My mom has decided to go 100% and is asking about her diabetic medication and whether she should take it or not. I remember Alissa posting something awhile back in regards to someone who had asthma and were told not to take antibiotics because it would interfere with what the system was trying to do. But I cannot find it after doing the search :( Does anyone know where I can find that so I can send the link to my mom? And does anyone have an answer to that - about stopping the medication? I would assume not to take it so the body will naturally get rid of everything in it...but I don't want to answer this question or tell my mom anything until I hear from some of you first...

You have asked a very loaded question and asthma is just not the same. I am a tyle II diabetic, and I do not advise anyone to just stop their medication. The best answer is, wait and see if her body tells her that she needs the medication through her daily testing. Take those results to the Dr, because after 30 days - even 20 days raw, she should notice a lowering of her blood sugar readings. I say don't stop until... because she may cause herself damage.

On the flip side, I stopped my mediciations and was doing well until some stressors came about with my physical body and I had to resume them, but less. As I continue this journey, just completing a 30 day fast, and eating 100% raw, I am noticing some blood level changes, but am not in the posture to eliminate them totally YET!! but soon, I think.

What type of diabetic is your mother, is she insulin dependent or pill dependent - does she exercise, is she in stressful sitautions, does she have a good medical doctor who is interested in her coming off of mediciation ( that is very important - as my physican is very interested in my discontinuting these medication). In Alissa's book, she had a client who was able to change, but again, it was not done immediatley.

One thing I will suggest to her, is to take her blood sugar readings far more frequently and record everything. I guess, I am saying, it is not a good idea yet to stop her meds, until her body has had time to adapt and please ask her to be patient - taking her medications will not interfer with her body adapting to raw, eventually, as she continues, she will know when the time is.
