found some raw organic coffee beans and bought a few pounds. tried a tbsp in my shake this morning. an hour later i had an incredible amount of energy!! so much that my hands are shaking and i feel my heart going crazy.. so i think i did take a bit too much! do you think that even though it is a totally natural source of caffeine/energy, taking it regularly might still not be the best thing? i don't want to have to rely on anything for energy. maybe having just a tsp in the morning might be ok?

are you addicted to coffee and if so did it give you your coffee fix?

I don't know what all you had in your shake, but if you had fruit, maybe it's the combination of sugar and caffeine that is making you jittery.
I don't know anything about raw coffee beans, but I figure caffeine is caffeine, raw or not.

Don't know about raw beans I never aquired a taste for brewed coffee. My question is do the raw beans taste like coffee?

i've actually never had coffee before! getting the beans was my fiancee's idea (she used to love coffee), so i figured since they're raw and organic, i'd give them a try. they don't really have much of a taste at all. i don't think they taste anything like coffee. the beans are very hard. we put them in the coffee grinder first, then into the vitamix. i'm soaking some right now to see if that helps.

Just because it's "natural" doesn't make it healthful! Your adrenal glands were getting a (not-so-good) workout when your heart was pumping like crazy and the caffeine was on its way out of your body.
Our adrenal glands don't do us much good when we really need them if they get taxed from sugar, caffeine, and even too much stress or anxiety. We want them to be in great shape so that we can handle a real emergency or stressful situation with ease.
Now, it's your body, and you may have a relaxed and easy life, not take in much stressful situations, stay hydrated, etc... in which case, it wouldn't affect you as much as someone like me. I am in school full time at night (massage therapy) + yoga teacher training on the weekends + high-stress corporate job + previous coffee addiction and long-term ADHD medication usage. Soooo, my poor adrenal glands need me to be nice to them and stay away from caffeine and to take life as easy as humanly possible.
It's not ideal -- but, if you want to justify it AND/or simply enjoy it, it's YOUR body and YOUR enjoyment. Of course... there are lots of "ideal enjoyments". I'll leave those to your imagination. Lots of options out there don't tax the body but instead leave it for the better! ;)
By the way, having worked at 3 coffee shops, one including a 5-year stint at Starbucks and another where we actually roasted the green beans ourselves... and I've never actually met someone who was willing to have raw coffee beans.
Could you humor me and tell me about the experience?? :) :o

haha.. well honestly i found the taste pretty much neutral. when i added them to my shake it didn't change the flavor at all... it was just like adding flax or chia. i agree with you on the beans being not so beneficial even though they are natural. i'm not going to add it to my daily foods. i'll just stick to taking things like phytoplankton, e3, wheat grass juice if i need an energy boost!
Good to know! I'm so glad to hear that because I am pretty committed to staying OFF my coffee addiction. And I did love the taste once upon a time.
I've got to try the E3Live one day now!! And get back on growing wheatgrass. Thanks for the reminder! I think something is missing for me these days, and that may help. :)
on the topic of coffee it is very difficult to come across a general consensus. one source will say it's high in antioxidants, another will also discuss the detriment to adrenal function, another will say it increases the risk of parkinsons tremendously, then the other will say it decreases joint and muscle stiffness to aid in parkinsons, and expressing the complete opposite, an inverse relationship between consumption and disease. it's a mixed bag, like most things. personally, i don't drink it, but i wish there existed an actual answer
