Two people told me that in this country (Romania) cheese is made from raw milk If it were pasteurized it wouldn't have the same taste. Should I be confident about eating cheese on a raw diet?

no. IMHO, cheese, raw or not, is not fit for human consumption-animal's milk is for baby animals. Watch The RAVE Diet dvd for graphic pictures of animal fat in arteries and blood samples.

According to Alissa's book, eating raw cheese wouldn't be okay, but there are other raw diets that would allow it. You have to decide what's right for you.

Raw or not, the human body is not meant to eat dairy and there are a lot of negative reactions that can come about from eating dairy.

^^I Agree with this, you definitely have to decide for yourself...Maybe do some reading on the different variations of raw food diets.....As Victoria Boutenko said, There are No Experts in the field of Raw Food, We are all Pioneers!

On a side note...if you're trying to get rid of cooked food cravings, continuing to eat cheese (even if raw) will definitely not help. Trust me...I know from experience ;)

You need to treat yourself and watch the movie "A diet for all reason"
Ideally, it would be wonderful for you to drop the cheese, but if you aren't ready then focus on the accomplish meaning for you to make room for the good stuff such raw food is amazing. I recommend that you take extra enzyme and perhaps drink a glass of vegetable juice to cancel the effect of the cheese.
Cheese is very hard on the body, there are too much fat and protein in it. Raw cheese is probably better but still ARM your body BECAUSE OUR BODY isn't really desing to eat dairy. Watch this DVD and make your own decision afterward.
I never thought that i could let go the cheese ever and i wished today i would of done this way more sooner. Vegan helpt me to heal my skin problem and so much more. You should see what animal fat does to your liver, quite scary. But if you aren't ready to let go or not convince, make sure that you eat in moderation with raw food.
Any milk is very addictive, even the milk of a mother, because it contains a substance to help the baby to want it and to bound with the mother. Once this is cleaned from your system, you will be ok not having dairy.
I love my raw cashew cheese, almond milk and raw ice cream so YUMMY.
Sending you love

I agree with this.. Plus, animals are still routinely killed and abused in the dairy industry. I definitely do not want to support that..

I went raw a few years ago and lost about 15 pounds the first couple of weeks. I hung out at the local natural foods store to hunt to raw foods to work with all the time. One day I discovered a raw cheese and thought I would try it and limit myself to 1 ounce per day. So I was very disciplined in my use of it and considered it a great addition to my raw veggies at night. In the 8-10 days it took me to each it, I lost ONE POUND. Needless to say, I did not buy it again. Tasty? YES! Worth it when I had 30 pounds to lose? NO. But ultimately, it is your decision. You must decide what reasons you are eating for and listen to your body as well.

For me, it is a BIG addiction to deal with...I just spent a few months off the wagon, eating cheese, and have 15lbs. extra to show for it! Besides, if you read The China Study, you will learn lots about what is wrong with eating animal proteins.
Cheese is addictive and many people struggle mightily with it. Learn all you can and make the best choices you can.

Amazing movie... I think I almost have enough reasons to never touch dairy and eggs ever...
My problem is that I cannot yet find enough variety in my raw diet. I want to be 100% raw but it's difficult when you're only eating 4 vegetables for example. That's why I thought dairy was a good addition... seems not.
Would honey be a good addition? Honey is made to be eaten by bees in the winter, right? The doctor didn't mention anything about honey.

I love the raw cheeses to make.I make the best Karat Kake with Creamy Cheeze Icing. It tastes amazing and just like the conventional.Yet feels great, like eating salad!!!!
Theres usually a creation in raw to duplicate any food you miss in cooked foods.

Why do you have so little variety?
I just started but my foods today included...
Kale, cilantro, celery, strawberries, apple, tangerine, hemp seeds, cashews, sundried tomatoes, lemon, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, sweet peppers, sprouted adzuki beans, sprouted mustard seeds. I have a salad I'm going to eat a little later that has cauliflower, green onions, sundried tomatoes, parsley, mint, cilantro and olive oil in it.
Not sure what is for dinner tonight but yeah variety I think is key :)

Because I'm living in a country with cold weather in the winter and imports like tomatoes are genetically modified. :(

What cold weather country? Maybe someone here lives or has lived there and give you some ideas.
Here's what I would suggest ~ get some seeds and sprout! Sprouts are GREAT nutrition, can be filling and there's no end to the variety.
Ummm, other suggestion? Move! :)

I would eat what your markets do have available. Cold weather months? How about winter squashes? I recently made pasta noodles with a winter squash. How about nuts? Sprouts are great too.
What about other traditional winter veggies?
Leafy greens? radishes? cabbage? cauliflower?

Sprouts are these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brussels_sprout?
This is my current 'diet': carrots, radishes, potatoes, cabbage, garlic & onions (last 2 very hard to eat raw though, they're way to spicy)
bananas, oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, apples
walnuts, peanuts
I also want to include seeds
But this list seems kind of inconsistent to me... I'm eating more fruits than vegetables by the way.
I didn't eat too much today though, didn't feel very hungry... I eat cheese in the 'morning' and felt very bad afterwards... after that I eat a few fruits, some walnuts, some peanuts, and very few vegetables. I'm not feeling hungry at all now and I also had the energy to strength train.

I do not think cow secretions are fit for human consumption. Casein has been associated with higher incidences of certain cancers. Most of the world is lactose-intolerant, and I believe that is for a reason. The proteins in milk actually leach calcium from the bones. Cow's milk is a suitable food...for baby cows.

No. The seeds you are talking about? IF they are raw, soak them, then allow them to sprout by keeping them wet. You'll get LOTS more nutrition from them soaked and sprouted than you will as seeds. Look here or google sprouting seeds or something of that nature.

Mihai, do you have access to any kind of green leafy vegetables?
Greens such as spinach, kale, dark green lettuce, nettle, baby green herbs, sprouts or other green leafys are a valuable addition to the raw diet. they contain a bunch of different minerals and some vitamins that are harder to find in other types of veg.
Check out the wiki entry for sprouts, these can be a great source of greens if grown for an extended amount of time. I find they grow best where I am in the cold weather (they grow inside at the temperature of the house).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprouting
I have a sprouter similar to the one in the link below:
http://www.sprout.net.au/prd_biosnacky_sprouter.htm
I use this mostly in the cooler weather as in the warmer weather the sprouts can tend to go yucky without adequate tending.

So you can make all those greens in the winter out of seeds?
klomasius
02-27-2009, 06:34 AM
Yup!
All you really need is somewhere with an even room temperature, a sprouter (which can be an old jar with a cloth over the open end), and seeds (the easiest IMHO are alfalfa, and mung beans.).
You just rinse them off and drain them every day, and after 3-5 days they will be sprouted. If you want them greener then wait a couple more days.
It's a REALLY cheap source of greens. Organic alfalfa seeds I get for a couple of dollars a packet and they last me for ages.

So you get the same result as in a garden?
klomasius
02-27-2009, 08:37 AM
Well, kind of.
Except these are ready to eat. The seeds are germinating and starting to fix atmospheric carbon using light energy as they use up their seed energy stores, so a bunch of nutrients are being produced that would otherwise not be found in just the inactive seed.

Sunflower seeds are great for sprouting. Makes wonderful greens. I think instead of eating cheese in the morning, start with a green smoothie with fruit and some sunflower sprouts or spinach. In my opinion it is less harmful for you to have a steamed root vegetable and cabbage stew than to eat raw cheese. I think it's probably much easier for you to go to raw and healthy eating than for a lot of people in America. We are so used to all the "advanced" garbage food that is sold in the supermarkets. All you have to do is ask your parents what they ate when they grew up and do the same. I know that the way we ate at home (in Germany) when I was a kid was fantastic compared to the junk I've eaten here in the last 38 years. Go back to your roots and tweak, improve, and have fun with your food.

You can soak sunflower seeds for about 4 hours, then grind them with other ingredients to make pates, raw vegan cheese, crackers... all types of things. Do you have a food processor?

as for honey...most vegans dont agree with eating honey as it comes from an animal..the bee's didnt make it for us to eat.
Some people will eat it and still call themselves vegans though....
