View Full Version : Incredibly Frustrated

I'm so frustrated right now. I'm a type I Diabetic (coming up on my 5th anniversary of being diagnosed) and I've been eating 100% raw for two weeks. I feel a lot better, but haven't lost nearly as much weight as I want to. (I'm significantly overweight at 5'3" and 181 lbs). I've found SO much information about live foods healing diabetes, but all of the specifics are toward type II. I even watched "Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days" and they had a Type I, but they never gave any SPECIFICS about what types of raw foods he was eating!! Was he eating fruit? Did he have to cut out all carbs?
I'm using a lot less insulin than I was two weeks ago, but I want to get off insulin! I know it is possible and I know there are people out there who have done it and who have the knowledge of how. I tried to email Alissa, but just got a response saying she was travelling and to check this forum. I have heard Sergei Boutenko's (sp?) story, and I am in a very different situation since I"ve been on insulin for 5 years. Also, though I understand that most everyone has a diabetic aunt or uncle of some kind, I don't need any more info about Type II. I know this sounds a little ungrateful, but I am just so desperate to find the right information. i spend HOURS online searching and haven't come up with anything yet. I've basically read Alissa's book cover to cover and she briefly mentions diabetes, but it is aimed, again, at Type II's.
If anyone has any info or can get me in touch with someone I would be soo greatful. Coming up on my 5th Anniversary (March 17) has me hoping and praying that I will not have a 6th. I believe in the power of raw foods, but so far I've only seen a little weight loss (about 7 lbs or so) and better sleep, which, don't get me wrong, are GREAT things. I would just love love love to get off insulin and need more guidance.
Thanks so much.

I think that it is wonderful that you are choosing to heal your body in such a wholistic, healthful way, and good for you!! However, I think that only two weeks is a little too soon to be getting discouraged. Getting sick and getting healthy are both slow processes, and everything you do will put you a little closer to one end of the spectrum. You said you have noticed improvements in your life after only two weeks, and this is wonderful!!! Add those improvements after a whole month, year, or lifetime of raw, and just imagine how healthy you will feel!! Just stick with it, and don't feel discouraged!!! You are doing great, and your body really appreciates it!!! :)

Did I hear you say "I'm using a lot less insulin than I was two weeks ago"? Sounds like a very positive change to me! And a 7 lb weight loss? Give yourself a break and enjoy this new lifestyle! Take some of the pressure off of yourself and I bet you'll see alot of the changes you are looking for!!

Patience my dear! It takes time, but in 2 weeks you are seeing great results. Just keep plugging along!! It takes some time to rid your body of toxins. Give yourself a year to really see results, and be kind to yourself. It was already put well, that it takes awhile for illness to form, and it also takes some time to heal. It sounds like you are doing great! Keep at it! :)
PS. 7 lbs in 2 weeks is phenomenal! The body can only really rid itself of a few lbs a week, so you are right on track. 2-3 lbs a week is ideal actually, for long term results.

I think my frustration was a little misportrayed in my first post. I'm not frustrated with my lack of progress, I'm actually really happy to be sleeping better and using way less insulin. My frustration comes from all these stories (almost 'urban legends') about Type I Diabetes being cured with raw foods, but there doesn't seem to be any info about exactly how these former diabetics were eating. I guess THAT is the info I'm looking for.
Thanks for the responses though! I am also dealing with overcoming a serious binge eating disorder, and raw has really helped with that. So, really, only benefits so far, just frustration over lack of specific information (or my inability to find it)

AMASING results so far GREAT :D
Gabriel Cousens wrote a book: There is a cure for diabetis.
He have many years of experience with working with diabetics.
http://www.treeoflife.nu/
Maby you can contact them and hear them of theire experiences ???
Hippocrates health institute also treat people with diabetis:
http://www.hippocratesinst.org/
Brian Clement wrote several books, but im not totaly shure if he adress diabetis directly.
http://www.aliveraw.com/Articles/What-can-be-done-about-Type-1-Diabetes/ItemId/99.aspx
Thies two is the only ones I know of who does serious work with somthing like diabetis. Cousens is a MD and Clemet has medical doctores at the institute checking people out and folowering their progress. Both has years of experience with more serious diseases. So I would check them out if I was you :D
Bedst of luck on you healing journey to perfect health :D

Clare Marie.no urban legends here.Raw foodists get real results.Real people healing. It is only common sense that removing toxins while rebuilding the body(raw and living foods do both at the same time) rids the body of disease.
There is no way that CANNOT happen.
The testimonies you hear are real and can be your testimony. It will happen,WHEN is the question.Yet I would focus on wellness today.
In fact congratulations on the day you went raw.Let us know that anniversary and we will celebrate.Focus on the anniversary of your step to wellness instead of anniversary of diagnosis. What you focus on grows. Use your thinking to help your body heal.
It is ok exactly as it is in your process and healing. One more thought.I would record this progress because you will wish you did.You can then use it to help others.Because I KNOW you will have a testimony to the power of raw! Best of health to you!!!

Might I suggest you continue eating 100% Raw - focus on the HEALING and not so much the weight elimination. That will come. That will be a pleasant side effect, if you will. You WILL heal by eating 100% Raw. Our body's are VERY forgiving and heal VERY quickly. You have come to the best place for support.
DO you have Alissa's book and DVDs? Many questions you have are answered in there.
Many, many dis-eases have been healed simply by eating. Cancers, candida, diabetes, migraines, thyroid issues.
But YOU have to be the one in control. YOU have to be the one eating and fueling and healing and resting your body. YOU make the choices. No one else can do it for you.
Keep at it 100% Raw and you will be amazed as to how quickly you will heal. Give it time. Two weeks is not ANY time at all.
Like I posted in another thread - BE PATIENT! Please!
