Hi, I have a client with Fibromyalgia and I'd like to read some success stories ( if there is any?) on how people have healed this illness with raw foods.

Thanks!

I have a friend who comes to our rawfood potluck. She has fibromyalgia. She says that when she went vegan it got alot better. Now she's eating more raw (but I don't think cares to commit to the lifestyle), and knows that it helps. She has said that a couple of time wehn she departs from vegan fare, her pain returns.

I have Fibro and I can say without a doubt that cleaning up my lifestyle by reducing the toxins I expose myself too including what I eat has made a world of difference. I look forward to the day (my hope is this year!) where I can no longer say I have Fibro. And I KNOW that day will come.

With the exception of my thyroid medication, I am off all prescription medications, I am sleeping better and I am working on healing my IBS too!

It is hard to believe how far I've come especially in these last 6 months. Just last summer I was looking at having to stop working full time. My life felt extremely out of control. It doesn't today.

I started raw at the beginning of this year. It is such a joy to be free of cravings, and to not over eat. I've released 37 pounds since my lifestyle change began in January 2008 and since I've gone raw I haven't struggled at all with my eating disorder.

I find smelling SAD food very fulfilling! I'm not sure why but it works quite well for me. When I'm smelling it I let myself imagine the taste and then how I'd feel after wards (full, bloated, unsatisfied, etc) and that rids me of any cravings. In addition, I know full well that if I let myself "slip" I'll be slipping right back into ill health and that is my biggest motivator.

I'd be more than willing to share my story with anyone else who is suffering from Fibro. You CAN help yourself and you owe it to yourself. If I can do it so can you! I never imagined I'd be able to make all the changes I've undertaken and all my friends & family members continue to say they sure couldn't do it but they never lived each day like I did.

I used to say that I wanted a life. Now I tell myself instead that I have a life and I want to live it!

I HAD fibro, but raw cured me of it! I never could have thought with the pain I was in that it would ever totally go away, but it's been gone for over 4 years now since I've been raw. The times I have slipped on cooked food, I get puffy and stiff, but the pain I used to have while eating a SAD diet never totally comes back. (I'm convinced if I went back to that way of eating though, it would!)

I've met so many people that have fibro now and it's hard b/c they just don't want to hear that it can be cured by diet. Their doctors (who don't even know what/why/how the disease works to begin with) tell them there is no cure and no real treatment. It's a shame.

I think in Alissa's book is a success story about that. Check these out:

I suffered whole-body pain and while I was never diagnosed, my physical therapists, doctors and two friends who had Fibro all agreed with me that we believed what I had was indeed Fibro!

I was a teenager when I started experiencing debilitating cramps, aches, nerve pain, joint pain and muscle pain. I would lie awake at night crying and praying for the pain to go away but it was ENDLESS!!!

I had also suffered DAILY headaches and occasional migraines since I was about 10 yrs old.

HAD!!!

Since being introduced to raw foods 3 years ago, and ESPECIALLY since going on high raw (I eat between 90-100% raw foods now) early last year (April 2008), I have eliminated 90% of my previous pain!

The headaches are gone... the joint pain is gone... my arms don't get numb and weak like they used to.... my knees don't swell and sieze up anymore... my skin is generally clear and VIBRANT... I don't gain and lose, gain and lose weight like I used to (I am 5'5" and weigh consistently 120 lbs when on raw foods!!!).

Perhaps best of all, I no longer suffer continual fibro-like symptoms... the only time the pain resurfaces is when I begin eating cooked/processed foods again! Generally, I may eat some cooked for a week or two, and then return to 90% RAW - knowing what I know now about FREEDOM FROM PAIN, cooked food just isn't worth it anymore!! :D

I LOVE RAW!!!
