Hi,
I live in New Jersey and have been reading this board for a month or so. I have been vegetarian for a long time and vegan for maybe 5 or 6 years. In January, I stumbled into to a restaurant in New York, Counter, that serves cooked and some raw food, and it was awesome! It really changed the whole way I thought about veggies.
Anyhow, since that time, I have been eating tons more raw food, bought a bunch of new cookbooks and emptied out the library shelf of all their raw food books. I also met a few people in my town that eat that way, surprisingly enough just by asking people what kind of blender they had!
It is sort of exciting for me to have all these new recipes to work with, and it is also very great that my husband will try them. He totally suprised me by turning into big a huge green smoothie fan, and he is a vegan that is not very fond of vegetables, so that is very cool!
I really enjoy reading this board, and while I'm very spotty on commenting, I really appreciate all the support on this board!

Greetings from another NJ raw foodie (mostly!) Where are you? When home in NJ (down in VA 'cause the Navy said so until Jul) I am in Morris & Mercer Co (BF in Morris, so I am mostly there!) and work in Union Co. I am interested in where you shop (for the good deals) Thanks for joining the board!!

Welcome Katinka-Katinka. Good news about your husband liking green smoothies.
Anyhow, since that time, I have been eating tons more raw food, bought a bunch of new cookbooks and emptied out the library shelf of all their raw food books. I also met a few people in my town that eat that way, surprisingly enough just by asking people what kind of blender they had!

Good stuff! What a wonderful thing to just stumble onto raw food and raw foodists! :) My husband surprised me too re: green smoothies. He LOVES them (and most of the stuff I make), but he is a die-hard meat-eater. It is what it is.
I'm wondering how your hubby got to be a vegan who doesn't like veggies?! LOL, but that may be a question for another day.
So, I got it that you may not post all the time -- but I hope you enjoy what you see when you have the time to peruse the board. :) ;)

Hello katinka-katinka I'm a newbie too and I live in NJ as well LOL I'm by clark/rahway GSP x135. You and LotsaRaw aren't that far from me actually. I found this site after already belonging to another one
I have done every type of "diet" from sad to veg...vegan to frutitarian both had me gain quite a bit of weight actually , wheat free, Body type, mono & food combining, I have done low carb even the dreaded Atkins du du duuuuuuun  I think that last one kinda aged me! No good NOOO good. So when I went on the before and afters and saw their fountain of youth transformations I got so inspired and decided I gotta do this!!
I know, I know... one needs to do this for the health of it...yes that's true but I'm looking at my mug in the mirror not my cells if ya know what I mean!! I am feeling better and I'm not 100% YET. Do I struggle yes but I am really trying to listen to my body...tougher than it sounds especially when I have selective hearing :p
So best of luck to you. This site and the people here are great. Very friendly and helpful. Fantastic that your husband is being supportive. Mine is as well so we are fortunate in that area. My husband eats mainly veg dishes as well. But he LIVES on rice. If I ate that much rice I would easily weigh a ton. I try to switch him to brown rice but he insists on his basmati and jasmine. He is very healthy so not like I have a good argument for him to not eat it.
Anywaaaay WELCOME. Look forward to sharing your journey.
