i think they are fresh peas anyways. I got them in a container (they are not in pods, just the peas) at the asian market in the refrigerated section next to other fresh veggies. I was expecting them to be sweet & yummy like frozen peas, but they are starchy and bitter. I would imagine cooking them would solve the problem, but I don't want to do that!
I am wondering if I got a bad batch or if fresh peas really aren't so great uncooked. Anyone have any insights?

New baby peas fresh off the vine are scrumptuous. Maybe just blend them in a smoothie to not waste them...?

maybe they are edamame? they are a bit different- usually they are briefly steamed before eating.

Hmm! I had bought some peas in just the way you described, at an asian place. I put them in my pasta primavera and they were nice and sweet

They might be very mature. Older peas can taste a bit starchy.

They must be old as I kind of suspected. I am thinking they should look bright green, but these are on the dull side.

Bleck... I bought a pack of "fresh" peas at the farmer's market today and they were disgusting. I thought they tasted like hairspray. I'm betting the ones fresh off the bush would be delish though.

I bought some bag of peas frozen.. I was thinking I'd warm them under running warm water but then again is a bag of frozen peas really raw ??

Mostly not raw (they blanch them first), except for some of the organic ones, but you can call the manufacturer to make sure.

Do you know of any brands that are raw offhand? I love raw peas. When I was pregnant with my son I used to eat them by the bowl full!

I don't sorry, I have not bought any for a long time. There might be one named if you do a search on this forum.
