Fermented foods are very healthy. They basically work the same as probiotics. Only then the foods have the lactic acid in them, which makes it more whole, which I consider more healthy.
We do consider those products important and are using them daily. The amount you have to find out for yourself, as this is very different for many people. Some also have to start really slow with it when their bodies aren't used to it.
We use various types of kraut etc. daily. Basically with every meal we have something fermented. Either kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, kimchi, cortido, tsukemono, atjar, yoghurt or so. We are soy free, so no natto or so.

I'd go for fermented foods I make myself over probiotics any day, if replenishing good bacteria is a concern. :) Which it's not. :p

OMG I love me some saurkraut.

Now if I can only make the raw vegan version of a bratwurst! Any recipes out there?

I bought a jar of Bubbies saurkraut at the food co-op this weekend. Haven't opened it yet (not hungry enough), but it is a raw saurkraut! :)
