and add more sweetener? The chocolate flavor of it is really good.

Thanks for you help

If I want a chocolate shake without the banana I make myself a nice sweet batch of chocolate almond milk (either sweetened with dates or honey), strain it if you like it really smooth (I do), then take it and put it in your electric ice cream maker until desired consistency (obviously it's not as thick as ice cream). Mine with the prefrozen pots take about 10 minutes to make a nice shake consistency. To me it's worth the wait sometimes for a banana free chocolate shake.

A ton of ice always gives a really really creamy texture!

i like to freeze chocolate hemp milk and almond milk in my ice cube trays and add them as needed to cool off my drinks!
for a fuller milkshake, i add raw cashews and a dash of raw honey; really thickens things up! other than that, i just toss my drink in the fridge or freezer for a bit before drinking to cool them off. enjoy! ;)

How about thickening it with a small handful of cashews and some ice cubes, or just ice cubes?

That reminds me of Ginger's Best Coffee EVER. Only with almond milk instead of all the specialty ingredients. http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=29006&highlight=coffee

i make a very similar shake, and usually throw in an avocado! mmmm :D probably the best way to thicken it up too!

Use an avocado and some ice instead of the frozen bananas. Add more agave when using the avocado.

So it's ok to use cocoa powder? Sorry -- I'm newbie here, and that just sounds too good to be true. :)

raw cocoa powder. I bought mine at a health food store. It was $12 for 8 oz but I am so happy to have it!! I mix it with a little honey and I can dip strawberries in it! It has that dark chocolate flavor.
