I'm in! I've been counting down the days until I can join in on this challenge. I've been trying over & over & over for the past 5 MONTHS to go 100% raw and have not been able to do it more than 6 days. Granted, being 5 1/2 months pregnant obviously has something to do with it, the cravings are fierce this time around. It's all or nothing for me, I can't do 95% and stay good. It's always 100% junk or 100% raw.

But now, I'm so determined. Today I went and stocked up on all my favorite things (Except watermelon..........ooooh how I crave thee!!!) and today have been doing the junk food thing in preparation for tomorrow. :p

Can't wait to get 30 days under my belt and be 100% RAW for the rest of my pregnancy until the delivery in July! :D The most I've ever gone is 3 months of 100% raw so I know I can do it! I've even gone 45 days 100% raw during my last pregnancy so I also know I can do it while pregnant too.

I am in for March. This will be challenging because I am going on two trips this month. But I will do my best to stay raw!

hi folks, i'm in for march :D i've been waiting for this day for the past two days, ever since i found this forum and signed up. i'm still so schocked of having seen the pictures my parents had taken when i visited them in arizona in december, that i think my motivation should at least last for the rest of my life!!!

and just in time for the great beginning my new food processor arrived (yesterday), so basically with all the stuff i have at home now, i should be ready. i'm really eager to start :D

I'm in! Today's day 63 for me. I still like being a part of the monthly raw challenges though; it's both good motivation and accountability.

Today we're supposed to get the beginning of a snow storm (YAY) so after church we need to run to the farmer's market and pick up this week's stock. It'll have to be a quickie trip. I've got a lot leftover from last week though so I really don't need much.

Hi! This is my first 30 Day Challenge, and I'm really fired up for it! I weighed myself this morning using my Wii Fit, and am going to take photographs in a bit. I want to document my pre-Challenge look, feel, etc. in my blog, so when we end I can see the stark comparison!

This morning, I'm going to have a pineapple-banana-orange smoothie, with some of my favorite spirulina/chlorella powder thrown in. I'm not sure what the rest of the day will bring, but I'm thinking about making some kind of peach raw dessert. My fiancee is not joining me on this challenge, but generally if I make yummy raw things, his raw increases too!

I hope everyone has a fantastic challenge day 1, full of yummy food, reflection, and joy :D

I'm not sure how many days I have been 100 percent, but not more than a couple of weeks. I'll consider this day one so I have a definite marker.

Very excited about the coming month.

I've been waiting for this day too to join! As others have said, I need to be all raw or I'm all junk. Have never made it beyond seven days so this will definitely be a challenge. My goal is to do at least 3 of the challenges in a row to hopefully feel so much better and drop a size or 2 by June 1st - summer!

Lunch time at work and Friday and Saturday nights are my weakest times. I plan to load up on green smoothies to help with the cravings. Off to have my first green smoothie!

I'm here too! I've been preparing for my 30 day raw challenge for a couple of weeks now, with meal plans, ordering supplies, mental preparation. :D I've been reading about and dabbling in raw foods for 4 years now, always organic and vegetarian before that. I've never gone 100% until now. I'm sooooo ready!

For day one, I started off with a pint of vegetable juice. A couple of hours later I had a big green smoothie with banana, mango, purslane, juice of 3 oranges and a spoon of coconut butter.

Lunch was an asian salad, with mixed greens, sprouted mung beans, cilantro, basil and an amazing dressing.

snack was raw apple crisp.

Dinner was a big bowl of pumpkin soup (made with raw sweet potato, not actual pumpkin)

I'm also reading "A New Earth" and listening to lots of uplifting audio. I have an exercise plan as well. Today was a 2 hour walk along a beautiful river...fresh air and sunshine free of charge, hehe!

So far so good...looking forward to tomorrow already! :)

Ugh, I woke up with a migraine and I have so much to do today. I guess the Universe has other plans for me :D Ok, so I will go with the flow today.....but I am in the middle of Spring cleaning and there's stuff all over the place and I need to clean and....ew, 'nuf whining-lol I *am* feeling so much better, but I should get off the computer for now.

I wish everyone a great day!

Day 63!

After church this morning I stocked up at the farmer's market and then got my hair cut. Dh wanted to go to a Chinese buffet for lunch which was great. I had a plate of dry salad and two plates of fruit (mixed melon, orange wedges & grapes). Yummm! I'm thinking I'll make fajita wraps for dinner.

DH ordered Girl Scout Cookies back at the beginning of the year when I first went raw. They were delivered today. He sat the boxes down and said, "well, I guess you can put these in Quentin's lunch. I bought the caramel ones for you but I guess you can't eat them now." I asked him why he did that since I had already started raw then and after a little hemming and hawing said, "well, uhhh I didn't think you'd last as long as you have." Showed him! :D

I am in for March....Day 1 is almost down. Day 1 is always the easiest for me though. it will be about day 3-4 when I will need the most support, which is why this group is perfect for me! We can do it!

It feels sooooooooo good to get up & KNOW that RAW is ALL that's on the menu for today! I'm sitting here having baby coconuts for breakfast, so eager to see the changes unfold!

I actually started yesterday, about 80% raw, & lost 3 pounds overnight!
Ok, it's likely just water weight, I know, but I'll take it! Lol!:D

HI Everyone-
I am so excited to be doing this. I need a challenge and I feel up to this one. I had a green smoothie for breakfast and it wasn't half bad. I have made some with Kale, which were terrible and made me scarred to try again. Todays was with 2 packed cups of spinach. I got fired from my job last week, so now I am home with the kids which is a whole different kind of stress, but my hubby is supportive. I ve got raw granola in the dehydrator. mmmm smells so good.

I have been on and off raw trying to make it "stick" -- hope the 3rd time is the charm! Also hope having some accountability will help! Last night I signed up to a run the MORE 1/2 marathon (women only) in Central Park in NYC (along with my 3 daugthers) so the combination of 2 commitments should keep me on track!

Today's Food: (ran 1 hour 20 minutes)

B - Big fruit salad - grapefruit, oranges, pear, and a banana

L - Big salad - greens and veggies with avocado

S - Dates/Figs/almonds/cahews -- my own trail mix

D - The rest of the salad from lunch, blueberries

Packed breakfast and lunch for tomorrow -- ready to go...

Okay, they say after 30 days a thing becomes a habit - so here's hoping I'm about to change my life! I came to this decision so I could FINALLY lose weight. But I'm also pretty excited about the idea of eating healthy. Especially since I'd like to be pregnant one day soon - bad enough I poison my own body, I'd like to keep my baby "clean". ;}
Still, I know I'll need God giving me lots strength, because as any overweight person knows - food is as addictive as drugs, booze, and smoking.
So, I just need to get addicted to the right ones! I'll let you know how tomorrow goes...

So, I'm in for the March challenge! I am actually on day 18 today! (woohoo) and I'm excited to get to my 30 day mark soon! I am going to be spending spring break in England and France (8 days with SAD eating friends in the land of pastry and fried things). I've never travelled raw, but I'm excited and I'm going to try to stick as close to 100% as I can.

:) Here's to an awesome 30 days!

Day 1 finished, I'm about to go to bed. I did VERY well and am so happy I made it through! I powerwalked for 20 minutes today (trying to ease into exercising gently since I'm 22 weeks pregnant and haven't exercised in eons) and ate:

1 whole pineapple, chilled - YUM
lots of bananas
15 dates
2 corn on the cobs w/melted coconut butter & sea salt
big bowl of chilled coconut chocolate pudding - water, 3 medium avocadoes, agave, cocoa, & coconut flakes

I'm ecstatic that there are only 29 more days to go until I can say I DID IT, I was 100% raw for 30 days!!! :D Tomorrow my goal is to have at least 1lb of greens in addition to more cardio and skin brushing.

GOOD morning! I just got back from my walk (and it was cooold and windy out) and had applemeal for breakfast with my ds, now I'm full and happy. I've decided that I'm gonna do something different than I've always done because I want to get something different than I've always got;). I'm going to attempt to stop eating when I'm satisfied ... not stuffed (even if it IS raw). I've only got a few minutes here until we start school so I will check back in later!

contessa - *high fives* on the girl scout cookies!

daisygrrrl - yes, it is a whole different kind of stress being home but it can also be a benefit, you can EASILY prepare all your own food.

Food for today looks like:
Applemeal
GS or spinach tomato salad
Large Salad for dinner
Possibly a choco shake for dessert or snack

Blessings,
Heather

Great MOrnin' Everyone!

*Hi Heather* fun to be challenging with you again;)

I have done this before, I am more relaxed about what I will be eating...my challenge is staying in the challenge! I seem to give in when confronted with social situations, but I am motivated to treat my body better!

So, for today, I have:

Big GS with Kale, banana, chia powder...cinnamon

I have avos, made the Rawritos from the recipe section and the Sugar Cream Pie also from that section...the pie is very sweet, but very delicious and does taste like brown sugar...in my opinion! mmmmm

I'll make the Ranch dressing too for salad....

Make it a great Raw Day! warmly, Deb

Hey everyone!

Day one was a success, although I'm not sure I ate enough fats - the avo's that i had weren't ripe so I found myself taking a bite or two of raw cashew butter right out of the bottle...

For day two I have my pineapple, banana strawberry with a little raw carob powder smoothie, will make up a big class of apple/carrot/cucumber/kale juice to take with me. For later I have a big salad with the dressing I made from alissa's book (hopefully I can add those avo's if they are ripe)

Found a mock chix salad recipe on this site that I am going to try later this week it looks awesome.

Keep trucking everyone and have a great healthy day!

Hi Deb! It's good to be challenging with you too!

I have been thinking ... I know some people use this 30 day challenge as a springboard and never look back. I feel like I'm an addict and unless I check in here for accountability I'm going to turn back to my addiction. I don't know how long it will be for me, I may be here for YEARS - lol.

Blessings,

been fasting, then raw since mid-Jan.

Day one went like this:

breakfast - few pieces of cataloupe & few grapes

snack - cashews and rasisins

lunch - salad (from Whole Foods), mixed raw veggies with little EVOO & vinegar and sunflower seeds. few slices of sweet potato (not raw, i think)

snack - water from 2 young thai coconuts, taste of coconut & several raw crackers

dinner - rest of salad from lunch, added marianted mushroom stem (marinated in nama shoyu, agave and flax oil). Large portabello mushroom stuffed with pesto

dessert - 1/2 raw chocolate bar

all in all, a pretty good official day one.

I know being pregnant & all, I'm not supposed to by trying to lose weight...which I think is partly why I've struggled so much to be 100% raw, since that has been one of my main motivations in the past. You can't exactly lose weight while pregnant, at least not in the normal sense of the word.

I have gained 30lbs so far this pregnancy, and my previous RAW pregnancy by this time I had only gained about 15. SO - that being said, I was down TWO pounds this morning!! WOOHOO for that!! I'm not going to "aim" to lose weight, but I know that I have gained too much already so it's totally fine with me if I lose some, as long as I feel healthy and the baby keeps kicking me like it did last night, good Lord. LOL! =)

I'm looking forward to starting my day with some ice cold fresh-squeezed OJ as soon as I get the children off to school. Good success to everyone!!!

Good morning all. Started my day with a big green smoothie! YUM!

I am having a little breakdown because I am out of ripe avocados. I have some but they are not ready!

For lunch I am doing a big green salad with extra tomatoes and some pumpkin seeds on top.

Dessert will be banana with a little raw cocao spread.

I'm about to leave town on a business trip tomorrow.

Hey all, it's great to be back in for March. The biggest gift that I am getting out of this right now is the increased energy and motivation to excercise! I used to hate working out on a treadmill, running of any kind, etc. now I get kind of itchy *until* I get my jog in. Right now it's nothing too strenuous, just a half hour jog at about 5 mph. Going just over 2.5 miles. The thing is that I never thought I could run 1 mile, let alone 2.5! It's incredible.
I feel also like my brain is starting to clear up. I don't really know how to describe it except to say that I feel as though I understand myself and my priorities better and it is easier to stay focused on the things that I need to do, and to know what are the things that I need to do as well.

will likely have some more carrot-pecan burgers today, maybe make another thing of guacamole, it came out so deliciously last night. Green smoothie once I finish shoveling the snow.

Hi All,
I tried raw a few years ago while living at home but it didn't last for more than a few months with my family freaking that I had the fridge full of more vegetables than they would eat in a month... lol

I decided on March 1st to go 100% raw, I ate mostly raw before anyways except for a meat and veggie dinner. I was always exhausted and had low energy, could never get enough sleep and have constantly dry and red skin. I got tired of it. I thought if I feel like this when I'm 23 and don't even have the energy to attempt to exercise, it's only going to get worse. I turn 24 in May and wanted to give myself the gift of well being.

When I was in school I was so active and it was easy and I wanted that again. So I decided I'd rather live better and feel better than eat what was convenient with everyone else.

My family is skeptical and annoyed again of course freaking out I'm not going to get enough protein. My sister is a doctor with celiac's disease and eats a lot more junk than I do, but laughs because she doesn't think that I will get enough nutrients.

After day 1 of eating mostly smoothies and fruit I went to the gym and have not felt that good in a long time. I was so excited that the only reason I wanted to stop was to not strain my muscles too fast too soon, not because i was out of breath or exhausted.

This morning waking up was easier, I wasn't completely exhausted after 8 hours of sleep and I am looking forward to tomorrow to see if it gets better.
I even brought my runners to work today to exercise at lunch. :)

Although I started a bit late in the February challenge and this is my day 23, I had 2 days in February (during detox) where I slipped up a bit (ie. I ate tofu one day when traveling and another day had potatoes on a salad in another restaurant). I was bummed about this but kept plugging along... SO glad I did!!! I feel great.

So, for me, this March challenge will be about staying on track, 100%, no matter what! I also vow to start exercising, hopefully every day, but at least every other day. I exercised VERY little in February (still managed to lose some major inches). However, I'm going to start training for a triathlon on April 4th. This will be my first raw-athlon! I'm excited. It's the first of 4 I've signed up for this year.

Anyway, nice to meet everyone and congrats on your commitment to the March challenge! We're all in this together.

So, food for today (includes planned):

Smoothie (2 bananas, 1 apple, 1 orange, hemp protein, agave nectar, almond butter)
Cacao nibs & mac. nuts
Salad with lemon-tahini dressing (so easy and delicious!)
apple
Ginger-almond pate nori rolls (using almond pulp from last week's milk)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! We have a few inches of snow here in NC (which is typically a big deal). I was able to sleep in this morning, which was a real treat!

hey folks,
this is my second day ever of trying to be 100% raw, so this morning i was very eager to start the morning with a big breakfast. i juiced 8 small oranges and had a papaya/banana pudding.
then in the afternoon i made a sort of barbeque sauce and added 2 zucchinis as noodles.
i had also taken along a banana leather and strawberry sauce, but unfortunately the cream i had wanted to make didn't turn out creamy, it was too dry so i took it back home and had nothing so far for the evening.
but since i am starving now, i will make a big fruit salad now with apples, pears and kiwis and maybe put some vanilla extract on it to give it a vanilla smell :-)
then i will sit down and think about what to prepare for tomorrow ... i will have to prepare it tonight or else i will not have the time to do so in the mornin.
so, good luck to us all :-))
take care and have a great day

So this is my first time ever of going raw and I am determined to go 100% raw for 30 days.

First of all I am not sure if this will get me kicked out of the raw club, but I HATE BANANAS!! I know how fabulous they are but I would really like to not taste them. I made a smoothie yesterday with one frozen banana 2 oranges and some blueberries and water. It was too banana-y for me but I drank it anyway. This morning I opted for half an avocado and an apple. It was much more satifying.

I made a garden vegetable soup yesterday that I would make again without cucumbers (the flavor was a bit too strong) and I made a mock tuna salad. It was pretty filling. I just need to work on what to put it on or in. I found romaine lettuce leaves messy.

I guess here are my stats
height 5'4"
SW: 185 lbs
CW: 184.4 lbs
1st goal weight:150 lbs
2nd goal weight 140 lbs

I would love tips on easy snacks. Last night I ate raw cashews dipped in raw cocoa powder mixed with honey.

LOL @ hating bananas! When I first started, I hated avocadoes and couldn't imagine why on earth anyone would willingly eat one! I still can't just eat them plain, but I love them in salads and especially as a chocolate pudding base. Funny how your tastes start to change over time.

A couple of snacks I love are dates with pecans - it tastes EXACTLY like pecan pie to me and is a quick fix if I am craving sugar and about to blow my 100% raw promise.

Another one that kind of tastes like popcorn in a weird way is cashews w/enough olive oil to coat, then a bunch of nutritional yeast, enough to coat. Really yummy and such a unique taste that it is a different type of snack than the norm.

My favorite summer snack that is super quick is to have a big watermelon in the fridge so it's icy cold in the hot summer. I cut it in half so it resembles two bowls, camp out in front of the computer, and dig in with a spoon. This becomes something I crave sooo much that I convinced myself I can't go all raw without watermelon, lol! But not anymore - I'm determined now! :D

Hi everyone,

Today I had...

a pint of green juice (broccoli, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon)

an Asian salad with mixed baby greens, sprouted mung beans, cilantro, basil and dressing

snack: pineapple sundae (from Alissa's book)

a bowl of raw soup

I'm feeling slightly detoxy digestion-wise and I have a slight coffee withdrawal headache. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Don't like bananas - don't eat them! There is SO much other stuff to eat if you don't like one thing eat something else, but try it again at some point in the future, your taste may change. Also, I find that I really like the taste of organic bananas vs. conventional.

Quick snack - frozen grapes (they taste like mini popsicles ... Mmmmm.)

Forgot to check in yesterday, but stayed 100%, & felt great! & today has been a really good day so far, & I've shed 6 lbs in 2 days! I know much of it is water weight, I've had edema again lately, but still, I feel the difference already, & it helps me stay focussed on how much HEALTHIER I feel, even right away!

Been practically livin' on banana's, though! Lol!
Sorry, Sherataylor! Lol! But one thing I wanted to share is that I heard of a study that said that watermelon loses up to 90% of it's nutrition being stored in the fridge!

I suspect that's true with a lot of produce, actually, & have tried to research it, haven't found much...unfortunately watermelon goes bad if it sits out overnite once cut into....which is why I often do a watermelon mono-meal! (all day long!)
(& why I like to buy smaller melons!)

I love feelin' better by the day!
WHY did I EVER stop doin' this?!?!?!

dido the ez snack recipes. Anyone have a good recipe for crispy things? I was having a crisis over the pretzels I was feeding the kids. Funny to think. I had a huge gs with spinach raspberries and banannas, but the texture is killing me. I get though 1/2 of it and then it starts to make me gag. I water it down then, but it is still hard to get the rest down. Anyone know how long it takes to love these things :)? I am trying Alissa's corn chips sans the carrots. I am hoping to eat my ripe avacados an guac sounds so good. All in all, day 2 is going well for me.

dido the ez snack recipes.

Good job for all of you (and me).

Kale chips are WONDERFUL for a salty/crunchy snack ... my favorite recipe is:

1 Bunch of kale washed/destemmed/torn into bite size pieces
1 TB Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tsp sea salt
1 TB Apple Cider Vinegar
Massage above ingredients in a bowl until kale is somewhat wilted, then spread out on dehydrator sheets (usually 3, but depends on how big your bunch of kale is). THEN ... sprinkle lightly with nutritional yeast and a little cayenne pepper. Dehydrate at 105 8-12 hours or until dry and crunchy (I make mine in the afternoon then dry over night and they are done in the morning). Mmmmm, these are the best.

Blessings,
Heather

Yay for another raw month!
yesterday I went to b-fast w/ a friend. I had a fresh squeezed OJ and a fruit plate. Then for lunch I made some guacamole and had it with the veggie crackers I dehydrated from juice pulp. For dinner I made stuffed mushroom caps. In the food processor I put: cauliflower, red pepper, carrots, tomato, cilantro, garlic & shallots. Then I put that mixture into the mushroom caps.

Today I had a grapefruit for breakfast and then the rest of the mushroom caps for lunch. Now I'm having a spirulina bar (my favorite of the Lydia's Organics bars).

This week I'm trying do follow the "Daylight Diet" that Paul Nison talks about. i.e. only eating when it is light outside. My big hurdle with raw has always been overeating at night, so I'm hoping this will help. I'm committing to doing it for one week, starting today!

Hey all,
Is so encouraging to hear everyone else's experience's, especially as i don't know any rawfooders where i live (sure they are hiding here somewhere) i tried 100% before but only managed a week.

Today i have had moments when i feel i can't do this but keep telling myself i can, eventually my subconcious will get the message!

Hi! Do you mind if I join this challenge? I'd have to start tomorrow. As it happens, tomorrow is my first prenatal appointment as well, so that's my motivation to get serious.

I just wanted to say that raw makes me feel like that too! WHenever I spend more days or weeks or months on raw, my body cries desperately to be moved! I go to the gym more, play more sports games, and dance more! It's like the abundance of energy calls out for me to shake my butt!

Today for me?
- A smoothie in the AM (bananas mostly, with a little raw cacao, and an apple!)
- Lunch of apples and kiwi... I was craving fruits today. But my kiwis burned my tongue - it's the first time (and hopefully the last) that happens to me!
- Snack on some raw cookies I'm making of brazil nuts and coconut... I'm going to make a raw chocolate sauce to dip them in, and they'll taste like Mounds!

I'm not sure what for dinner! My belly is crying out to be fed as we speak, but I can't decide what I'm in the mood for? Salad? Wrap? Smoothie? Dip & Crackers? All raw of course... Hm.

I wasn't able to log on yesterday, but I will be joining you in the Monthly Raw Challenge. This will be "easier" for me since it is also my commitment for the lenten season.

My cousin is staying with me this week, and even though he is acting like eating raw foods is killing him, I think he is really enjoying it. I keep making him vanilla milkshakes for desert. :)

fortunately I love avocados! Thanks for the snack tips. I didn't buy pecans last night because they seemed too expensive but I will have to try the nuts with nutritional yeast. I checked out your website (actually commented on your blog last week) you look fantastic! It almost makes me want to have another baby (but not really) I just wish I could have done my first three healthier. i was miserable and gained 60 lbs with all 3!! You look beautiful!

D - salad w/ marinated veggies, sunflower seeds and a few raisins (marinated in agave, nama shoyu, flax oil and ACV). also some guacamole and raw chips

Dessert - raw hot chocolate (same as above)

To my suprise I am not hungry at all and I'm excited about the flaxseed crackers that I made today. I am pretty new to raw, I've read things, but I've never made it more than one week.

Yesterday threw me off because my monthly visitor came and I was not expecting her. But today was great. My intake for the day was a
Green smoothie - spring mix, banana, and apple
3 pears and a banana
I snacked on flax crackers this evening and had 2 walnuts.

I'm checking in earlier tomorrow.

Good morning! Well, I deemed it too cold to go out for a walk this morning so I will probably do that this afternoon with my children. We had a fun morning in the kitchen today, myself, my dd and my ds ALL had something different this morning! ds had applemeal, dd had a strawberry smoothie and I had banana cereal and they were ALL WONDERFUL!

Food for today looks like:
Banana/raisin/walnut/buckwheat cereal with walnut milk
Fajitas (thank you again contessa)
Smoothie for a snack if we are hungry
Large salad for dinner (I think I might make a new dressing, any suggestions?)

Have a GREAT raw day!

Good morning,
I wanted to post early this morning, because my Tuesday's can get full really quickly. I went ahead and took my before body shots and it was alarming!!! Good thing I get to take more shots in about 30 day. I still see myself when I was much thinner, but anyway, I've already had my GS, and I'm about to walk, this afternoon, the plan is to have as many pears and oranges that I want and I will have a spinich salad for dinner and I think I'll make the date nut torte from alissa's book.

Have a good day all!

Good morning!
30 minutes on the treadmill--I did it, finally I woke up in the morning with energy and was ready to go. It was such an amazing feeling. I've been craving feeling like that for ages! Years, really.

Breakfast was a GS, and exceedingly delicious. My Vitamix comes tomorrow and I am so excited to give it a go. It's a little funny how almost giddy I am for it. I think that I will surprise Y. with some fresh homemade coconut milk.

Lunch is a salad: spinach, mushrooms, bell pepper, pecans, celery. Ps. for those that eat nutritional yeast: pecans and nutritional yeast tasted exactly like bacon bits in my salad yesterday. I don't know how or why. At first I thought that somehow I accidentally got some bacon in my salad, but nope.

Good Morning everyone.. here is wishing you determination and resolve this fine Tuesday morning. Number 3 is my favorite, so I wonder where my 3rd day of raw will take me. So far, a good morning with the kids (usually stressful) and another Chocolate Banana Shake, with raw carob (Real Food, Real World) such a good recipe.. I add 2 T hemp seed and 2T flax. Gives it a little more uumph. Wondering how I am going to down a green smoothy today. The thought kind of makes me gag. :) Maybe I will try grapes instead of banana. I bet the kids will drink some too. I want them to get off dairy too, but worry about calcium. They love fruit so not a problem there.

Anywhoo- Good luck everyone , we are just 18 days away from forming a habit :)

Up & raring to go this morning! It feels wonderful to be on my THIRD day of 100% raw, I feel like I can hold up my head and there is no longer that defeated feeling of knowing yesterday I blew it, but maybe today will be better. No, today WILL BE and IS already better!

I am down 3lbs now which is awesome considering I'm pregnant and my body hangs on to fat like it's dying it's last breath when I'm cooking a little bun in the oven.

Yesterday I had a situation where DH had come home from a 12 hour work day at 8pm and was trying to eat dinner, and 5 of my children (7 & under) were needing my attention and/or crying for various reasons. It was a high-stress situation where in the past I have not been able to handle it without being frustrated at some point, but I found myself clear-headed and able to deal with each one without getting upset. THAT is what I love most about being raw, that it affects my ability to be a good Mom and really be the person that I want most to be.

So, my 'official' plan for today:
yerba mate
fruit
salad with natural yeast sprinkles
pear, grapefruit
pasta with marinara
'popcorn' (thanks for the recipe!) (cashews, evoo, nat. yeast)

Have a great day!

I am being told by everyone how great I look and how much weight I've lost over the past few weeks of raw! I wish I had a before photo : ( I'm sure I can find a photo somewhere (not a total body shot though) that can serve as a before photo. I'll be sure to share my before and afters soon : )

I really feel great. What a wonderful way of eating / living. I considered this to be a short-term diet at first (which is very helpful when setting goals), but definitely consider it a way of life now! It's so hard to go back to SAD when you're feeling this great and seeing so many wonderful benefits! No more cystic acne- yay!!!

Greetings!

Busy morning here with getting kids to school, grocery shopping, unpacking groceries and having fun with my almost 3 year old too!.....

Had big GS this morning: Kale, banana, water
also brought in the car with me; coconut breakfast cakes {Ani Phyo}: ground flax seed, coco oil (I used butter, it's what I had), agave, I added cinnamon, bit of water, they made nice little cakes, and were good for when I was done shopping...

Just had a delicious papaya with lime and dash of SS

Avos and salad later...will the Ranch dressing from the recipe section

bought beautiful veggies and fruits today - I am enjoying keeping it fairly simple....I am not really liking the Rawritos from the recipe section...too salty....I think I will make some onion bread also today.....

Hope everyone is well - for those doing this for the first time, it really gets easier each Challenge round....I've fallen off/on again, but really, the first time was the hardest...now that I know what I like, I am going with the flow and not stressing too much about it......for now anyways;)!

Good morning! Yesterday I succeeded on my first day of daylight living. I had a grapefruit at 4:30 p.m. and then nothing for the rest of the evening.

This morning I had a citrus salad (basically just spinach with orange slices...normally I sprinkle with flax, but I was out so I used some dulse). I was feeling a little hungry still, but I waited a half hour to see if I was actually hungry or just craving more food. After a half hour, I still wanted more food so I ate two more oranges. Now I'm trying to drink a lot of water to get hydrated before going to the gym.

For lunch I bought a meal from the raw bar at the yoga studio I go to. (you can pre-order raw lunches from them - place the order online by 2 p.m. and pick it up after 11 a.m. the following day) Each day is a pre-set 3-item meal for $12.50 (which I think is a fantastic deal!). This is what I got today:

Rawco
The rawco is a raw taco with a purple cabbage leaf as its shell,
stuffed with a delicious, spiced, sprouted nut and seed “meat”.
On top of that we layer guacamole, pico de gallo and it’s topped
with a shredded salad dressed with a lime-cumin dressing.

Jicama-Coconut Noodle Salad
Noodles lightly dressed with lime and cilantro. A pure and
refreshing experience.

Chocolate Superfood Synergy
Chocolate made with a wide variety of superfoods that have an
affinity for each other. Promotes good feelings.

After that, I'm not having anything else. That will be it for the day...when I get home, I will just relax and enjoy my evening and let my body rest.

wasn't the best -- but, alas, i will keep going.

B - carrot juice, coconut water, almonds & raisins

S - apple

L - salad with mixed veggies, olives and mixed nuts/raisins (probably not raw...) with EVOO, splash vinegar and pepper

S - apple and more coconut water

S - trail mix (not sure why, but i was so snack-y...)

D - nori rolls with mock tuna (like 4 of them!)

Dessert - three not raw items.

i had stress and i believe that the suspect non-raw earlier items plus the stress is what caused the lapse. the good thing is it good have been WAY worse and i stopped before spiraling out of control.

back on track today!!!!!

Last time I bought the large papayas and I am liking the smaller ones better!

I have onion bread in the dehydrator and my house smells wonderful...I am nibbling it but trying to leave it alone until it is done......will have salads and fruits and nut butter with apple later.....I didn't really like the Rawritos {too strong in flavor for me} but I broke them up and like them in my salad.....

I also have fresh beets I want to use, so will make a beet/apple/lemon/olive oil salad.......

Everyone's poops greenish??!!!! Wonderful!!! If not, more greens in your green smoothie! {you don't have to answer;)}

I also have ph strips I ordered on EBAY after reading Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko.....I tested my ph today and am thrilled that is exactly where it needs to be...alkaline, but not too alkaline. About a month ago, it measured as acid......

It seems like it's so hard to find organic, sulfite-free wine here locally. I'll try looking online (I do love the occasional glass of wine).

So, today my meals are looking like:
Young coconut for breakfast

salad for lunch with orange-ginger dressing

grapefruit
Tomatoes with evoo and curry and a small salad with pomegranate flax oil dressing for dinner
banana for dessert

yesterday I had some yerba mate, steeped in slightly warm water. My headache today felt / feels an awful lot like caffeine withdrawal, so I decided to look up the ingredients and sure enough- yerba mate has caffeine! Well, mateine, which is just another word for caffeine (there is no stereoisomer for caffeine).

Anyway, just thought I'd share, in case anyone is interested, heh : ) Wasn't the sulfites (although I hear they can be problematic too).

Agh! I didn't check in yesterday.

Things are going well --- this morning, fresh OJ and a raw raspberry snack bar. I forgot to pack my lunch or make my breakfast smoothie last night...

Grapes for a snack. A moon pie from One Lucky Duck/Pure Juice & Take-away.

Now a smoothie. Fiance made it. Tastes good!

Later I'm having some cherry cheesecake pie thing that I made last night. Mm.

Feeling REALLY, REALLY emotional the past 2 days. Wasn't expecting much detox other than my skin, since I've only been "off the wagon" for a few months. But perhaps this is a layer of emotional detox that I never worked through in my previous six month stint?

I've been terrible with posting. :o I can never think of anything to say, but maybe I ought to just journal what I'm eating. I've had a fruit smoothie for bf, nori with vegetables for lunch, and salad for dinner for about 5 days now. I think I'll have to get a bit more creative tomorrow. For awhile, I was eating quite a bit of dehydrated food; I thought it would make the transition to raw a bit easier. But I find my body doesn't really like dehydrated food too well. Well, today is a new day for me. I had a killer migraine last night (first in 10 years), with nausea, etc. I felt absolutely awful. However, after 13 hours of sleep, I'm feeling a LOT better (though a bit weaker than usual). I was really trying to figure out what the cause was. At first I thought it was the tea I had (which I usually don't), but these symptoms were way too bad for that.

Then it hit me. I'm off of bc pills for the first time in almost a year! I'm almost certain that's what's going on. So glad to get that out of my system!!

So, hope everyone is doing well today. Mattshor -- HAHA to the "giggity giggity"! I'm a huge FG fan. And so envious that you have a vitamix!! Please let me know how that works for you and compares to the usual blender. I want one so badly, so that I can really enjoy GSs.

Food:

Juiced 8 oranges (champion juicer, so I had the pith too)
banana, apple
electrolyte mix shot (a little agave, little salt, lemon juice)
salad, with sprouts and many veggies
banana

I ordered some raw oats and maca from Alissa's store- package comes tomorrow- can't wait! Looking up more smoothie recipes now. Definitely open to suggestions!

Have a great day!

Muddskipper...glad you are feeling better....have you checked EBAY for Vitamixes? That is where I got mine...I'm even told from folks on RFT that the older 3200 models that are under $100.00 are worth it...just a thought;)

Heather: We LOVE Alissas Grezzo Chocolate Cake {recipe somewhere on recipe forum} for any special occasion...or just because.....:D

So, I am doing pretty good....I feel good, my skin is clearer and smoother.....I am surprised that the scale says I am up a pound, and in the past this would have caused me to throw in the towel. But, I know it is a big picture type of thing. I am going to put away the scale for the month. I have realized that I can get up earlier and go for my run before everyone wakes up....I think, I just need to make sure I got to sleep a bit earlier. And, I'm doing this for overall health.....So here I am:D

Big Kale and banana GS this morning......

I will try the applemeal too, sounds delish.......My onion bread is ready.....I have lots of salad ingredients....last night had a yummy one with cashews and red pepper and mandarin oranges and the Ranch dressing {oh, now I see it...maybe I'm having too many nuts.....}......I will make another batch of Alissa's Honey Mustard Dressing, my whole family loves it!.....Make a great Raw Day! warmly, Deb

Started off the morning with a GS of apple, banana, lemon and cilantro with some almond milk. So smooth and rich! Very tart. Y. didn't love it, said it was too strong. I think my tastebuds are starting to change, becouse even though it was very green tasting, I kinda loved it.

Lunch is going to be sunny pâté with carrot chips and some vietnamese spring rolls filled with basil, carrot, napa cabbage and zucchini pasta.

Hey!
This is my 5th day as well, but I was wondering. How much is too much, regarding the fruits? I`m a huge fruit lover, especially pears, oranges, kiwi, strawberries and peaches.
Today I had a GS for breakfast, 1 pear and 1 peach for snack at school, one salad for lunch and another 2 pears in the last 2 hours.

Yesterday, I did not check in and it was not a good day. I was running late, so I ran out of the house without any food at 10:30am. I did not make it home until 8:30pm. I only had a 20oz green smoothie before I left home and I kept talking myself through it until about 5:30pm. Traffic was bad, I was on my way to my next appointment and I was so hungry. As I sat in front of a fast food restaurant in traffic, I caved:(

That was yesterday, and today is a new day. I learned a valuable lesson and that is to pack my food and have it ready as soon as I start my morning, so I don't feel the desparation that I felt yesterday. The silver lining is that I normally would have just given up and said, I'll just wait and start over again Monday. I made a mistake, and I'm back on track today!

Deberaw - Thanks and thanks for the tip on the Vitamix. Good to know I don't have to save up for one of these things before trying it out. Who knows, maybe if I really like it I can justify an upgrade someday, if needed.

Day 67!

Yesterday was positively amazing. I had SO much energy I didn't know what to do with it all. DH even sent me a bouquet of Fruit Flowers on a whim which was just so incredibly perfect! Some of the fruit tasted a little like bacon  which leads me to believe that maybe it was sprayed or dipped with something (or maybe it was the skewers) but it's totally the thought that counts and I was (and still am) over the moon.

Today I'm at work and, to be honest, I'm thinking I should have brought more food than I did. It's only 11am and I've already drank my entire green smoothie and ate the whole bowl of tomato/mushroom/basil/EVOO salad that I brought. I've still got a long day ahead of me and only a fajita salad, banana and Lara Bar with me. Oh well, I'll survive. It's no biggie.

Have a great day everyone!

Sandri 90 - Every BODY is different. Some people cannot tolerate a lot of fruit well, however people like me do quite well on a lot of fruit. I will often consume nothing but fruit until evening then have a large green salad with veggies for dinner. I have learned that I can make my fruit smoothie with greens in it (for a green smoothie) and get some greens in earlier in the day. But I love fruit.

Deb - I was also considering Grezzo cake ... I DO have the recipe. Man, I wish I could get my hands on some really good mangos and I would make Mango Cobbler because that is what I REALLY want. Who knows maybe the mango fairy will visit the grocery store and leave some nice mangos for me .

Today has been good so far. I got up and went for my walk and I'm breaking in my new pair of shoes on got on SALE yesterday.

Food for today looks like:
Pineapple
2 clementines
Either Applemeal or Fajitas for lunch (undecided)
Large salad for dinner
Maybe a chocolate shake or some almond milk for snack or dessert

Blessings,
Heather

yesterday when I got home from work I put together a pear, carrot, and raisins and topped it with flax, cinnamon and cloves. It totally made me want carrot cake! Anyone have a good recipe?

Today I'm having an apple salad for b-fast: 2 fuji apples, spinach & cilantro
lunch is a curry dish: spiralized sweet potato "noodles", cauliflower, red pepper, and sprouts (that I sprouted!).

I was planning on having the pear/carrot/raisins again this afternoon, but my hubby ate the last pear. I have a couple more apples, so I'll just sub that instead.

I'm feel absolutely awful today! I got a bit of that virus that is going around the hospital where I work. Sinus congestion, sore throat, runny nose, watery eyes... the works, but at least I didn't get the flu. I am very tempted to stray and make some soup, but I decided against that and ate some banana ice cream instead (very soothing on the throat). Also to combat the hot food cravings I made a tonic with ACV, lemon juice, agave and *warm* water (not boiling, just warm to the touch). Hopefully all of the raw food I have been eating the past week and a half will help me recover faster than everyone else.

Well, I just spent the last two hours playing in the kitchen. I made Alissa's Honey Mustard dressing, a bit addictive but when I first tasted it I didn't think I liked it, then I couldn't stop eating it. I made Ani Phyo's Kreamy Curry Dressing, my son really likes it. Then it was lunch time and we didn't know what we really wanted for lunch so we made some walnut butter and spread it on flax crackers and topped it with strawberries and honey processed to the consistency of chunky salsa, that was wonderful. Then I needed a glass of milk so I made date sweetened almond milk .... Mmmmmm. All this to say ... I guess my lunch plans changed, but at least I have dressing for my salad tonight :D.

Heather

Sounds like everyone is still going full strength! Good Job. I am feeling a bit discouraged becasue every raw recipe I have made, makes me gag. Alissa's fetticini almost killed me. I kept gagging long after I made it by thinking about it. Hubby says to just go simple. He is probably right, he always seems to be right, but none the less, I am making "even better onion bread" right now. Kind of strong. Maybe guacamole would be good with it. But I am also making Macaroons from Real World, REal food. they are excellent. Not great for those of you on a weight loss program (self-included) but it helps me not to feel deprived as I am a big time sugar junkie. Anyways, I further perfected the GS. Had way too much sugar in the last too and really hurt my tummy, but now, I am at 1c grapes, 2c packed spinach and 1 cup strawberries with 1 1/2 cup water. Very drinkable, not a hint of spinach, which is what i needed. Hubby drank it and he is scared of anything green :). He has actually been a great support. He love's Alissa's recipes, so at least the food gets eatten. ;)

Wish you all a great day. I hope everyone is feeling great and for me, I hope this headache goes away.

yayyyyyy!!!! day 5 and i'm still on the waggon :D
this morning i made a tropical fruit smoothy ... bananas, pineapple and orange juice ... very tasty :-D
in the afternoon i still had some tomato sauce from the mushrooms left so bought two zucchinis and cut them in julienne stripes. added some mushroom slices and some cashews .... it was just great :)
then for the evening i had three balls from the almondpaste-like stuff i made, rolled them in carob and tried them ... tasted pretty good ... like almondpaste :D
i'm thinking about what to take to work for tomorrow ... it is just too bad we don't have blueberries at the moment ... i would love to taste the blueberry cake ... but since i can't i'm working on a chokolate cake ... i also have the strong urge for a pizza ...
oh ... maybe my enchiladas get ready for tomorrow, then i can make enchiladas and take them along ... yeehaaa :-D

Oh my gosh! I was a little hungry and wanted a snack and someone had posted awhile back on another thread (sorry, I don't remember who) about eating tomatoes with curry and a bit of sea salt sprinkled on top. It is FANTASTIC, so easy and delicious. I think tomorrow I will add 1/2 of an avocado and have it for lunch. LOVELY. Just had to share ... I had read it awhile ago and just tucked it away in my brain, I'm so glad it didn't get lost in there! BTW, I used Madras curry powder.

I wasn't crazy about it either, but I have another recipe that I found online. One sec

here it is:

I left out the truffle oil and just used cashews and macadamias instead of the cashew cheeze. Still came out delicious.

Felt very run down before starting this, today i have noticed a BIG improvement in energy and mood, feel great, now i feeling more energetic hoping to try some more complex recipies, due to being so busy been mostly eating fruit and salad with a little oil/nuts and the occasional green smoothie.

Gotta keep the calories up as i do two hours walking a day ontop of work.
Had a mastone juicer delivered today can't wait to try it out, collecting 'the live food factor' book tomorrow which will help to keep me focused.

So I am still raw on day 5. This is my first attempt at raw so I am feeling good about my success.

Breakfast - hand full of backberries (so yummy!!)
midmorning feast - 2 small apples, 1/4 cashews, 1 cup black berries, apple lemonade
lunch - raw marinara on julienned zucchini - this was my first attempt at the pasta (I don't have a spiralizer, but now I really want one). I used the recipe from Raw Food Made Easy and I really liked it! It was so yummy. I really wanted it warm though so I put it in a pan and heated it on low till it was warm (definitely not hot!). It was so good! I could see how eating it with spiralized zucchini would be even better.

So was the way I warmed it up OK? Does everyone own a spiralizer? Is it worth the money?

Oh and I weighed myself this morning and i am down 5 lbs!! I am not surprised since I was eating all my favorite cooked foods the week before!
It is still nice to see.

Hello everyone!

This is my second day on raw and so far so good! Today I've had:
- a big smoothie with spinach, carrots, banana, orange and hemp hearts.
- a big salad with mushrooms, tomatoes, cukes, carrots, fresh dill, red peppers, spinach, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, cranberries and lox (I know it's not vegan, but I'm going to have to transition myself I think.)
- apple
-cashews

I'm off to work, but I'll post tonight after I eat my dinner!

Great to see everyone here. Today included:

Fruit Smoothie
Nori with miso and vegetables
Carrot Soup with a Rye Bagel, Cashew Butter, and Mixed Berry Jam
Salad
Vanilla Ice Cream

Does anyone else find that dehydrated foods cause flatulence for them? My intuition tells me that's what it is. What a pain! Who wants to get raw to stink? I've been cutting out a lot of dehydrated food, but even had a reaction from the rye bagel. (That's what I'm guessing it is.)

Oh well, I'll take it all in stride knowing where I'm heading.

I hope ya'll don't mind, but I am going to jump in tomorrow as my day 1 back on the rawagon :)

I was doing soooo well, then I went to my moms in Colorado, all that good mom food that I haven't eaten since I lived with her back when I was 16 (now 27). But that's all history!

I have an important meeting on the 28th of march. So my 1st major goal is Raw up to the 28th. I am going to NYC on april 2nd thru the 5th with 2 girlfriends (non-raw) and I really want to make it thru, especially since NYC has soooo many nice raw restaurants! I guess 3rd goal = raw for life :D

I am going to start with a 1 day water fast, 3 day smoothie "fast" then on to eating simply raw.

wow, so sore from capoeira last night. It's great!
Had an orange, mango, strawberry smoothie for breakfast. I think I am going to hold off on anything else until this afternoon. Feeling a little bit plugged up. I've noticed this week that I have really had very small and infrequent bowel movements--I'm wondering if there is some constipation there. Going to make an effort to drink a lot more water. With all the excercise that I have been doing I imagine I'm a bit dehydrated.

Just a quick check in before I hit the road (grocery store/library day). The two dressings I made yesterday ... Alissa's Honey Mustard and Ani Phyo's Kreamy Curry Dressing were ok by themselves but together on a salad are FANTASTIC! I would dare to say I like it better than I used to like sad ranch dressing. My dad (who is a bit picky) LOVED them together.

Food for today:
B - Applemeal (my son made breakfast AND cleaned up!)
L - 1/2 avo, tomatoes and cucumber sprinkled with curry and sea salt
S - ???
D - Taco Salad
Dessert - Raweater's Sugar Cream Pie (see recipes thread, I'm making this today)

i finished up yesterday all raw (so just has that small issue at lunch). i ordered some raw products and sampled several as 'dinner'. i tasted raw cinnamon raisin bread, few flax crackers, delicious cheesy kale chips. then i had mixed fruit with the kids for dessert.

today, so far, raw hot cocoa. i'm c-o-l-d.

Greetings, RawFolk! :D

Had a fruit smoothie for breakfast. Will most likely have nori with veggies and salad for the rest of the day. And I'll figure out some raw dessert as I'm still a sweet junkie.

Saw some talk (again) about Alissa's alfredo sauce. Oddly, I made it the first time without soaking the nuts (I was really in a rush). It tasted DELICIOUS! I also had a stomach ache later on. I made it again and soaked the nuts. It tasted HORRIBLE. That was the only difference. I thought I'd soak the nuts, then dehydrate them just to see if that would work. Just wanted to add my two cents about the alfredo recipe!

Enjoy!

Today is the start of a GORGEOUS weekend here in NC, with temps reaching 80 degrees by Sunday! So hard to believe it was just 15 degrees a few days ago. Very strange, but so excited about getting out this weekend!

Today I had / am having (still working on it) a banana, apple, and orange for breakfast. For lunch I have a nice salad, with broccoli, sprouts, raisins, radishes, mixed greens and sunflower seeds.

Goji berries for a snack later.

For dinner- pasta with marinara.

Happy Friday everyone! The sun is pouring into my office this morning and I have a big smile on my face :)

Mattshor - what is capoeira?

Yesterday I was successful again not eating at night. I had my last meal around 5 p.m. and nothing after that.

This morning I'm going to have an apple salad for b-fast and collard wraps for lunch. I have carrots, mushrooms, and tomatoes to chop up and roll in the collard leaves. I have two small tangerines for an afternoon snack.

For dinner tonight, I think I'm going to have an asian style dish. I have some bok choy and mushrooms that I'll marinate. Ooh, and some sprouts.

Have a fantastic day!!! Great job making it through the first week :)

Sorry I've been MIA. I'm in a show right now and we opened last night! (Finally!) I've had some struggles with food quantity over the last couple days, but I've been raw the whole time! Woot!! 100%. I feel myself coming down with something though and it seems the more dense foods I eat the worse it gets, so here's to green smoothies and green juices for a couple days until I kick this silly bug. OK, today is actually day 3 for me. Yesterday went Ok. I started the day with a celery and carrot juice, lunch was salad with greens, seeds and sprouts. For dinner I attempted to make a tomato soup in my blender - I put far too much garlic in!! I still ate some though and it was really filling which was just as well. I ended the night with some dark chocolate which wasn't raw but not beating myself up about that - want to come off the sugar though. Have ordered some Cacao so I can make my own chocolate tasting things.

Started today with a green smoothie - apple, kiwifruit (we don't call them Kiwi's here in NZ cos we call ouselves kiwis and well, that would be weird. Its funny listening to Americans call them kiwis), 2 limes (I should have just used one and I left the peel on - not sure about that), beet leaves, celery leaves and dandelion leaves and flaxseed.

Actually, I don't feel very 'woo hoo'. I was just sitting here and i all of a sudden had to puke. I barely made it to the washroom. I'm surprised, I didn't think the detox would start so quickly or so violently. I also had to make a run for the bathroom last night, but that was for the 'other end'...

So for breakfast I had a smoothie with kale, carrot, spinach, banana, orange and blueberries.

For lunch I'm going to have a hearty salad with a vinaigrette and an apple on the side.

For dinner I'm going to try my hand at some sort of recipe. Haven't decided what yet, but I'm kind of wanting to try some of that squash pasta that everyone's talking about.

I'm still feeling nauseous, but I feel like I should eat something. Maybe I'll just wait an hour or so.

Is your mind saying eat something or is it your body saying it's hungry? I find that when I'm sick my mind tells me you need to eat, but often I feel best if I stay with liquids giving my body the extra reserves to work on healing. I usually go with juice ... but that's just me. Hope you feel better soon.

I thought it might be nice to come up with some ideas for our fellow challengers that aren't feeling so great, if anybody else has any good ideas please post! For those of you not feeling well and having rough detox symptoms here are a few ideas you can use to pamper yourself:

1. Get more sleep
2. Drink lots of fluids
3. Neti Pot if your sinuses are involved
4. Soak in a warm tub
5. Curl up in a blanket and read a book (refer back to #1)
6. Get a massage (great to facilitate detox)
7. Get a colonic (but I've never been brave enough to do this)

These are just a few ideas, I hope you all are feeling great soon.

Heather

Just wanted to pop in and say I'm on day 6 and feeling awesome! Yesterday I had lots of energy just like I remembered having it before when I was pregnant & raw. Usually after dinner I'm so totally tired and drained that it's all I can do to lie on the couch and commandeer the children to take care of the cleanup/dishes. But last night I vacuumed half of our entire house + swept & washed Cinderella-style our kitchen floor. It felt good to be able to do all that during my normal very tired time. Yay for raw!

I am hanging in there today. I had my first long run since I started raw and I ran 12 miles. I felt a little sluggish, but I started out too fast so that might have been why. I brought raw cashews and craisens for my run fuel. I tried the coconut water, as I hear it is a great sports drink, but I couldn't do it. It just isn't my thing. Before I ran I made a banana, almond milk chocolate smoothie and that seemed to sustain me pretty well. I am down just over 5 lbs. and interested to see what next week looks like.

I also found out that a friend of mine has secretly been doing a raw diet too, but she didn't want to tell me in case she couldn't keep it up. She went out to dinner last night and had a Boca patty (no bread) and it really upset her stomach, after less than 1 week raw! So she is more committed to doing raw than before.

I'm feeling much better than yesterday. No more nausea for the moment. Yay! My bf has been eating mostly raw with me, and I'm really glad I have his support. My mom and brother stopped by last night and immediately started getting after me about protein. I've been very careful about making sure I have enough, but they won't listen!

For breakfast today I had granola I made from almonds, cranberries, hemp hearts, apple, cinnamon and raw oats with a little raw honey (that stuff is expensive!).

For lunch I had a smoothie with spinach, banana, apple, blueberries, flax meal, maca & chlorella.

For dinner I'm going to have some sushi (without the rice!) with lox, avo, peppers, carrots, gr. onions, and whatever else I can find to stuff in there.

Tonight I'm going to watch the hockey game at my brothers house and that usually involves beer and takeout, so I'm going to have to bring myself some snacks.

Happy Saturday everyone!!

still hangin' tough :-)
today i didn't eat much though ... in the morning i had a few macadamia nuts. for lunch i had a few of my flex seeds cracker with guacamole and for dinner i had a small pizza using the enchilada "bun" ... unfortunately the bun didn't turn out a good bun for enchiladas so i just switched and made a pizza from it instead ... and it tasted unexpectedly well too :-)
take care and good luck to us all :-D

Today has been a good day. I've pretty much snacked on fruit today. I had a tiny bit of the smoothie I made for the rest of the family. We went over to my mom and dad's this morning to help them do some yard clean up, hubby brought the chainsaw. So, we worked over there for a couple of hours (who am I kidding, I mostly talked to my mom and watched the birds at her feeder ;)). Then we came home for a quick change of shoes then went out the the property we have bought to do some brush clean up. We worked out there for about two hours and I really DID work there. It was in the high 70's today and the sun was shining and we did a little birdwatching while we were out there, it was a beautiful day.

Also, my sunflower seed sprouts are ready to eat and taste wonderful, and I just started some alfalfa sprouts. So for dinner tonight I will have a large salad with sunflower sprouts, some zucchini pasta with ground up sunflower seeds/nutritional yeast/cayenne/salt and pepper ... then for dessert I will have another piece of Sugar Cream Pie ... Mmmmm, life is good.

Hope you all are having a GREAT weekend!

Blessings,
Heather

Happy Saturday Everyone! It seems like there might be a few less posts on weekends. I had a really nice day. The weather was beautiful in Upstate, NY. I love to see where people are from when they post. Mattshor, I like knowing that you were running with your dog not so far from me, if you're located in western Mass, and that our weather was probably similar. MiahTay, I wondered where you were that it was 70! New spring is just so wonderful.

I had written that I needed to eat something besides nori wrapped vegetables and salad a few days ago. But it seems to be the easiest thing right now. I'm not doing well with dehydrated food. And the first thing I thought when I woke up was that I wanted nori -- immediately! I suppose I must be craving sea veggies. I bought dulse and arame too.

I'm settling into the raw much easier lately. At 75 days, my body is still doing much detoxing. I'm trusting in its inherent intelligence and taking the energy with the fatigue.

Sorry for the long post. I feel like I'm finally beginning to join this forum after so long.

Good morning! My day is going to get busy here in a little bit so I figured I better check in. I am having a pot luck at my house today (not raw) and I will be serving tacos - and I'm going to make myself RAW taco salad. Sundays are always my hardest day. Too much food around. So, yesterday and today been really enjoying just plain fruit for most of my day, it feels so good!

Food for today:
Plum
BAnana
Tangelo
L - Banana with Buckwheat/raisins/walnut milk
D - Taco Salad
Dessert - I might make some more Frozen "Snicker" Bites (I posted the recipe on the recipes thread)

Have a GREAT raw day!

Heather

i haven't eaten very much yet. in the morning i had an orange juice made of 4 freshly juiced oranges. then i had some 4 or 5 flex seeds cracker with a bit of guacamole. for the evening i'm having a honey melon i think. before that i will have what came out from mixing the rest of some of my veggies ... i added: zucchini, carrot, mushrooms, onions, agave syrup, salt, pepper, pumpkin seeds oil, soya sauce, cashews, waltnuts and a sort of almond paste i had made some days ago ... not from almonds, but from various other nuts, but it has the texture and a taste of almond paste ... the paste doesn't really look very tasty, but it doesn't taste too bad ... :-D

the pizza yesterday was so tasty, i would love to eat it again, but i don't have an enchilada crust at hand animore ... :-(( what i noticed is the veggies turn bad so quickly ... the zucchinis were good for only 3 days ... :-((
take care and best of luck for us all :D

Greetings and Happy Sunday!

Heather: How did your the Sugar Cream Pie go over? I'm sorry if you already posted about it, but was wondering:) also, where do you get sunflower seeds for sprouting? The sprouts are delish - but I think I may have to order the seeds......

So today: Big GS: banana, kale, pineapple

It is cold and rainy and grey...I'd like some soup....might do something with miso and carrots or something like that.....Sunday is hard for me too......and I need to go shopping soon.....but I did put some apple almond cookies in the dehydrator yesterday...should be ready later today....might make some sweet potato chips too.......

Hi~
I'm still here, still raw, but I'm going to stop posting for now, as I begin a fast I'm led to do...
(so I don't want to focus on food at all right now)...

....my favorite Aunt died this morning, & her delayed cancer diagnosis has stirred up many things in me, especially pertaining to my struggles to stay raw over the last few years (written about here, if anyone's interested... http://raw-stazia.blogspot.com/ ) & has impacted my own commitment to regaining my health.
Thanks for sharing the journey,

Getting ready to say goodbye to the weekend. Hope everyone fared well.

Made a juice for breakfast. I've seen people use their Vitamix's online, but it seems like such a nuisance for me. I don't like all the mess using the nut milk bag. And some of the pulp/fiber was coming through anyway. The time is not right yet for a juicer investment, but I'll be getting one as soon as I can.

Had nori rolls for lunch (I'm going to turn into a nori roll!) and a rather tasty pizza for dinner. Was nice to have something a little different for a change.

After 15 years of always cleaning the house by myself, I worked with my husband and son today on tag teaming. We were done in about an hour and a half, and I didn't feel so put upon. Can't really say why it took me so long to do this. For a long time, it didn't bother me. But I credit taking better care of myself to eating raw. When you can no longer cry in your yodels, you need to make changes!

Thanks, Heather, for letting me know where you are. It somehow makes me feel closer.

Goodnight all!

I feel like I am eating a lot today.

Had chocolate almond milk for breakfast (I just left the almond pulp in to see if it would be good, too much chewing required for a drink, i won't do that again!)
Had about 1/2 cup of blueberries at church and they were really good!
came home and made a big salad with mixed greens, spinach, craisens, avocado and my new favorite salad topping, pecans coated in agave (they totally taste candied and are so quick and easy to make!!)
I had lots of olives in between lunch and dinner
and then I made pesto stuffed mushrooms for dinner and now I am stuffed (no pun intended) I don't have a dehydrator so i put them in the oven under the broiler for about 5 minutes until the tops crisped and they were luke warm. I am hoping they are still "raw" but they were so good!!

Drinking water for the rest of the night!

posting for days 7 and 8

Saturday I was supposed to go skiing, but the weather was gross. Instead I went to hot yoga in the morning. I came home from class and made oatmeal. I had soaked the oats overnight and then put in the food processor with a banana, a handful of raisins, and some cinnamon. It was the first time I made it and I really liked it!

I had a big salad for lunch, and then we went to a friend's house to watch college basketball. Luckily they had a veggie tray so I munched on that and stayed away from the chips & salsa. I can't remember now what I had for dinner...maybe I didn't have dinner. I don't know...

Oh I know! I had sprouted some buckwheat grouts for the first time and Saturday morning I dehydrated bars. I mixed the grouts w/ a banana, raisins, and cinnamon...basically the same as my oatmeal except with grouts. I ate a couple of those and an apple.

Saturday night we went out w/ a friend who was in town from NY. I was proud of myself and only had 1 drink while we were out.

Sunday I made a juice with celery, apple, carrots, parsley & spinach. Then I took the pulp and mixed it w/ flax seeds that I had soaked overnight. I dehydrated those into crackers. When they were done, I mixed some tahini, miso, Braggs & tumeric and made a dip for the crackers.

Oh wait - before the juice I had a fruit bowl: mango, strawberries and kiwi. So good, don't know how I forgot! In the afternoon I was at a bridal shower and luckily there was a fruit plate. I had two plates full of strawberries and pineapple.

For dinner I had zucchini "pasta" on top of a bed of spinach & parsley. I didn't make a sauce because I didn't feel like washing the food processor, so I just chopped cherry tomatoes, red peppers, and a few raw olives. After that, I shared a pear and a mango w/ my husband. Geez - I had a lot of fruit yesterday.

I haven't seen a thread yet for day 9, so I'll post my day so far here. For b-fast, I had three kiwis and 2 oranges. For lunch I had the same thing as dinner last night, minus the olives. hmm...now that I realized how much fruit I had yesterday and how much I already had today, I'm thinking I'll just have veggies for the rest of today.

Day 71!

I've been CRAZY hungry the past couple of days. Usually I eat pretty light but all weekend I've just been ridiculously hungry. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's because my cycle is about to start or simply because I was making all sorts of new recipes... or maybe a little of both. I shouldn't be too terribly worried, it was all raw and I've been exercising a good bit. Still though, it just seems like so much compared to what I usually eat.

At work today I got so hungry I dug an emergency LaraBar out of my purse. Bleck... when I went raw a few years ago I lived on those things. Now though, I just find them so heavy and disgusting. This was an apple pie flavored one and, I swear, it tasted like it had an underlying mustardy flavor to me.

I am proud of myself for exercising before work this morning though. Usually, on the days I work I always plan to work out when I get home but I'm just too wiped out to bother. Since I'm working all 5 days this week I decided I absolutely HAD to get up and do it early. I did 30 min. of walking & step aerobics, 50 push-ups and 50 crunches at 5 am. THEN, I decided to walk home from work instead of waiting for DH to come by and get me on his way home so that was another 30 min. And then, I decided to do another 55 crunches and 50 push-ups. That should make up for all that food I ate today.

Food today:
1/2 honeydew w/berries
apple
3 mushroom loaf wraps (small romaine leaves, sliced peppers & onions, a little drizzle of raw ranch)
kale chips (lots)
4 oz. corny salad
3 cashew cookies (cashews & dates blended then dehydrated)
LaraBar

Exercise today:
105 crunches
100 push-ups
30 min. walking/stepping
30 min. walking home from work

I am still hanging in here 1/3 of my way through this challenge! But... I had tea yesterday. I know the raw community says sun tea is OK but it was snowing at my house and sun tea wasn't happening. I was just cold so I had hot tea. I let it boil then cool down before I poured the water over my tea. I ended up having 3 cups and i still felt cold all day.

Can someone explain why we can't have tea? I made sure I drank it alone so it didn't interfere with any nutrient digestion. But I am correctable. It was caffiene free Good Earth Original (I love that stuff).

I am over 5 lbs down but I notice my weight isn't really moving much the past couple of days. I am waiting for my spiralizer to come and I didn't feel like salad so I had marinara yesterday over green beans.

Started today with a banana strawberry smoothie and haven't had lunch yet, I am thinking something with that marinara.

I am dying to make Alissa's raw ravioli but my spiralizer isn't scheduled to come till FRIDAY!!!

Hope everyone is having a good day. I was a bit lost yesterday without posting.

this morning I had an orange, and then a salad with spinach, parsley, apple, bee pollen & flax seed.

for lunch I had kelp noodles, mung bean sprouts, broccoli, bok choy & red chard in a dressing of miso, tahini, braggs, grated ginger, and fresh squeezed OJ.

I ate too early though. It's not quite 2 p.m. now and I'm hungry again. Oh well - I'll try to drink a bunch of water and hopefully that will tie me over.

not sure what dinner will be. I have more of the kelp noodle dish at home, so I'll probably just have that.

Hello, fellow rawbies! Since having ended a green smoothie and fruit fast last Saturday (I did it for 23 days), I need another thread to call home (can't talk about eating on the fasting threads!).

Since Saturday, I've been staying all raw and feel good about how I've been eating. I wanted to see how far I could go without nuts/seeds. I lasted until today. I just had one carob Raweo (ingredients listed on the package: almonds, cashews, honey, carob, coconut, vanilla bean, cinnamon). What's exciting is that it tasted really good! When I bought them several weeks ago, I was "yuck, carob!". Disappointing, because they were so expensive. I keep hoping I can grow into liking carob. When I eat chocolate, I eat it like an addict and it makes me itchy. Nothing like a fast to reprogram the taste buds! Now I'll be looking for a raweo recipe (I know I saw one somewhere). The store also had some chai-flavoured and lemon ones...yum! I've also been able to change the recipe for the chocolate sauce I put on banana ice cream, substituting carob for half of the cacao.

I'm planning to keep things simple as much as I can. My mind has already been busy thinking about raw recipes, but making that stuff has taken over too much in the past. But I'm still relatively new to raw, and need to find some more simple recipes that I like.

Will list what I ate today at the end of the day.

6 dates
tomato salad w/ 3 roma tomatoes, olive oil, dulse, dill, and salt and pepper
3 bananas
1/4 of a pineapple
about 5 or 6 straberries w/ coconut oil frosting
about 1/4 cup of almonds
yep, that's all i think...and that is quite alot for me! after dinner i felt a little crappy though b/c i ate soooo much. anyways, i feel much better now and i'm ready to prepare for tomorrow (making a sunflower pate for lunch).

11:00 am: Juice of 2 oranges and one grapefruit mixed with water and MSM

Between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm: 4 raw crackers with probiotic cashew cheeze and avocado spread; 6 small carrot pineapple scones; 2 small bowls of banana ice cream with choco-carob syrup; one orange; one Medjool date

Good morning all! I keep forgetting to post here! I am doing great this month. I am on day 21 for me!!! This is the longest I've been raw in a "straight stretch" since I can remember. When I started last month on a 10 day MC, I just put it in my mind that "this is it." I never want to go back to how I was feeling before. I've been on and off raw for about 3 years. I've had weeks of 100% and then weeks of 20%.....too much yo-yo to do my body any good.

NOW, I feel great. I feel like myself. Not as crazy emotional like I was before. I've released a total of 14 pounds since I started the MC. This is wonderful for me. I think I really needed to do a cleanse to get my body back to where it can start to release some of the fat I've been storing.

I am making sure each day to get in a GS. I am making this with tomatoes (usually organic cherry), a carrot, greens (lots of greens), wakame, celery, seasonings...spicy, warm seasonings like cumin, garlic, sea salt, and an indian spice mixture I can't remember the name of.

Anyway, I don't know what I'm eating today. I need to buy some more produce. I am getting bored with what I have, and I am running out of stuff. I found a GREAT, GREAT co-op about 20 miles away...you don't have to pay a membership. ALL of their produce is organic, and they have stuff that I haven't been able to find, like organic, raw saurkraut (I want to try it and see what it tastes like before I make it myself).

OK. I'm done posting. Everyone is doing great here. Have a great day.

Hi Everyone, sorry I missed the post yesterday. Today for breakfast I had a banana and some raw fruit leather and some water (not very hungry for some reason). I plan on having a large salad for lunch and nori rolls for dinner.

I'm having a raw dinner party Friday night and I'm trying to figure out what pairs well together. I was hoping for an appetizer, entree and dessert. Any ideas?

I was thinking of nori rolls for the main course.

Hope everyone's having a great day!

Mmm, that sounds delish Mattshor! I haven't really tried any recipes or anything fancy yet. It's been mostly just salads, meusli, smoothies and sushi.

Congrats Tvillemom! That's wonderful. I can't wait to start feeling the healthy effects everyone's talking about!

I haven't been here in a couple of days either. I've had a bz week so far. Food wise I'm still raw and still loving it! It's day eight for me. Like I said above I've been mainly living off salads, smoothies and stuff. Luckily I've always LOVED salad and I don't think I'll get sick of it. Today I'm going to have an almond, cranberry, apple, cinnamon meusli type thing for brekky. For lunch I'm going to have a big salad with hemp hearts and lentil sprouts, and I haven't decided on dinner yet. Maybe a smoothie and then a guacamole to munch on as a snack.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

ate way too much last night. got home from work and had an apple. then went for a 3 mile walk w/ a friend. got home and had two pears on a bed of spinach w/ some flax. then had the rest of my kelp noodle dish.

then my husband got home & we went grocery shopping. I got home & had cacao pudding w/ coconut cookies (both I bought at the store), and I stirred in some pumpkin seeds & buckwheat grouts to add some crunch to it. I wish I could say that was all...but then I was still wanting more so I made a small bowl of raisins, sunflower seeds, buckwheat grouts, and pumpkin seeds.

I was so bloated after all that! And by that time, it was almost 10 p.m. Way too late at night. I obviously didn't sleep well...and woke up really early this morning. Oh well - it was just one day. moving on today!

started my morning with an apple and two small tangerines. Lunch will be veggie wraps - chopped orange pepper, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, sprouts & celery wrapped in red chard.

banana pineapple smoothie with a bit of raw fudge!

nori rolls (I made a bunch and shared them with a friend who stopped by. He eats a SAD diet, but he liked the nori rolls a lot.)

a big salad with great fixins for dinner. It's funny, I've eaten salads with dinner everyday for years. But it was always the prerequisite; the first course. Now, I'm so thrilled and always satiated with just the salad. Crazy how things change.

chocolate ice cream with fudge and chocolate nibs mixed in. Sort of like a triple chocolate overload thing!

I've been raw longer now than I ever had before. I'm in the mid 70's or something. My body seemed to respond faster before. My skin is still breaking out a lot, I'm still dealing with way too much (yuk!) flatulence, and my daily bathroom habits (bowel movements) are quite erratic. Probably much more than I needed to share (sorry) but my point is that I'm ecstatic to be raw despite this stuff. I can see know that I've had problems with food since I was a little kid. I just turned 50 and if my body takes awhile to return to itself so be it. I'm happy to be doing this for it, and I'm grateful for all it's done for me despite the challenges.

I think I would like it better if I posted in the morning, but I never know what I'm going to eat!

Good night all...

good morning!
Started the day with a GS of spinach, strawberries, banana and nectarine. Tres delish! For lunch I am thinking some leftover ricotta tomatoes and pesto.

This morning I had some oat cereal (raw oats, soaked overnight) with almond milk, raisins, small diced apple, raspberries, blueberries, blueberries and strawberries (frozen, thawed). It was nice. I'm having 4 clementines right now and will have a kale salad for lunch (Kale, tomatoes, carrots, sprouts, all in lemon tahini dressing).

Not sure yet what I'll do for dinner tonight. Most likely another salad, hopefully with avocado (really craving avo today for some reason). I'll make Alissa's creamy italian dressing tomorrow (I love it!).

Happy Thursday!

So, first time in this thread.
Day twelve of a 100% raw diet...what have I had?

8am-
12oz fruit juice (8oz organic orange, 4oz organic lemon)
Larabar - pecan

9:30 - one organic gala apple

12pm -
kale and spinach salad with sprouts and tomatoes and a plum vinaigrette dressing (delicious).
raw soup - 2 bowls (idk what all was in it, the wifey made it...had miso in it though)
nuts - handful of both pecans and almonds

2pm -
16oz vegetable juice (spinach, celery, parsely, broccoli, cucumber)
8oz carrot/apple juice

this is about my standard MO.

Dinner will be at 5 or 6, probably some salad, leftover soup...something lite, I don't really crave food in the evenings anymore. Glass of wine and some pecans?

Have a good day!

ps - was really thinking about some coffee this afternoon for the first time in two weeks, but sipped on some B-supplemented water and it gave me the kick I needed.

aloe vera juice and chlorella in the wakeup time

10:30 a whole cantaloupe

2:30 an apple and a pear with almond butter

6:30 a bowl of guacamole.
(the first "recipe" I've had since starting raw, I almost peed myself it tasted so good)

7:30 a quart of grapefruit juice I drank from guilt, so as not to waste. but it was very good.

Matt, your food always sounds sooooo delicious!

Thanks! I love preparing food, and sharing it--makes the missionizing so much easier. Also, when coworkers keep saying: your food looks so amazing! Well, it's hard to feel deprived. Turnip ravioli are super easy to make, I can't believe that I have waited this long to start. I used to order them at Karyn's Raw in Chicago all the time.

Someday I'll have my own raw uncookbook.

the title is definitely an overstatement

but...I have been visiting with my very un-raw friends and it is not easy staying high raw....I have finally settled on raw 'til dinner when I add cooked
meat and try to have a big salad and share their cooked veggies

frankly, I don't feel any where near as great as I did after 1 month of very high raw, but one could get very hungry only eating the raw foods in a SAD household

I will do the best I can, but am more and more convinced that raw is better...did I mention that my face looks great? younger!!

Breakfast was a GS of Mango, Spinach, Coconut, Banana, Strawberry and some lemon juice.

Lunch is going to be the last of the turnip raviolis with chopped tomatoes and pesto, a spinach mushroom and sunflower seed salad, two bananas and some wheat crackers.

re: the crackers. Does chia work as a flax replacement in crackers? Or is there another binder that people can recommend? I just find that the flax gives a narsty after taste. With enough other flavors in the crackers I can get over it, but it's the only thing that keeps me from truly loving my dehydrated goodies.

Have you tried grinding the flax first instead of using them whole and soaked? I've found that I like them better that way as the flavor seems subtler. It makes a smoother cracker too, which I found to be less likely to crumble.

I've been using ground. Maybe I'll try using whole ones and see if that is an improvement.

I forgot to post yesterday. I ate raw food!

Fruit Smoothie for breakfast
Buckwheat cereal with brazil nut milk for my am snack
probably nori rolls later
salad and pizza for dinner

I bought 10 1bs of buckwheat and I think I'm finally ready to try mixing up some of my own recipes. I haven't been too thrilled with wheat berries or rye. Does anyone know if the seeds HAVE to be sprouted or if they can they just be soaked? Is sprouting supposed to make them a bit more nutritional?

Good day everyone!

yesterday I had berry 'yogurt' for breakfast and then strawberry 'cheesecake.' both from a raw restaurant and both amazingly delicious!

then I made a bunch of food to munch on while watching college b-ball.
'cheese' dip made w/ macadamia nuts, miso, lemon, and tumeric. 'beans' made from sunflower seeds, soaked sundried tomatoes, olives, miso, and lemon. mango guacamole which had avo, mango, cilantro, lime & cherry tomatoes. and then pico de gallo which had tomato, onion, pepper and cilantro. all yummy!

for dinner I had jicama salad: jicama, coconut, cilantro and lime

this morning I had apples & mango. lunch is the left over game food from yesterday. for dinner I'm going to make either falafel or hummus from the garbanzo beans I sprouted.

good morning y'all ... for me its like 10 am right now, i think you guys are behind me ... :D
so, i will have a fresh orange juice this morning, maybe mix some other fruit in, don#t know yet. then i thought of making rolls, unfortunately i still don#t have nori sheets, i must get these, i would love to make sushi. i also think of making spagetti and trying out the new spiral slicer i received yesterday :) then also i need to buy fresh produce as i nearly am out of anything at the moment.
yesterday i saw a commercial on chocolate on tv and i immediately thought how great it would be to have something sweet now ... so i went to the kitchen and made alissa's banana crepes and the cream to it ... i was completely satisfied with that and didn't have the cravings anymore ... really amazing :-D i was sooo glad i already had the banana leather ready made!
well, y'all have a great day and good luck to all of us!!

So, today: big GS, salad with Alissa's honey mustard sauce, avos, jicama salad, almond/apple cookies, banana crepes sound good - or sugar cream pie....and likely another GS. I seem to do better if I have 2 GS in the day.....Enjoy your day! warmly, Deb

Hello,
I've been raw 100% for a while since last summer and last night I caved and ate some SAD for dinner. SAD foods don't taste very good like raw does. RAW tastes SOO much better.. I will be eating some KALE salad today with some tomatoes for lunch. :)
so RAW I be. I will post later on the rest of my foods for the day.

Hello,
I caved and ate some SAD last night at a restaurant although I did order a salad. I've been raw since last year. SAD doesn't taste as good as raw foods. I think Raw is the best way to be although can be inconvenient at times if you're not a person who plans ahead. :(
I will eat my KALE today!! YUM!
Posting later on what else I eat.

I just discovered this site and this group, so I am pretty much 14 days behind everyone else :( but I really want to do this too. So, this will be my first 100% raw day in a while. I was raw for a month last summer, and ever since then I've eaten a lot of salads and fruit and been maybe 50% raw, but with stressful college courses, lots of late nights and dorm living, I've been a bad girl... So my goal is to finish out March in style! I'm going to go eat a grapefruit now :) and then buy some Get Lost tea for my nasty binge tooth.

hello all,

I just came across this thread this morning. I've been reading a lot about the Raw food diet and would like to try and challenge, even though I am two weeks behind!

Quick question..What do people on raw food diets drink? I understand the whole juice/veggie juice thing. But Can we drink soy milk too?

I also read we should avoid wheat and potatoes..does that include like wheat germ, buckwheat powders and sweet potatoes?

Thanks~

Starting off the day with a kale and apple GS with a healthy dose of curry and chili powder. Really strong but really yummy.

Yesterday's flax did an amazing job of cleaning me out. Ani's pancakes are very quickly going to become a household favorite!

As far as lunch is concerned, just going to play it by ear. maybe some veggies with Green Tehina.

Today has started really well. I have to make the 2 hr drive to waco in a couple of hours but before then I'm going to stop at Sprouts and buy enough raw food to last me the week until I come home again on Friday night. I had a grapefruit and some Get Lost tea for breakfast, and now my family is making a lunch of grilled salmon and salad, but I'm opting for a large Cortland apple (my favorite!!) and a large avocado (delish!). I haven't had any nasty cravings, surprisingly, but I think it is because I have gotten so sick and disgusted with my habit of stuffing myself waayy past full, on a regular basis. I became revolted with myself, and was contemplating bulimia so that I could continue my binges without being uncomfortably stuffed. Not good :(. So, I'm picking up raw again, and I feel wonderful. Just want to lose several inches off my waist and get a more defined jawline.

I did not feel well today! I ran 14 miles yesterday and had a full day of commitments (not my ideal saturday) and i woke up today and my period started, I felt constipated (no one eating like me should be constipated!) and like i was getting a bladder infection! I don't really know what was up but I ate a big salad for lunch with spinach and lots of veggies and I drank some apple lemon juice and then slept for for 4 hours!! I guess my body needed some TLC! I feel better this evening but I am still going to take it easy and make sure I get enough greens tomorrow (I ate nuts and craisens on my run, maybe that was the problem).

I am down over 7 lbs! Today was my lowest weight day (even with my period starting) since I started raw.

We went to a raw restaurant last night for date night. The food was OK. I like my marinara sauce better and it was supposed to come with crackers and it didn't and I didn't remember till I got home. My husband ordered a chocolate coconut drink that was too sweet coconutty so I couldn't drink it. We ended up sharing a table with some people and had some good conversation about health. It was fun, but not like going to Red Robin!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I spent mine cleaning, but it was raining all weekend, so I didn't feel like I was really missing much outdoors. Today is actually Day 37 for me but I am really looking forward to the end of my second challenge. New challenges bring new goals, etc.

So, Today:

Smoothie with hemp protein, maca, mixed berries, peaches, almond milk

Large Salad
Nori rolls
yummi dessert that I have yet to make!

Have a great day!

I did a fast until mid-Feb, then transitioned to mostly raw. i joined this challenge March 1 and have posted only intermittently due to not being 100% raw.

Today, I decided to come back, re-commit and accept that I can only do the best that I can. My non-rawness has been 1-2 meals/week usually surroundimg social obligations plus some questionable condiments.

My commitment today and from here on out is to a) accept X% raw for now and to just slowly make improvements. I realized this weekend that I feel pretty good and I'm doing WAY better than pre-fast.

Food for today so far --

B- 2 big cups of raw hot cocoa (cacao + agave)

S - two boxes organic raisins

L - big salad w/ lettuce, broccoli, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, hot peppers, olives and sunflower seeds, teeny splash of EVOO and balsamic vinegar

S - more raw cocoa, 1 apple, 1 banana

D - tried to make pesto and ruined it with both too much salt and old pine nuts. So, I snacked on 1/2 an apple and raw crackers with almond butter and agave and cashews and raisins

D - take 2 - Kale salad (yummy!!!!!) and coconut water

Kiropa: I too have posted sporatically due to slipping, mainly due to not planning correctly, and having unexpected appointments that derailed my planning...it is very challenging also making family meals! But, every day Raw is better than not! My challenge is to stay in the Challenge as much as possible this month!

Mattshor: I do enjoy Ani's pancakes a lot....love the cleansing factor too! I added some vanilla to the batter yesterday and they are so yummy!

Rawveggie: It sounds like you are listening to your body, but careful limiting or dropping staples.....for me, that has not worked out so well, but you know yourself best;)

So today: I enjoyed a bowl of shredded apple, raisins, walnuts, banana, almond milk, cinnamon...mmmmmmm

Also had some of Ani's pancakes.......soon to have my Green Smoothie: spinach, banana, water

I have Jicama salad that I will finish today.......along with fresh veggies and salad..................hmmmmm we'll have to see what else!

Make it a great Day! Deb

OK - I, too, am posting sporadically. I have stayed raw, I've just been eating the same darn things day in and day out. I'm not really so tired of it, but it seems silly to post the exact same details.

So far, I ate some buckwheat cereal with brazil nut milk for breakfast. Not my best start as I usually like to start with fruit, but it felt easier as I was catching up on all my reading to be done. I'm out of nori rolls, so I'll have to get creative with lunch. I'm planning to make a few desserts (have to make sure that sweet tooth is handled or it could all go to hell!). I'm going to make some sauce for yet another pizza. As I've said before, I really can't do the dehydrated foods well at this point, but I don't know what else to do. I like to read all the posts because I get other ideas, even if I'm not yet doing anything about it. I have so many cookbooks, it just feels like life is busy and I'm keeping it as simple (albeit boring) as possible.

Thanks, everyone, for continuing to post...

Saturday I was skiing all day. I had a couple bananas and a raw bar for b-fast and then I packed another bar in my pocket for while I was skiing. For lunch I had a couple of apples and some sliced veggies.
when I got back to town, I was tired and didn't want to make dinner so I stopped at a raw restaurant and had "sea boats" which were basically a pate w/ sea veggies on top of kale leaves. it was really good. and I also had the macadamia parfait for dessert which was awesome.

Sunday I had some raw oatmeal and strawberries for b-fast
I had a big salad for lunch & some raw chocolate.
for dinner, I had some more oatmeal.

this morning I had juice: apples, grapefruit, kiwi and ginger. then I had another juice with apple, celery, greens, sunchokes, and carrots.
for lunch I had zucchini pasta w/ tomato sauce.

Artgirly: this thread is for people new to raw foods or people who are re-commiting to raw. Every month there is a challenge to eat 100% raw for 30 days and the thread is a place for support, recipes, daily meals ect.

So far I am still going strong. I ate kind of light today. My stomach was telling me to skip breakfast (which is something I very rarely do) so I drank 2 liters of water until 1:00 in the afternoon. I ate some strawberries at this point. At 3:30 I ate some sprouted crackers and young coconut ice cream (young coconut meat and water, dates and vanilla bean.) For dinner I drank a green juice: kale/broccoli steams/cucumber/apple. I think I'm out of my detox funk that I was in and I hope tomorrow is promising.

rawveggie, I love to stuff mushroom caps with a rich pâté and top with chopped tomato or avocado.

Yesterday I felt awful when I came home. Fell right asleep and stayed asleep until Y. came home around 8:30. At that point I was running a low-grade fever. Y. was amazing, went to the store and got me pounds of citrus and some more strawberries for himself. Made a giant smoothie of baby spinach, grapefruit, oranges and strawberries with a touch of agave. It was delicious. About 40 minutes later I was feeling almost 100% better.

This morning I had another big GS with spinach, oranges and strawberries. I may do another one for lunch when I get home. I feel a little under the weather still, but I'm back on my feet.

You guys are all doing great and help keep me motivated and inspired......I was bummed towards the end of last week when I realized that due to budget I have to wait until next week to go to the health food store and re stock on staples such as coconut oil, chia powder {love it in smoothies} and cacao....but I do have lots of flax, avos, agave, nuts etc., so I know it is just a matter of being creative...I do have lots of greens and fruits and veggies too.......

Raw Hope! I am over here in Kalamazoo, just around the corner from you! YES! I am delighted with the warmer weather today! :D

So today: Big GS: kale, banana, pineapple

Some of the flax pancakes that we've talked about on this thread in recent days.....I will make some more apple almond cookies....and more of the same: smoothies and salads....mmmmmmm make it a great Raw Day!

haha, i'll have to have a green smoothie too in honor of the holiday.

yesterday was 100% raw, yay!

today:

B- green tea w/ agave, raisins and almonds (= to 5 servings, yikes!)...

lunch will probably be a huge salad and dinner will either be a smoothie or soup. i am running low on produce. all i can really make is carrot soup or a fruit/greens smoothie.

i just ordered a trial of a produce delivery box that sends 10 varieties of in-season veggies to your door every week or month or whatever duration you choose. i'm excited for that!

i am a full-time working mom of 3 (with a hubby who works long hours) whose biggest challenge is not having what i need on-hand. hope this helps me!

last night I made cheesy kale chips. Whoa! I can already tell that they are going to be amazingly delicious. The sauce was incredible and would be an out of this world salad dressing.

I also made some jicama "cheese" fries for Y. who has been craving Doritos in a serious way. In a baggie I put some nutritional yeast, salt and a couple of shakes of chili powder. Threw some jicama that was cut into thick strips, a la fries. and shook the whole thing up. They were wonderful. Cheesy, salty, crunchy. Everything you need in a salty snack.

Breakfast today was flax pancake, and I am working on a romaine, lemon and apple GS.

yesterday was my best day yet, i think. had tea, almonds & raisins, delicious cole slaw (simply w/ hot chili sesame oil, brown rice vinegar and agave) and a pate (all the veggies in my house, handful of nuts, lemon juice, and garlic) rolled in nori, tea and 3 dates for dessert.

Been going through some detox this week coupled with the flu/strep going around the school right now. I took the day off, and ended up getting about 12 hours of sleep with a couple of interruptions, and looking forward to another nap this afternoon.

I've released another lb. That means that I am now, officially, no longer obese, but rather "merely" overweight. Is it an arbitrary and fine line? Yes. Does a difference in BMI of ±0.08 make such a big difference? Probably not. But for me, emotionally it makes a hell of a difference and i am really proud.

Yesterday I ate SO MUCH SALAD. Over the day I had three massive bowls and about half a head of kale, in the form of Cheezy Kale chips.

Today I am less hungry: I had one pancake and the last few kale chips. Some water to wash down my B12 and D. Now I'm going to take a nice bath and let myself relax some more and keep the detox moving along.

this morning I had chia pudding for b-fast. basically I just soaked a bunch of chia seeds in coconut water, added some spirulina, cherries, raspberries & blueberries. yum! So good that I had a second bowl a couple hours later.

not sure what I'm going to eat later today. We're going to an Irish bar to watch college basketball. I'm guessing the food there will be pretty awful. Hopefully I can figure out some sort of salad. otherwise, I just won't have anything. It's only a few hours...I can always wait until I get home to eat.

Oh wait - no I can't. After the game we have to go to a home owner's association meeting. It's going to be catered appetizers & wine. hmm...hopefully there will be a fruit or veggie tray.
Ooh - luckily the place they are having it is right by Whole Foods. I could always sneak out and buy some food and come back. hmm...
