Has anyone tried eating brown rice sprouts?

I will try and see what happens, because I also miss rice. I tried soaking and eating it, with inconclusive results.

I've never tried soaking and sprouting Brown Rice. Let me know what happens.

rice is already parched-therefore no living energy to sprout. :(

I have sprouted it before (some do get little tails on them, so I know they were live). It tasted terrible to me..too chalky and hard.

I have sprouted brown rice. It takes a while to sprout and remains rather hard. I only use it when there is nothing else in the house to eat. It isn't unbearable but it isn't my favorite and it is so chewy it takes a long time to eat. I also tried blending up the sprouted rice and then dehdrating overnight on 100. It kind of tasted like a chalky saltine, but it crumbled easily. It wasn't my thing, but it wasn't bad. The best rice I have found for this purpose is that blend Lundeburg makes of all different rices including wild. Try that with seaweed in it. It is good but crunchy and not really anything like cooked rice. Either that or try Wehani rice.

good luck with it and let us know how you like it.

btw, you just can't use quick rice or white rice.

I soaked some brown rice overnight and ate it with cider vinegar and curry powder. Not as tasty as cooked rice, but tolerable. Very chewy, but edible. Its digestibility remains to be seen.

is it too hard to be blended with a smoothie?

If soaked for 12 hours or more, it could probably be blended. But why would you want to? It is not much fun to eat uncooked rice. It would not add much flavor to a smoothie.

I can't say that I have tried it, but I have heard of others doing that.
If it's not just rice you are looking for, why not order some kelp noodles? I've heard they're quite nice, http://www.kelpnoodles.com/about_us_faq.html

i thought since rice is filling n inexpensive, it could be a cheap source of food.

But if it's too hard to eat sprouted brown rice, I guess it could be blended. Or if it's too hard to be blended, it could be first ground into a powder.
