Okay, I have only been eating raw for almost 2wks and although I'm feeling the benefits of it, it is kicking my butt. My mornings start off great but as the day goes on my head starts hurting, I'm terribly tired and believe it or not I'm constipated and I'm doing a colon cleanse. I've also noticed that I've been coughing up mucus and now today I have a sore throat and although this doesn't feel like a real cold I'm feeling just sick. Today I made an appt. for a colonic b/c I know nothing else to do but ride it through.
I'm sorry but I have no one else to tell b/c I have no support going raw from family and friends. This detox is nothing nice. I feel horrible.:(

(((HUGS))) Just keep yourself hydrated, go easy on yourself and ride it through. You'll be fine and when you come out of this detox you will feel better than you have in years!

You could be simply getting a cold too. It's going around and it's hitting pretty hard!

check out the Master cleanse b4 u spend lots of money on colonics and bottled colon cleansers. it will also detox u faster and give ur tastebuds a better appreciation of fresh produce. idk if ur looking to shed lbs too, but u will CERTAINLY drop a few sizes as u cleanse ur whole body deeply on a cellular level as well. the detaox symptoms on the MC usually only last until the next day's elimination. I commend you and welcome aboard!

Definitely keep the colon clean, that will make detox so much easier.

though i understand your point, Rawsugargal has be raw for two weeks, one can only catch a cold if their immune system is down. in two weeks she has already built it up so my opinion is that the probability of it being a cold is rather slim.
I've also never heard of a cold with headache and mucous without a cough (unless one has quit smoking and their lungs are clearing.)
Keep at it, doll! You're kicking ass, and i am almost certain you will be feeling amazing in no time!! When i first went raw, i was 20 (22 now) after my first detox period i feel like i was high every moment lol, an e-type high  but without the three-day comedown lol :o

Just logged in on my tiny teabreak especially to give you hugs!
Try to tough it out, you will come out on the other side SO MUCH BETTER for the effort. It does sound like some detox, something many people go through at about two weeks.
You can ALWAYS come to this forum for support, we hear and understand, some of us feel like freaks in our reall world lives too!
Keep it up darls, I'm impressed!

Aw!!! Hugs!! You can make it through this, really!!
I know it's hard, but... maybe it'll help to think of it this way: if you feel like you're dying, it's only the old, sick, cooked self of you that's dying... every painful feeling is just that sickness LEAVING your body. I know it's hard to be grateful for it right now, but you really are giving yourself such a gift! Keep positive, keep telling yourself that you love yourself and remember that's why you're doing this in the first place. You'll look back on this and thank yourself for sticking it out!! :)

You'll manage! Kudos to you for keeping your colon clean,-it's so important and makes things SO much easier. You'll be fine soon. Just take it easy and remember that it'll pass. Take care, Eva

Thanks so much for the hugs, support and advice. I'm feeling better this morning my sore throat went away, but the mucus is still coming out. I have no intention of giving up now. I had no idea that I would be on an emotional roller coaster. My emotions were so raw yesterday I was feeling so many things at once and the feelings were so intense I wanted to cry but thought against it. It's interesting that this is not just physical detox but a mental one as well.

I know just how you are feeling! Detox can be awful (and was for me). I felt like something was wrong and really began to second guess my decision to go raw. However, with the support of folks on here, in combination with the fact that this diet just makes a lot of sense to me, I decided to hang in there too- glad I did!
The good news is, with my detox experience anyway, you feel AWFUL, but it goes away MUCH more quickly than it would if you were not raw and detoxing, but just sick. What is 'sick', anyway? It's our body trying to get rid of something that doesn't belong there. So, ride it out- let it all come out. Be HAPPY that it's coming out! Mucous can take a little longer to get rid of, but once it's gone it's great.
If your diet was high in refined sugars, dairy, etc., there are chances that you had much more mucous in your system to start with (even in GI tract).
Glad your sore throat went away! Hang in there. Ginger, onions, garlic, citrus are all great for expectorating (if that's a word) mucous.
I look forward to a post in the near future, when you're feeling great! Hang in there : )

make sure you're drinking PLENTY of water and get lots of rest!! I know some say exercise is great, but I found that rest was the best answer for me and exercise only made it harder for me during detox (though it may have sped up the process).

Your doing great. Please keep it up. I went though the same thing. I felt like I had the flu for a week or more. Then it started to ease up some and then I got tired and nausous again. Seeing all that is taking place lets me know that I need to go through the storm to see the light. I have been fine on and off but my detox comes in waves now. I have only been raw for almost a month. You can do it to and your body will love you for it. I have gotten so much support from this board. I ask questions and they answer. I had a post about being so tired the other day and got tons of support from here. Please know we are here for you. You can do it. I came from a SAD diet so my detox has been rough but I feel so much better now.

That's so great! You're halfway there with that kind of positive attitude!
I had some emotional detox, I think we all do. It reminds me of watching someone emotionally detox on the DVD Simply RAW: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days. The lady just wanted to go home and give up, she angrily said she didn't know what was wrong with her. Then she got through it! It was definitely a case of emotional detox.
What a terrible thing to go through ON TOP of the physical detox eh? But I reckon it makes us stronger, more balanced people in the end. Definitely did for me!
Let us know how you are doing! :)

I've been on Raw since April 2008 (almost one year) - I still experience emotional/spiritual and if I start eating any cooked foods again, I'll go through a brief physical detox as well.
But - let me tell you why I stick with it!
When I am RAW...
...my mind is clear, my skin is clear, my attitude is more positive, and my weight is stable and healthy...
...my energy level is HIGH, my hypoglycemia is NON-EXISTENT, my migraines/headaches are ELIMINATED, and my hair is soft...
So many reasons to stick with it!!!
*hugs*
