Hello, I'm new to the raw food life style and notice that I'm sensitive to some raw foods such as garlic, onions, peppers, oranges, walnuts and possibley cabbage.. Is this common?

I think I might be sensitive to garlic, I made raw pesto w/ 1 clove of garlic and woke up the next morning with a sore, dry throat.

Some ppl don't eat garlic/onion because they can upset their digestive system, so it's not uncommon. I think the same goes for peppers/capsicum.

You might have OAS. Oral Allergy Syndrome. It can happen if you have allergies to trees and grass. Your body mistakes the foods for pollen. I have it with almonds and pistachios. Often you can eat the food if it is cooked but not in the raw state.

I can't eat much garlic either raw or cooked. I don't like the taste of it for starters, but it also upsets my stomach. I can do one clove mixed into a large amount of food. That's about it. I usually leave it out if a recipe calls for it, or put in far less than is called for. Alas, my husband is Italian and to him, garlic is a food group. I have to make food separately for him. Our daughter used to love it but as she has gotten older, likes it less.

I also have a problem with most raw fruits. They give me terrible stomach pains. I don't really like the taste or texture of fruit so it really isn't a problem for me.

My mouth has been stinging/burning after I made an avocato dressing with garlic, and I have a headache. I have a doctor that does Vega testing so I will get him to test me on all the veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds. Then I shall continue my journey to perfect health!

What is Vega testing? I've had IgE and IgG testing done. I test allergic IgG to almonds but not allergic IgE. Not sure if they tested IgG for pistachio, but they are something I didn't eat much of. I just know the last time I put one in my mouth there was immediate itching.

Because our body systems are so weighed down and the liver(which filters everything) is so very taxed, allergies appear.
You might find,as you get rawer(?) and rawer that your allergies simply disappear. You might not even notice. I have had so much so away that I did not notice.
Yet you might be more sensitive to harmful things.Cig smoke, exhaust, fuel smell etc.The cleaner you get the more the body asks you to avoid these harmful things. So fun.

I used to be sensitive to honey mellon, they would give me nausea now i am fine with it. Perhaps, your body will change as you stay 100% raw and will require those food down the road but i wouldn't worry about it and just eat the food that goes well with my body.

Best wishes!

Im sensitive to alot of raw fruits and vegies too, but many of them has gotten a lot better as I detox and my body is finding its balance. It will get better :D but a good idear is to stay away from the foods that you know you are reacting to for a while, and then try them out one by one in small amounds and see what happends. Give your body time, dont rush it.
Oh by the way there is foods that I reacts to doing the pollen seson and dont when it is winther. It can also be a sertain combination of foods that you are reacting to. For example I cant do spinat and mango together. Spinat with banana is fine mango with other greens is fine too, just not together. You have to find out what your body like and dont likes :)
