OK, so today is my first day RAW and loving it!!!
My question is this...This was the first time I used my dehydrator. I cut up some bananas and apples last night and put them in for about 15 hours on 105 degrees F. They are still a little mushy and rubbery? Not very tasteful but I shoved them in my mouth anyway b/c I dont want to waste them.
How do I get them crispy? And how can I fix these? I don't knowwhat I did wrong and I really don't want to waste them.
Thanks!

You can dehydrate them longer to get them harder HOWEVER you should be aware that store bought "dried" bananas are also cooked (fried, if I'm not mistaken).

If you don't like them plain save them for making cereal or granola. I used to buy Lydia's Grainless cereal. It was sprouted, dehydrated buckwheat grouts with chopped dried fruits and nuts. Delicious with sweetened almond milk.

OH OK Gotcha!!! Thank you....
As for the store bought Lydia's granola...Forgive me for being naive but they do sell sprouted cereals I can buy instead of make?

http://www.lydiasorganics.com/ My fav is the Grainless Apple Cereal. Soaked, sprouted, raw.
You might find them locally, but I'm not sure where in your area. I found them at Whole Foods, Raw Vegan Source, and Grawnola Market. There are 7 servings in a bag for about $9. That's why I'm thinking about making my own.

OH MY GOODNESS! Thank you so much. THis is ALL NEW TO ME...I am going to look at it now.
By the way, should I stay away from sprouted grains if I want to lose weight? Or can I have a bowl w/almond milk or something? I do enjoy a smoothie w/fruit for bfast and a salad for dinner so should I do somehting like that for lunch? Will I still lose weight?
ANy other tips would be great....I have a great recipe for granola and all, I might look into making it myself as well but I wasn't sure if I should eat that if I want to lose?

HA! Someone else will have to answer. Or maybe the answer is don't take any tips from me about losing weight. I haven't lost any since about September, but a little exercise might solve that problem.

LOL....I am trying so hard w/fruits and veggies and I am going to the gym also...so hopefully doing that will help.....
OH and note to self...don't dehydrate bananas AGAIN! LOL I am literally making myself eat them LOL I love store ones, but ofcourse fried and all sorts of bad....I don't like banana as a fruit, only in breads, muffins or dried...LOL
So, next week I will get peaches and stuff...LOL It's all trial and error..LOL
THANKS SO MUCH!

Yum, peaches! Do tell how that turns out. Red sweet pepper strips come out nice, if you like them. They get chewy, not crispy. The sweetness and flavor is concentrated in the process.

OH OK, great to know, I LOVE PEPPERS...I will get peaches this weekend and dehydrate them and let you know
I looked at the ingredients on a banana chip package once. It was something like "bananas, canola oil, natural flavor, yellow # whatever, sugar, salt."
Bummer, eh?
Buuut, you can make fruit rollups with bananas if you're into that. :) You just blend them and put the liquid on a Teflex sheet in the D. You can use this as a wrap for a dessert or just as a banana rollup. It comes out really nice!

According to Alissa's philosophy, as long as you are eating all raw, you should loose weight on this lifestyle. I found that to be true. She has many examples in her book of people eating a lot of raw gormet foods and still losing weight. You should get her book if you don't have it.
I agree with the above and just wanted to add that i have made great banana "chips' in the D. just cut them pretty thin, not too thin otherwise you will be left with nothing, lol, and put a bit of lemon on them to prevent too much browning.
Good luck with raw, I am sure you will have a blast!! :)
