Hi All,
I have been approximately 89% raw for the past 6 weeks. I feel like I have more energy...My nails are growing so fast and long. Anyhow, would someone please indulge my ignorance and explain to me why the Food For Life Breads are not raw. I read the ingredients, and am even more confused. It looks so healthy and natural, but it looks too soft to be raw bread. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I am not familiar with Food for life Breads, but it's not the ingredients that are the challenge, it is if any part of the bread as a whole, or the ingredients as separate parts have been heated above 115 degrees.
That is why some RAW bars, like some Lara bars are NOT 100% raw, if they have cocoa in them, then they are not 100% raw, as the bars have not been heated, but the cocoa has been heated before adding to the bar.
Hope this explains it, if not PM me, and I'll try to explain in more detail.
It's all about the temperature that kills the enzymes in the foods, and also about the life force in the foods, is why some raw foodists don't even eat anything dehydrated or frozen.
I do though.

... explain to me why the Food For Life Breads are not raw. They are baked. That's why they're not raw.
I read the ingredients, and am even more confused. What is it about the ingredients that is confusing to you?
It looks so healthy and natural, but it looks too soft to be raw bread.Raw bread is not bread as you know it. Raw bread contains neither yeast nor flour. Therefore, it is flat. It is dehydrated, not baked.
By the way, I've never heard of someone describing themselves as 89% raw!! How in the world do you calculate that? ;)

FYI, Natures First Law now sells a truly raw cocao (chocolate) bean.

I asked this same question not long ago and I was told it was raw. I buy the food for life breads too.. I use the tortillas for my sprout sandwiches...
it says :
ingredients: organic sprouted wheat, filtered water, organic unhulled sesame seeds, organic sprouted soybeans, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, organic sprouted lentils, organix sprouted spelt, sea salt.
The original- 100% flourless- complete protein Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted grain tortillas. No yeast- no added oil- no baking powder. Food For Life Tortillas have THE LIVE GRAIN DIFFERENCE!
Then it says : Out exclusive baking process preserves these valuable nutrients and retains the important natural fiber and bran.
Then in the front, in big letters.... "The Live Grain Difference!"
so it doesnt have flour or yeast....
is there any kind of bread you can buy in the market that IS raw?

The breads are baked. So they are not raw. They may start with raw ingredients, but after mixing them up, they bake them.
You asked if there is any bread on the market you can buy raw? Well, possibly at some health food store or large vegetarian markets, like Rainbow, you can buy raw crackers/bread. However, it is not like your traditional bread!
Oh, and by the way, Rainbow Market in San Francisco, not only has a large selection of dried raw food stuffs, but now in the refrigerated section, they have fresh prepared raw foods. They are made by Que SeRaw SeRaw. They are absolutely delicous. She usually brings in kale salad and spring rolls. Possibly, there could be more items, but at least those two items, so far.

hm.... I dont have that store here... I got mine at trader joes..the people didnt know when I asked if it was raw...a customer told me it was...I thought it was too, so I bought it. I feel bad about it now...like I did bad to my body the last couple weeks with this bread.....I guess it wasnt THAT bad? I dunno.... I'm gonna try health stores and ask the people who work there what bread is raw. I'll also keep a look out for other raw foods. Thank you.
