Okay, so this is the first time I've sprouted. I bought hulled barley from Natural Grocers (love that place). Left them in jar. Decided to go rinse and they all have little tails!

Okay, stupid question time: I ate some of the barley and I really liked it the way it was. Do I HAVE to sprout it?

For some reason, I read something else which confused me: sprouting seeds doesn't necessarily mean that you will see sprouting. Is this true? Like sprouting nuts, etc.?

Sigh.... perhaps I should just find out more info on sprouting...

Typically, you will see root from seeds. Walnut, pecan you won't. Perhaps we can see something with almond but i never really did neither with the cashew. I don't soak macadamian neither pine nuts.

So cool you got a root with barley. If you like it that way, why not. I read that the tale should be ideally twice the size the grain or seed.

If you saw a tail.....it has already sprouted. Now you can let the sprout grow longer if you chose.
