freezing question

just wondering if anyone has frozen avacados?

i did!!! someone posted about this the other day in the fasting thread i think... that they had some they didn't want to waste and someone (i think it was lucy) said she freezes them as is and when she defrosts them they are perfect!

yes, i cut mine in half, peel them and remove the pit. i freeze the avocado halves with the pit in the bag. i read about someone doing that on here. when they are defrosted they turn out great!

I'm another one that freezes avocados. I remember buying frozen guacamole at Costco, so I gave it a try.

I simply peeled, removed seed and smooshed with a fork. Placed them in a food saver bag (unsealed), let it freeze overnight and then sealed the frozen avo. Tastes great - I love doing things like this that will help extend our food budget. *Ü*

No. I freeze them whole, skin and seed intact.

Well this is good to know. I'm gonna have to try it. I love avocados and eat them often, but end up getting non-organic ones a lot of the time because of where I live. This way I can buy a bunch organic ones and freeze them.

How long do they last in the freezer? (I probably don't have to worry too much about this tho, cuz I eat them almost daily!) :)

I've had some in there for months.

I also freeze bananas WITH the peel on. To thaw? I put into a jar with lukewarm water, then slice open the top and plop banana into my FP or blender. They stay LOTS whiter...AND untouched by human hands!!!

oh ok...i had always peeled before freezing. good to know that the avocados will turn out fine freezing with the peel!
