What do you do with them? I've never seen one out of a newton. :D I have a bunch of them...can they be used in recipes that call for dates?

Well at least you have seen one, even through Mr. Newton. What do you do with them besides eat them as they are? They are an excellent Sweetener in Recipes. I mostly just pop them as candy.

Fresh or dried? Fresh I just eat them(although haven't had one in ages), dried I soak them and eat them or use them in recipes. Yes, you can use them like you use dates, just blend them up until smooth.

Fresh figs instead of dates? Really? I must have gotten a bad batch of fresh figs! They looked beautiful, but they were not sweet at all. In fact, they tasted like tomatoes!

You might want to taste a fresh one plain and then decide what to do with it.

The organic ones I got from Whole Foods pretty much had no taste at all.

They're fresh and I had some with lunch. They are so good! I also found two recipes in Alissa's book that have figs. :)
