So I posted awhile back that I thought my weight loss was affected by my pH levels. I tend to have a *very* stressful life. Even at 100% raw for 6 months, my body registered a 6.0. I assumed that because my body was so acidic that weight loss often stalled and that tiny amts of food added weight very quickly. (I can gain 15 lbs in just a few short weeks-eating cooked vegan). I'm on an extended juice feast and have been checking my pH levels each morning. They have been around 7.5 upon waking and I have lost approx 1 lb a day even if I drink over a gallon of juice. This morning my pH was 6.0, so out of curiosity I stepped on the scale. (Please note-I'm NOT hung up on weight loss, nor am I *trying* to lose weight during this feast. I have faith that my body will heal and do what it needs to do.) I have not lost AN OUNCE since yesterday.

Now, I'm not sure why my pH level was so cruddy. Yesterday I feasted on tangerine juice, and a combo of celery, spinach, carrot, beet, jicama, pear. Before bed I had 24 oz of celery, romaine, cilantro, and grape. I also had Dong Quoi and raspberry leaf tea, and lemon ginger tea. The only thing different is that I took 1T of coconut oil early in the morn. AS says to do this once every 1-2 weeks.

So my question is: Could it be the fat in the coconut oil that has affected my pH?

I can not understand why someone with your diet should have that reading and why it would fluctuate so much.

Oh Zaphirah....there seems to be alot to be stressful about today. Its all a mind game for me.My perception. How I am handling what is happening. Not so much what is happening but how I am looking at it.But I hear you, somethings are just plain stressful.
I have been having success with valerian herb as well as Rhodiola/Holy Basil combination.I find the living energy raises my energy so sometimes it feels like anxiety. So I make sure I "ground" with root veggies...carrots and beets and parsnips. It also helps. If I find my sleep a bit harder sometimes,I take an herbal high quality rest formula.ahhh peaceful.
Heard some ideas yesterday about this too.Our lives get so complicated and seems the more we purchase to make our life betters only complicates our life and stresses us.Today I am paring down and organizing to simplify ,simplify, simplify. That will help alot.
Also knowing and trusting that the Higher Power(your insert here) has it all under control(the world situation) and that it will be reemdied.I ask for help in this always and ask for truth about it all. Then I act upon the answers to it and breathe easier.
Hope this helps you sweetpea..please rest when you can and take care of you....lv

What day of the feast are you on? If you go to juicefeasting.com, they talk on there about how weight loss DOES slow down over a certain period of time. HTH! :)

Hi Zaphira,

I have a few comments for you. The first is, that while some people do marvelously well with coconut oil as a cleanser, some do not. I found that when I was juice feasting and consuming coconut oil, my weight did not budge at all. Some of us are more sensitive to oils. Once I cut it out my weight loss stabilized and I saw some cleansing results. It seems the coconut oil held up my progress. I'm not alone either- several of the girls at the raw restaurant I work at found they had bad results taking coconut oil alone as a supplement.

The other thing is, perhaps it is the Dong Quoi? I know that it has been a lifesaver for many, especially with hormone-related issues, but a friend of mine found it slowed her metabolic system almost to a stop. I've never personally taken it but perhaps if you cut it out temporarily you can see if it is having an effect.

Good luck! Keep us updated :)
