Tried mine for the first time today and it was a disaster. I'm just spinning and spinning the handle of the thing, nada. Was trying to make onion bread which called for onion sliced in a food processor (thought that's what this thing is for). I got it new so assume the blade is sharp. Can't find the dang instructions, but heck with only three pieces didn't think it rocket science.
I sliced the onion placed the slice in the contraption and began to spin the handle . . .nothing.
So, I just threw the onions in my Vita-Mix; well you know some of them were liquified :(, so as I threw in another handful I made sure to not let the machine run as long, so now you know I have big chunks of onion. Disgusted I went ahead and combined the other ingredients so I could get the goop on the paraflexx. Ay yi yi.
Anybody know what I possibly did incorrect with the saladacca? I washed Ms. Cohen use it on her video and I just don't see what the big deal is and am flabbergasted that I didn't get it to work. Geeesh.

Your posts do tickle me LL! Ay yi yi, lol!
This one is spooky because I nearly posted to ask about the saladacco as I tried making courgette pasta and failed, sigh. it seems to waste loads as massive slices don't get through - almost like the gripper is too high up. I'm fast giving up on it as one of those not so useful (useless) gadgets and just want to buy something else like a spirallo (?sp). Will be interested in answers to this so subbing...

You are years late with this question ladies.
I posted this years ago and still can not get the thing right.
I have given up trying.

Okay, I have a saladacco, and it works fine.
Cut your hunk of veggie to fit inside with the cover on it closed. Like, 2 inches or so.
Stick it dead center on the little bump in the middle. Put the dome cover over it, and twist it to lock it in place.
Gently press DOWN as you turn the handle round and round...
You should get spirals of very thin slices.

Is there perhaps another apparatus that works that we can look into. I like the idea of taking regular veggies and making them into spaghetti-like objects. I really was looking forward to that as a way of incorporating veggies I would never have considered eating. Dang
