View Full Version : Will a 50/50 raw diet help before fasting?

Hello everyone,
In the past I have tried an all fruit fast before, but failed after barely a day because of the "hunger pangs" and intense headaches and dizziness I got. That was 2 years ago though, when I wasn't on any "diet" at all and ate practically all fast food all the time and just stopped abruptly to fast. 40 lbs lighter and two years later, I have been vegan for nearly a year and about a 50% raw vegan for the last 2 months or so. I am wanting to try to do a fruit fast again, maybe for 3 days to start, then build up, but I'm worried about getting all of those same horrible side effects like before. Has anyone gone on a fast before vs after a healthy eating style? I am hoping my body will tolerate the fast much better now that I have been treating it better for awhile. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

chances are you will do better this time but hey, detox is and detox does as detox does.

;) after all, it's a big reason why we do this right?

i wish you very very well on this fast!

I agree with Aleesha. I have completed three fasts ranging from 10 days to 16 days. I have noticed that my easier fasts were after my general diet improved. I did my first two fasts during the time that I was eating a sugar-free, caffeine-free mostly wheat-free vegan diet. My detox symptoms were not too bad. My third fast was at the beginning of this year and during that time I was eating A LOT of sugary vegan treats, drinking coffee and indulging in more vegan pizza than anyone should. :o I kind of fell off the healthy band-wagon and fell hard (I gained 15 pounds so at least it was a cushioned fall). I was bound and determined to stick to the fast no matter what, but it was difficult the first few days as my body got rid of all of the vegan junk food had eaten over the past few months. By about about day 4 or 5 I felt pretty good. Of course everyone is different, but I would imagine that you will feel better this time around. Besides, I know that if you really want to, you can do this. Good Luck!

I remember my first completed 14 day water fast. I had burritos and Chinese take out the day prior. :) The side effects were horrible but only lasted 2 days. So not too bad. I was also working and studying to boot.

Water enemas help with detox. I swear by them even while fasting after having been high raw for years. A reusable one can be had for less than $20 with a lifetime warranty. Just add pure water.

Also, lots of fresh air. Very refreshing. The results of the fast are well worth the 2-3 days of pain. You get years of really enjoying life.

Goodluck. Fasting is the best and least expensive cure there is for almost EVERYTHING, hehe. :D
