I am on a Juice Feast but I can't seem to give up my morning mate'. I drink about 24 oz of STRONG tea. I love it. It's like candy to me. I need a reality check on WHY I shouldn't be doing this, esp on a juice feast. AS writes that we shouldn't have tea on a fast....but I'm not exactly sure why. Does anyone know? She says herbal tea is fine, but not green tea. I'm guessing that mate' falls into the green tea category? I've heard wonderful things about it-so I can't really find a reason to give it up. Anyone got somethin' for me to set me straight?

First of all, if you can't/wont give something up, you're addicted. That shows it's not good.
If I were you, I'd google the ingredients in what you're drinking. If there's caffeine then you're defeating the purpose of the feast.
Finally, before drinking the mate, (if you're not already doing this) have 24 ounces of juice and see if you even still want it.

the best thing for getting rid of addictions is to replace your old habits with raw new fresh ones. Give it a try

tea/coffee/caffeine is stimulating and when you are fasting you don't want a lot of that. yes garlic and onion is also considered stimulating and some people add these to their juices but usually it's in much smaller quantities than a cup of tea. (garlic juice for example would be 1/2 a tsp maybe???)
and... the point of fasting is to give up. it's not just giving up solids and drinking anything that is liquid... it's bringing greater health and healing into your body. if you are putting something into your body daily which causes your body to focus on it instead of on it's job... then you don't gain the same benefits.
but... it's your fast. it's your body. YOU get to make the decision for you. so if this is something you want to do... then do it. but perhaps remain open to the idea of releasing this habit for short periods of time to see how your body feels without it.
