My first question! I bought my blender (champhp3) and got a hamidown juicer (with many parts missing :( ). But I'm just not ready to dish out a bunch of money on a dehydrator. But I'd like to try making some of the recipes that require a dehydrator. Has anyone ever used their oven instead. What do you all with experience think? Thanks!

People have used their ovens, but you need to maintain close to 100 degrees with some circulation (fan). Some people make things with intentions to dehydrate and eat it before they put in the dehydrator. The food will taste the same, just be wetter, if you don't dehydrate. Plan on making the recipe, and spoon into lettuce leaves or collard greens or something similar and roll up.

Hope this helps.

I think this has been asked before ~ a few times. Here's one link. If ya goes up to the 'nana, I'm thinking there might be more although not sure. Hope this answers your question ~ http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4882&highlight=oven+dehydrating

thanks for the quick reply. just checked my oven and it's lowest temp is 150. I wasn't even thinking about the below 118 degrees rule. I'll have to look into the pilot light thing though. Hey it's so hot out maybe I'll just stick the food on my balcony!

For many years, people have deydrated using the sun. Make sure you have some kind of net over the food, to keep bugs away.
