I'm wondering, does anyone else experience severe cotton mouth after oil pulling...? I just started OP yesterday. Managed 20 minutes easily. I used cold pressed olive oil b/c that's what I have in the house at the moment. What I spit out after 20 minutes was still yellow in color, but my teeth are definitely brighter. I rinse and brush and rinse again, drink a large glass of water, and I still have cotton mouth for a couple hours after OP.

Anyone else?

Not me. I wonder if it makes a difference using olive oil instead of sesame or sunflower seed, but I really don't know. How many times have you done it? Ah - actually I saw you just started yesterday. Nice work making it to the 20 minutes in the beginning! I wouldn't worry too much about it, just make sure to stay hydrated!

I'll let Eva answer that, she is the pro.

Here's my 2 cents on the original question. When I do it in the morning I'm usually very busy taking care of everyone else. I get distracted and sometimes forget to drink the 3 cups of water immediately afterwards. It only takes about 10 minutes for a huge thirst to hit and remind me. It has to be something to do with the oil pulling because I don't feel that kind of need for water any other time. Drink up. If your thirsty your body must need more water.

Thanks did some research on my own. Amazing what you can find and learn from this site.

Thank you for the thoughts... I'm OP-ing as I type this. Stopped by the HFS on the way home from work and found organic Sesame and Sunflower oil (I know organic is not required, but that's all they carry). Am trying the Sesame right now. My first impression.... Sesame oil tastes WAY better than Olive Oil for pulling...!!! OMG... way, WAY better. I didn't realize how "offensive" Olive Oil tasted.

I noticed another positive effect after OP last night. Granted, I've only done this 2x/day for 2 days now, but each time I'd rinse my mouth with water, rinse again w/ a bit of hydrogen peroxide, and then brush my teeth. I've used hydro peroxide before and it's always produced severe bubbling (obviously killing crud in my mouth and between teeth). It bubbled like made the first couple times I OP'd. But last night, I rinsed with it prior to brushing and... virtually no bubbling. Hmmm... am I to take this to mean that the oil is killing off the oral bacteria that has normally always been there???? I think maybe. :D

I came up with another question after researching more on OP today... some websites claim OP can make one's teeth go transparent. Is there any truth to this...? It wouldn't seem so since, as others have noted, it's just "food".

update: I'll be darned.... I just spit out the sesame oil and it was white. Snow white, no trace of yellow whatsoever. Guess that means I needed it,eh? Maybe I'll do another OP before bed.

sak12344, that's awesome! I've been using organic coconut oil for OP and I've been having great results with that. It tastes great and it turns your teeth very white. However, I recently discovered that the brand I have been using isn't raw. Doh! Guess I have to order it over the internet.

Ha! A pro at oil pulling. We've all got to be good at something. :p I think you probably found out everything you need, but just in case, I posted up some info that is a really basic, step-by-step page on how and why to oil pullhttp://uncooking101.com/step-by-step-guide-how-to-oil-pull.html. Sorry I didn't get back to share sooner. I'm out of town and have been causing trouble with friends and coworkers all day. :)
