Where did Feb. go???
Well, here we are a new month, a new start for some & continuing challenges for others.
This challenge is open to all - join anytime you want - state your goals - or just post your exercise - it's up to you!
Who's with me??!!!! :D
My goals this month:
Continue slowly with the couch potato to 5k program - this past week my knee was starting to hurt, so I scaled it back.
The plan:
Hit the YMCA everyday - with the exception of my 1 scheduled Sunday off - I have felt sooooo much better trying to follow this plan (I missed 4 days in Feb. & was bummed about it).
I will try the walk/jog routine 3 times per week on Mon, Wed & Sat - going with how my body adapts
I will do my 55min walks on Sun & Fri
I will continue to teach my 1 hour yoga class on Tues/Thurs.
I will do a total body weight lifting routine on Sun, Wed & Fri.
I will stretch after every gym workout & do 30 situps as well (not on yoga days)
Let's give it our best!

Today:
Walked on the treadmill for 55min @3.5mph
Did a total body weight routine on the machines - 1 set/15 reps each
Stretched afterwards & did 30 situps (10 for the middle & 10 for each side)

I'm in. This will be my 4 week going raw so let me take this into the March Challange.
The Plan- Stay 100% raw.
The workouts- I plan to practice yoga only the entire month. I feel like I need that right now. With the detox symptoms I have been encountering, I think I need this type of healing to go along with my raw life right now.
Today was a rest day for me so no workout unless you count cleaning the house and doing laundry.

Welcome rawpromises!
Yes! - house cleaning can definitely be considered a workout depending on the effort put into it.

Today I just finished walking on the treadmill. 2.2 miles in 40 min at speed 3.5-4.0. I was going to practice yoga as I said I would be doing it all month but I just was in the mood to walk. I have a real tough time listening to my body after I have set a plan so for me this was a big to do to rear from the plan. Good for me. Now i'm off to go shovel out. We had 10 in of snow so I should be out there for a good while working my biceps.:D

Back in from shoveling out. It took me 2.5 hours to finally get a path out. Now I'm having a green smoothie with Kale, lettuce, pears, and a banana for good measure. I through some hemp protein in chlorella, and chia seeds too. Needed some energy.

Hello -
I'll try to post here daily. I've been M.I.A. because my schedule is just too crazy. I was just getting some advice from a raw friend on another site. My sister, some friends and I are challenging ourselves with a 1/2 marathon. We'll be making up the course at one of the parks nearby.
I plan to be indoor for most of the training but will challenge myself to get outside when it gets a little bit warmer and my endurance has improved. So this morning I did a walk/run combo of for 35 minutes and a total of 2 miles (walk 5 min/run 1 min). We were following a "beginners" guide to 1/2 marathons" but after takling to a friend I think I will be tweaking some stuff.

Congratulations on doing your first half. I did mine last Oct but was not raw at the time. I would love to have seen the benefits of raw with running. I was on the typical SAD diet and sports beverages while training. Good luck. You will love the whole process. I love events like that. They make you feel so welcome.

I went to yoga this morning. I hadn't been since Thursday so I was definitely feeling it. During lunch I did 30 min on the elliptical.
My goals - do yoga every (week)day before work. Go to the gym during lunch when possible for elliptical/treadmill/weights.
Weekends - choose an activity to do.

Hey there Rawchic. I see we are still on for the month. I practiced yoga seven days straight last week and took Sunday off. I was so tired all day long. Well, my husband comes home with the flu today. I'm hoping yesterday was me having the flu and now it's gone. I feel great. I did the treadmill this monring and then shoveled out forever today. My yoga last week was wonderful. I think I'm getting better at concentrating. I found a yoga center 30 min from my home. I'm going to join in April for the standard sequences classes. This way I will have instruction just in case I'm doing a pose wrong or somthing. Then I can work my practice from home as well.

Welcome Everyone!
Sounds like you're all off to great starts - keep it going & you will be amazed!
For me however - my knees don't seem to be cooperating with my walk/jog schedule - they very loudly protested last night - which switched my plan to just walking instead of the walk/jog for 55min @ 3.4mph - they were VERY sore the entire time & still have some residual pain.
After that I did some stretches & 30 situps
Keep up the great work everybody!

I've been raw for almost a month and I think it's time I start taking advantage of the new lifestyle by doing all I can to stay fit!
My general goal (these will be more specific as time passes):
To get fit, with the hopes of reaping such benefits as having more energy, strength and having more restful sleep at night.
My plan:
Do do some kind of exercise (ANYTHING!) every day. My plan today (since it's SO cold outside) is to do some yoga and maybe some sit-ups and push-ups at home this evening. Maybe Thursday morning I can get up early enough to swim, we'll see. Dental appointment in the morning.
Glad to see this thread on here!

hey rawpromises - yeah, I'm still with you for daily yoga! Nice job last week :) That's great that you found a studio nearby. Sounds like you can find a good balance of taking an occasional class, and then practicing at home as well.
I went to yoga this morning even though I was out late last night. I usually go to bed by 10 p.m., but was out until 11:30 last night. I set my alarm for the normal 5:30, but told myself if I needed to sleep in that was okay. Nope - I was wide awake at 5 so I got up and had a leisurely morning before going to the studio.
I might go again after work...I'm torn between going to yoga or going for a bike ride. I really can't go wrong either way - I love both. I'll just wait and see what I feel like this afternoon.

Had a tough day today. I was just off for some reason. Detox I assume. I was just so tired all day long. Now I have a headache. I did manage to walk 3 miles on the treadmill. ON top of my off day ,my green smoothie exploded all over me and the kitchen this evening. The blender came off of it's stand and exploded. It was just par for the course today.

I've got some catching up to do -
Tuesday - Taught/did my 1hr yoga class - not an overly physical one that night - I was just really enjoying all the stretches.
Wednesday - I attempted to try my walk/jog program again, but my knees are still refusing to allow me to jog - I managed 1min - then stopped to obey my body - I ended up walking for the 55min @ 3.3mph.
I also did a total body weight machine workout - this time with lighter weights & 2 sets of 12 each.
Anybody have any ideas to help with my knee pain??

Stomach is acting a little goofy today. Detox Detox. Have had many bouts in the bathroom so to speak. No real change in my intake, just fruits, green smoothies and salads. I think it is left over from my tiredness the other day. Hopefully it is all gone now and I have high energy tomorrow. Anywho, I did 60 min of power yoga today.

Lavendarj - Thank you for the suggestion. I take a small amount of MSM everyday - a little less than a tsp. - perhaps I should up that amount.
Yesterday - Taught/did my 1hr yoga class.
After class I went and purchased a couple knee support type braces with the holes in the center - I'm going to try one of them out tonight to see how it works for me - hopefully well!
Great job everyone~

I hope it works out for you monka - the knee brace that is..
I just finished my run/walk for 2 miles at 33:09 minutes (really more like a jog)...I'm working out in the gym; don't really like the idea of running or jogging outside; I don't want that impact on my knees and ankles..
Have a good day!

Sat and Sun were gardening days for me. I'm revamping my garden with the help of my husband and kids and supersizing it. I had 4 nice size beds last year and this year I'm uping it to 6 larger sized beds. Plus I getting a fence built around it to grow some grapes and blackberries. I can't wait to start planting.

Hello All
You may not hear from for the next few days; I used my flash drive at the university and saved info to print at home and I believe I brought home a hidden virus on my flash drive...have never had a problem in all the years that I've had this computer and now this virus (since Saturday afternoon) has taken over everything and it blocks me from doing anything (emails, searches, etc.)...this is not good for someone who has two meetings ...
My plan is this:
Today/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday:
jog/walk training
ab work
Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday
ab work
strength training with free weights and body weight
pilates
I'll check in hopefully with a restored computer.....
Take care

Not having sneakers is her excuse. So when I buy a pair for her, I wonder what kind of excuse she'll give me then. mwahahahaha!

My mom went walking with me yesterday! wooohooooooo! She kept complaining about the cold to which I told her she should have walked earlier with my aunt, when the sun was up in the sky, hehe.

I'm in too! Good luck you runners! I am running the Cleaveland Marathon in May, but my real focus is a 50K in September and then Detroit marathon 6 weeks after that. Right now Im mostly trying to get my milage high and build a good base for my fall events. Im doing a green smoothie "fast" in the meantime, so Im monitoring my energy for workouts. So far, great! Im also working out with a swim group on Thursdays (coached by a 4x olympian!) Swimming is brand new to me, and I have only one goal which is to show up and attempt the workouts. I couldnt finish it today-- I am too slow, and Im only 3/4 done when everyone else is finishing up. THat is fine with me, though.
This is what I do need to work on:
Strength work
Stretching/ yoga
Sleep
Strength: I should be able to go to the gym on Mondays and lift weights (or I could do it in my basement). Ok, I will, starting this monday.
Stretch: a yoga class would be nice, but Ill put in 5-10 min per day post and pre run 4x week.
Sleep: AS much as I love the cuddling, Im going to sit my children down this evening and tell them that mommy needs more sleep, so that unless it is really important, save cuddling for the morning. (as opposed to climbing into bed with me and crowding me out, or calling out to me asking me to cuddle them!) They are 5, 7, and 10, and all 3 are so snuggly!
SO there are my goals for this week-- Ill check in a few times and tell you how it goes.

Well so far I have made my weeks milage goals-- about to set out for a 7 mile run which would take me tp 60 for the week-- so exciting! I was feeling like crap last week, esp the weekend with the freezing rain and 33 degree temps. Yesterday was sunny and 40s! back to 27 now, though, but that's ok. It is dry.
I ate some solid food and rice Friday night, Sat and this morning. It got me easily through my 20 miles yeasterday, about which I was anxious (regarding bonking) all week because of the smoothie fast Ive been on since Monday. After this morning, it will be green smoothies though for the day and then through next Friday night.
Did sit-ups with my friend on Thursday-- like about 10! But we were having too good a time talking as out to-be kindergardners were running around.
Still not sleeping well. I really resent the time change. Really, who benifits?????
Anyway, going out to run now! Caio!
