I've had 'incidents' this last week with bread/bread products. I have ordered a dehydrator so plan to make my own bread but not sure if there is a reason for these bread cravings and a better way to fight them.

I had a bagel today and now I feel gross.

I have pondered this recently (I have always loved bread) and I think, for me anyway, it's not about the bread so much as what I put on it. Because the thought of eating a piece of bread plain does not throw me into cravings. So, I stop and ask myself ... is it butter I'm craving, I'll have something fatty like an avocado or nuts ... is it something sweet I'm craving like PB&J, I'll make myself something like applemeal with the fruit and nut butter ... is it something like cream cheese, I'll make myself a nice nut spread and stuff it into celery (the recipe for Rich Cheddar sauce is good for this). And so on. You may genuinely crave bread but for me this method seemed to work.

Blessings,
Heather

Better to eat Manna Bread than bagels. (Google it.) It comes frozen in a lot of health food stores and organic grocery stores. Not raw, but it is sprouted and cooked at low temp. If you can't make a clean break with bread it might be a good transition food for you. I used to eat it with almond butter and fresh raspberries.

OH! I have manna bread in my freezer right now. I didn't even think about it.

As for what I put on bread... nothing. I just love bread. Plain bagels are my favorite.

At first, I was having huge cheese and bread cravings. They were the foods that I indulged the most in when living a SAD diet. While transitioning, I did my best to stay away from them. It was the hardest for me when I would have to prepare food for others. This was the cause of my only slip up, (two weeks raw) and oh boy did I pay for it. I didn't mentally beat myself up but my body sure did reject the food.

I'm almost at my one month mark and am now 100% raw. I'm very happy to say my cheese and bread cravings are gone!

Flax crackers helped me a ton with these cravings. So cheers to the dehydrator you're getting. As mentioned above, avocados are also a big help for me. But when I'm eating avocados as a snack, I like to coat them with my raw vegan Seasoning by Lydia's Organics. (I get it at Wholefoods raw section.) It gives the avocado slices a breaded feel and it's a quick, filling and most of all yummy snack.

I can sooooo relate!!! I've never been a big bread person but the past two weeks, I sure's heck have been  It's ridiculous... I knew I was the type of person to need a dehydrator (don't have it yet)...this surprised me though! I guess it just goes to show I know my tastes pretty well. It'll be much better when I get a dehydrator, then I can make the onion bread and all the other yummies I've been wanting :D Until then, I'm trying not to go too nuts on it...

Seems people crave bread, potatoes, pizza and pasta and crunchy foods like chips and popcorn.
Yes manna bread or sprouted ezekiel is way "better than" the other baloon bread. Also frozen is best as it is put in the bags soon after cooking and frozen. The rest sit in bags and immediately begin to mold.ugh.Not the kind of green I want to take in.
Cravings so away with green smoothies, lots. Also as you get more and more into raw and your body eliminates more toxic stuff,it begins to no longer be able to handle cooked stuff.
SO,no worries,Its ok exactly as it is.You are doing great.Keep going.

I agree, wheat in particular is addictive. I've been 99% gluten free for years and I still like the smell of freshly baked bread.

I think flax crackers will be a good subsitution for you or maybe sprouted bread.

I had a problem with this when I transitioned. There are times when I still want it and I ignore the craving. I guess its part of growing up with Italian carb lovers on the house. :) Ha ha.

Forgot to say.Bread in china(I think it china) the word used for bread translates PAIN. Glutenous sticky fluff n stuff causes so much inflamation and havoc in the body.Wheat today isnt wheat like it used to be.Source of alot of illnesses.
