So I bought a bunch of kale at the store and I love kale. Although the kale I bought looked a little different than the kale I normally buy. So I put it in my green smoothie (kale, parsley, cucumber, celery, 4 strawberries, 1/2 an apple, a small piece of ginger and a little lemon juice).
The kale bitterness is there and I can deal with it but I'm wondering if there is something that I can put in the smoothie to cut the bitterness a bit more? I also put a lot of kale in so that might be part of the issue but I rather keep the kale as is.

Try blending a strong fruit with it. Like more lemon - the insides of the lemon, or a grapefruit.
Kale is a very strong flavor...

A whole apple or pear will bring some sweetness. I like using a lot of kale too and that's what I do to cut it. Each day I try and make my green smoothies less sweet with fruit and more greens. (Still getting used to....)

I've saved many a bitter green smoothie with a sprinkle of Stevia powder. Normally I don't like the taste of stevia, but in a strong green smoothie it will take away the bitterness without adding any noticeable stevia flavor.

I enjoy kale juiced with celery, parsley, and apples. Maybe adding any of these to your green smoothies may help.

Bananas are always a base for any Smoothie I make.

I thought about adding banana but instead I added some mint leaves this morning and cilantro instead of parsley. It was a bit less bitter. I only have 1 more serving of kale left so I'll have to figure out what to do tomorrow.

I have heard of cutting the white stems out of the kale will reduce bitterness. I have not tried it yet.

I was shown how to do that without a knife. It's so easy! Wrap one hand around the base of the leaf, grab the end of the stem with the other hand, and pull. Presto! I think it does cut the bitterness and some fiber.
