Is tea ok to drink on a raw diet?

I love having a cup of green tea in the morning and evening to warm up, as my house is really cold (brrr), sooo I was wondering if I will still be able to do this on a raw diet?

Thanks so much!

There are no rules to the raw food diet and many are not 100% raw, I'm about 75-80% raw even though I know 100% is best.

I definitely don't think tea should be given up on a raw food diet, as teas have been used for thousands of years as healing remedies!

well, a true raw foodist only eats and drinks things that are 100% raw or heated up to the suns temp on ground... and doesn't smoke tobacco or other herbs because this is cooked and entering inside of you.

it's just up to you with what ratios you want to do.

and there's always mind over matter. one can heat up their body temp with just focus and intention.

I do consider myself to be 100% raw but I still indulge in the occasional cup of tea. I only do it when I think that the food police are not looking.
I do not believe that it leads to digestive leukocytosis and it is a nice treat so I say "why not".

what is digestive leukocytosis?

Dr. Kouchakoff's discovery concerned the leukocytes, the white blood cells.

It was found that after a person eats cooked food, his/her blood responds immediately by increasing the number of white blood cells. This is a well-known phenomena called 'digestive leukocytosis', in which there is a rise in the number of leukocytes - white blood cells - after eating.

Since digestive leukocytosis was always observed after a meal, it was considered to be a normal physiological response to eating. No one knew why the number of white cells rises after eating, since this appeared to be a stress response, as if the body was somehow reacting to something harmful such as infection, exposure to toxic chemicals or trauma.

Back in 1930, the Swiss researchers at the institute of Chemical Chemistry made a remarkable discovery. They found that eating raw, unaltered food did not cause a reaction in the blood. In addition, they found that if a food had been heated beyond a certain temperature (unique to each food), or if the food was processed (refined, chemicals added, etc.), this always caused a rise in the number of white cells in the blood.

I drink tea all the time now. Love it. Does that make me 95% Raw? Oh well if it does. Send the Raw police after me. At least I'll get 3 squares of Raw food in the slammer! :D I am 100% raw in my book! Dispute the fact I healed myself of two life debilitating illnesses in 11 months. LIFE-long illnesses!

I'm Raw baby!

Tis a personal choice...

For me, In the winter its essential, and I live in Los Angeles so I can only imagine colder climates....Without tea, my body would be sooo cold from all these cooling raw foods, requardless of how much warming spices I use.

But Vegan4life... AMEN!!! Last thing I want to be is a RIGHT WING RAW FOODIST!

No thank you!

i'm no rawfood police (never heard that term before) and personaly i don't care who's raw and to what degree..it's none of my business and my life doesn't depend on it.

but just sharing my thoughts... if people say they are 100% raw but admit they drink cooked items ect... that's an oxi moron to me. same thing goes when i read peoples comments here on forum saying they are 100% but include some cooked condiments.
it reminds me of an alcoholic saying they've been sober for a year but relapsed a few times, but only got wasted once during that year and/or only drank a few sips of a beer here and there, but doesn't count and considers itself sober for a solid year because he/she doesn't drink alcohol everyday like they use to in the past.

i will share a pet peeve of mine that is food related.. it's when people call themselves vegetarian yet eat all of or some of the following...dairy, eggs, chicken, fish, fruits and grains.
a vegetarian means one who only eats veggies.
i know they now have a whole list of different types of vegetarians now.
even a fast food commercial that was out a short while ago peeved me... he called himself a meatarian yet showed him eating his burger with fruits and veggies and bread.

i guess titles peeve me especialy when it's claimed yet is dishonest.

I think that the accepted definition for Vegetarian is one who consumes dairy and eggs and honey. You are Vegan if you do not consume those. This is what is accepted by most of society and sometimes we need these types of definitions to clarify things in our head. How else would you describe yourself when ordering in a restaurant. It makes life easy.
I consider myself to be 100% raw and that is what is important to me. If I choose to have some boiled water or even tea from time to time then that it what I chose to do. I am not going to beat myself up over it.

I think Tea is a bit of an exception anyway, because it isn't really a food...we aren't consuming it to feed ourselves, but to gain the health benefits. Its more like the "essence" of the plant it is made from...or something like that....(I am having trouble finding the right words, lol.)
I was reading that diff foods have diff temps they can be heated to before they are considered cooked, so perhaps tea just has a really high temperature it can be heated to before it is considered cooked??
I think that is how I am going to look at it! lol :D
