HI all,

I am a 29 year old mama of one.

I am really interested in becoming raw, I have been flirting with the idea for the past few weeks now. I have a bunch of health problems and I have noticed that certain foods have a direct effect on my well being.

I have reserved a bunch of raw cookbooks at the library and I am reading them as they come in (apparently we have a decent sized raw community here in Columbus).

So far I have read the commentary in Ani Phyo's Raw Food Kitchen and Raw Food Real World. I made one of Ani's recipes and liked it after I tweeked it a bit. I just bought Raw Food Made Easy For 1 or 2 people, and like that one a LOT cause everything looks pretty simple and straightforward. Also have The Wild Fermentation book.

We cannot afford lots of expensive equipment. My husband is finishing up his PhD so money is tight. I am probably going to get a decent food processor and maybe a juicer, but that is about all we can afford for now!!

Well that's it for now!

Welcome to the RFT :)
The best part of being a rawie is that you don't NEED any equipment at all,-just bite into it and enjoy.

Those are both great appliances to have on your raw food journey. You can make great crusts, nut pates, and banana ice cream in your food processor.

Have fun on your raw journey!
