View Full Version : What do you consider successfully raw? Raw made easy-er Part 2

Well so I got past the percentage idea, as in, I have to be 100 percent raw or bust, defeat, guilt, beat self up now stuff. [B]Accepted my journey exactly as it goes ,how it goes, whatever it looked like, whatever I ate. whatever I felt like or looked like. Loving myself exactly where I am and exactly where I am not.[ /B] Really I got clear,i t wasnt about percentages but rather about loving myself healthily to want more for my life, more for my body and also a vibrancy and energy to life.

How did I get here? Enter the affirmations. There is no question that what we think about is what we get, whether we want it or not. If we think hate for instance, thats what shows up in our life. Thats what we see and draw to. If we think love, the same is true. Love is everywhere and joy and happiness.

What we picture in our minds eye becomes our reality. If we can put ourselves in the future we want, see ourselves there,we can be there.
Apply this to raw. If someone likes percentages and wants to be 100 percent raw and that is an affirmation statement and a goal to be attained, they will get there. They may even say "I am 100 percent raw" and truly mean it. Because it is where they see themselves. Seeing themselves there will get them there.

What you focus on grows. If you are focusing on good health and the food you eat meeting your body needs for repair and rejuvenation, it will happen. EVEN IF IT IS OCCAISIONALLY A COOKED FOOD. Yes thats what I said. Why? because your goal is great health. Your mind is telling your body that we want good health. Your mind says health is on its way. Your mind says,we are raw(percent or not) and healthy. And the body, in that mindset, begins to respond accordingly, jumps for joy and produces good health. Where the mind goes, the body follows-its science.

The body will heal and repair and make its way along the path IF we set our mind that we are there. Eventually, in this state of mind helping body.,[ B]the body no longer wants cooked foods. They dont taste good. They dont feel good. The body reacts to them. Then we are no longer drawn to them.

Set a parameter for what you want for your health. See it, feel it, what does it look like, feel like, act like, want to do now thats energizing and vibrant? Imagine it as close as you possibly can. If you hold a picture in your mind and hold it long enough, you will become exactly what you have been thinking.

Mistakes, slipping up, total cooked disasters? Ones who dont make mistakes are ones not doing anything. And mistakes in raw eating are only your teacher to show you what results you get when you do this and what results you get when you do that. Why beat yourself for learning?

Guilt and all that goes with it is self defeating. "To make peace with an enemy, one must work with that enemy and that enemy becomes ones partner". Embrace your choices for food. Whatever they are. Who of you, depriving yourself of something, sees themselves wanting it every minute. ? Embrace it and it will go away.

Raw life is a process, one step at a time. Honor it. Love it as you will never pass this way again. Oh and if you want to , document it because it will be an obvious transformation!!!!

Love yourselves, make peace with the enemy(cooked arrrgh) and it will all be just fine. Congratulations each and every one of you for wherever you are at in this journey. What a profound step you have taken for your health. And thank you cooked food for it got me where I am today and may still "help" me out once in a while as a reminder!!!!!

Oh and what do you consider successfully raw? Look in the mirror because you are looking at success...you are a success already!!!!

Thanks Artgirly for a beautiful post!!!

What a lovely supportive post to read today. Thanks for taking the time to post this here, dear wise woman. I need to read it daily and let it permeate my being. It so easy to let the negative, self-critical (and ultimately self-sabotaging) voice in my head take over. But reading your post which rings so true is a wonderful way stay positive.

This whole forum, and all of the participants here, are all so positive and supportive. And your words really sum up the vital inner peace/piece of the process of traveling down this enlivening road with compassion for ourselves along the way. No matter where we may be on the journey in each particular moment.

Rawesome!!!

wow, Artygirl, thank you so much for that very priomising and inspirational post!!!
i feel very successful about not murdering to survive. i feel positive about eating natural things and not "pretend" food anymore.
i do feel afraid that the results i am striving for (healing my MS and all its symptoms!) wont happen. for me this is a huge leap of faith. i have wrestled with being impatient, and that impatience has WAY subsided (b/c of this list and all its positiveness!), but still i am afraid that this wont work. i know the drugs dont work, so if raw doesnt "cure me", i feel like i have nowhere to turn. for me, giving up all meds and etc, . .it is such a "put all your eggs in one basket" plan--but this basket is so much more SANE than the SAD food (being inappropriate) coupled with the whole medical field/DRUGS that destroy more than they heal. but sometimes i do feel like i am going on faith and hearsay alone....which makes it scary.
yes, i am seeing small improvements daily and i try to focus on what's better and not what's the same (or fluctuates on and off being worse). these fears dont help me i realize.
i will print your post Artygirl and read it whenever i feel doubtful! thank you!

(i still would like to hear of miraculous healing results and time-lines anyone experienced with a debilitating dis-ease!)

& to the OP, "success" for me will be feeling better, consistently. getting stronger so i can ride with confidence. and tell my neuro that i have been off the stupide immuno suppressant meds for XX time and am doing wonderfully!! that will be TRUE success for me--enduring and solid success. i am not there yet but i am onmy way.
this is a great, positive thread!!

Jen,please focus on how it IS working(instead of afraid it wont work)...you are healing on a cellular level as we read...haha

From what I have understood.M.S. has been created and accentuated with sticky, glutenous food.Bread. Sticky glue, much like gum in your hair...haha, takes time to get out and un-do.

Jen,please honor the process, trust the process and SEE it,imagine it ,healing your body, one sticky cell at a time.

And just think, all you need to do is eat as much yummy living food as you want and your amazing body will do the rest. wow!!!

neuro that i have been off the stupide immuno suppressant meds for XX time and am doing wonderfully!! that will be TRUE success for me--enduring and solid success. i am not there yet but i am onmy way.

I will be happy to hear of this soon....that you tell your dr this.I am pulling for you.
On a side note..I love love love horses. The little boy I watch loves them too and we go to a riding stable and see them and feed them organic(of course) apples. This week, they have a baby there. Well 8 months old. Shes a beauty. Her eyes struck me. So young and fresh and the eyelashes. OH MY.
We have a fave there. His name is Kentucky. He was a game horse and I could tell. He was as fun as could be. He ran inside the fence with us, as we ran outside along the fence, back n forth. I love his spiritedness.
Best of everything Jen

dear artygirl, thank you for the encouragemt and hope!
i focus every day on honoring the process and i am so thankful even that i am HAVING a process, b/c i was on the weekly injections for years and while they DID keep symptoms at bay, God only knows what ELSE they did to me. the medical field offers no options to its harmful treatments. all of their meds treat the symptoms and never the ROOT of the prob. its all about an instant fix.
my horses are my life. we bred QH for yrs but gelded our stallion last march. while i DO miss the foals, it is FAR less wk and at 44 (next month) i needed to streamline. less is more for sure! my website is www.ruffsongranch.com . glad the boy you watch loves them--they are so beautiful. happy that you have access to enjoy them. my husb is a teacher but also a farrier on the side and he has noticed a calmer attitude from his client's horses since going raw--b/c they can smell what you eat and now he smells less like a predator!! funny the unexpected results from raw....
i will continue to be patient and look for positive things and envision perfection and health. i believe i would be FAR WORSE if i had not gone raw on january 23! my neuro said "try it for a month and then go back on the meds..." yah....right. i sure dont miss a shot in my butt every week!!
thx so much!!

Oh thankx for sharing. Are you off meds totally now.?

ruffsongraw
03-20-2009, 10:27 AM
yes Artygirl,
no meds at all. no tylenol, aspirin---no Avonex (the interferon beta which is the immune suppressant injection i was getting once a wk). i threw out all the cold meds i had, all the cough syrup, nyquil, etc--not like i was a junkie, but you accumulate that stuff over time. probably most was expired anyhow (haha).
i havent had an injection of that crap since January 18th. AND i stopped coloring my hair (omg--steel gray is growing in!!) and changed to an SLS free shampoo.... just trying to eliminate anychemicals or substances i could be sensitive to. trying to help the healing process.
i am SO thankful that my husb and family are TOTALLY supportive. anyone who is struggling with lack of support/understanding or tolerance--i cant imagine how much more difficult it would be to stay raw if i had to COOK for them. my husb agreed to have 1 cooked meal a week and to cook it himself--it includes meat usually for that one meal. our son (15) eats it too. but i DONT. he cleans it all up too. so i dont have to be near it at all. i just eat a gigantic & yummy salad!
so thankful to everyone on this list. it is so helpful & inspirational.
all the support & info/advice and really NON-judgmental!!

Your posts really help keep me focused and keep me going. It is so hard to be taking this journey on my own, in a household with 4 others who all want to stay SAD. Thank you! :)

After having DH read the excerpt from The China Study, he bought me the book and told me to read it for him since he doesn't have time. He has already agreed that a vegan diet is probably the healthiest, and that raw fruits and veggies are healthier than cooked. He admits that he wants to dig his heels in because he "lives" for meat. But has agreed to slowly transition meat and dairy out of the family's diet, and to eat more of our fruits and veggies raw. I'm hoping with some baby steps the rest of the family will eventually catch up with me. Forced conversion doesn't work, so I'll just keep offering and taking baby steps, lol.

my husband eats raw all week--really, but b/c our son isnt really convinceed yet, so my husb agreed to cook 1x a week....one week he cooked the food but didnt eat it afterwards! my husb is really getting into it--the D, and experimenting with recipes..etc. he feels a lot better. we'll see if that once a week thing lasts!
we have on order a Blendtec and i think that will open more options up and make cooked food less tempting... i am more easily satisfied by a huge sald and then later some avocado/tomatoe!
when they eat SAD i am already done and full OR i go outside and play with animals. the smell really bothers me. it does smell good...when will it STOP smelling good?? haha..

the smell will eventually make you feel sick.Well at least it did(still does) for me.
Every other week my downstairs neighbor has his kids over and makes (what smells like) steak.OH MY>>>>it fills my whole apartment with steak.Makes me sick. Dead animal carcass filling my glorious green smell apt with stink.
I will remedy this(as you n I have talked).
