Hi fellow raw food aspirers. I'm having so much difficulty staying all raw. I attribute it to the fact that I have all sorts of "forbidden foods" in my house. My hubbie and kids will eat a salad for dinner but then want the "real "food like casserole, chicken, and pasta dishes. Staying vegan is easy as I am not at all tempted to eat animal foods or byproducts but the cooked vegan food is always so tempting.
Additionally, when I eat all raw I get tummie aches. Cooked food always settles my stomach. Has that ever happened to you?
Looking forward to posting again...

Oh, it's happened to lots of us. Read my confession below. But it's part of the learning. Learning what is right and works best for your body. Your mind is telling you, but your body is fooling your mind. Listen to your mind and then your body. You've got to do the mind thing first...

Mine had been a continuous journey. Always learning though with the help of RFT. Welcome to the journey.

Everytime you go through it, you learn more. When you eat some cooked, don't think of yourself as a failure, you aren't. As long as some part of you is committed to, and believes in eating as much raw as you can, you are still on the program. If you don't have it yet, get Alissa Cohen's book! She has a lot of really amazing replacements for many cooked things and so many tasty and really filling things that you won't have a chance to crave the rest.

tzip - Your journey and family situation is very similar to mine. The more I try, the closer to 100% I get. With digestive stuff, I too would get stomach aches after some raw foods. As Veganforlife added, keeping track of what works easily in your body and what doesn't helps with the belly aches. I am getting much better at that and I am sure you will too.

Good luck on your raw journey!

I can totally relate...I never actually yo-yo'd in my weight until raw, Lol!
But in my mind, I AM always a raw foodist, & feel 100% better in every way on 100% raw, so I keep on keepin' on, & & the more I do, the longer I maintain it each time, & the less time I get side-tracked when I do....

...you CAN do this, one day at a time! & maybe getting the family involved a little in food prep will help them be interested in raw versions of their favorite dishes!

Check out goneraw.com, you can look up recipes there based on what kitchen equipment you have, & there are numerous versions of almost every recipe, so you can find one based on the ingredients you have, usually! Having variety is important to being able to keep going, even if you still keep it fairly simple...

& it's usually raw desserts that draw people! & the more they see it's benefits in your life, they more open they'll be to joining, or at least supporting you!

How long can you go being raw before you start white-knuckling?

Maybe you could do Tonya Kay's approach to it, the 'no-will power way to transitioning'. She was vegan like you to start. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3ryGHor_fo

Listen luv...I'm new as well. Everyday you live and learn. The most important thing is to listen to YOUR body. You have access to all your questions and concerns within you...as we progress I think we lose that intuitive part of us...or maybe it gets drowned out...but it is still there waiting for your return. Give yourself a hug...you are, afterall, only human!! You are already on your way...remember we all crawled before running the marathon. But have your sneaks ready...so when it happens you're ready to go!!

Hmmmm I'm going to have to check out tonya too.

ok cheers!!
