So, after giving up on my hunt for raw buckwheat, I went today with a friend to a little grocery store near the school we work at. 2 lbs of buckwheat later, I'm sitting here, happy as a clam, just chomping on it like it is cereal. I think I may have found love.
It's funny how many things I heard about on round one of raw that I avoided because I somehow just convinced myself that it wouldn't be good. I was such a fool!
Now I ask you, what's something that you were initially skeptical about trying when you first began raw that now you couldn't imagine not having?
for me:
Green Smoothies
Zucchini Pasta
Buckwheat

ooh - I love buckwheat too! I was so sad yesterday - I bought some on Friday, but when I looked for it yesterday I couldn't find it. The checker must have accidentally left it out of my bag or something. Last night I was at the store again so I got more. Luckily Whole Foods is really great about that kind of stuff - I explained the situation and they didn't charge me for the replacement bag.
hmm...before going raw I couldn't imagine drinking wheatgrass - now I have it every day!

I have to get some buckwheat groats, also. Hmm...
And I'm growing wheatgrass in my kitchen window :p
Love that stuff!

I'm not too familiar with Buckwheat. How do you eat it; what does it taste like?
I've yet to really broaden my raw fruits and veggies horizons. I tried dragonfruit (it was dried) for the first time a couple of weeks ago and loved it. That was out of the box for me.

I like buckwheat soaked, sprouted, and dehyrdated until crispy. I'm still skeptical about eating it right out of the bag. Its good that way, too?
I didn't like or understand green smoothies. I wouldn't drink water with a meal. Why add it to a smoothie? And the taste was awful. Things change! Now I can't go a single day without my green smoothie. :p

It reminds me of granola when it comes right out of the bag.
I soaked it overnight and then ran it through the food processor with some cinnamon and apples and dates, most amazing oatmeal ever. I want to try to make some granola.

How can you be sure it's raw?? I'm so disgusted with false advertising in this country  and the fact that it is government allowed!!
Anywhooooo sorry for that rant hahha...the way you make yours sound deeeeliteful!! I do miss my morning oatmeal but again it's not raw as I was sadly made aware of :( I heard oat grouts are very tough..how is the texture of soaked buckwheat?
Keep up the RAWsum work!!

I love buckwheat soaked, sprouted and dehydrated also, it tastes a bit like a crispy rice cereal texture but a bit more dense. Last night for dinner, I sat down to a bowl of bananas I mashed with a fork, some raisins, two handfuls of buckwheat and some walnut milk, I was Mmmming so loud my hubby asked WHAT are you eating! I just smiled and told him then asked if he wanted a bite - nope. Oh well, more for me ;). Oh, and you can be sure it's raw if it sprouts!
Blessings,
Heather

I bought Bob's red mill buckwheat, soaked it and sprouts started showing up the same day after I rinsed it. Raw buckwheat should sprout, cooked/processed buckwheat probably wouldn't sprout.

OH cool I was thinking some of Bob's RedMill stuff might be suspect but now I'm a happy camper...I have always used his raw wheat germ and flax meal but since starting this RAW journey and finding so many things that say RAW really aren't I got a little worried but mostly annoyed :p
Have a great weekend everyone!!
