I was thinking the other day about possibly starting a water fast with a few juice days in between. (about 2 weeks) My backround: 20 year old college student, works out 5-6x a week, raw for a month, and feeling really stressed with school right now. Raw has helped me out tremendously, but I feel like need some spiritual help. Obviously I realize that I cannot do strenous exercise, so I thought giving my body some time off. I have never attempted any sort of fast, but I noticed my appetite as of late has been miniscule (detox!?!) and I think it could be a sign to do some sort of cleansing. Also, is it a bad idea to fast under stressful times? I thought it might help me to focus better and handle situations better, but maybe that is way wrong. What have been your experienes on a primarily water fast, and are there any cautionary side effects that I should be aware of? If any college students here have done this, I would love to hear from you. :)

i'm not a college student but i can tell you:
sometimes i find it very difficult to focus on a fast
sometimes stress and fasting can make it difficult for me to focus
but
sometimes i am soooooo clear and focused when i fast
often stress and fasting are a beautiful sonata... where one just simply compliments the other and assists me so much.
so... you gotta try it out for yourself. in my experience... every single fast i've done has been different. different days during my fast gift me with different experiences...
so... be prepared for change, be prepared for whatever comes and be willing to go with the flow.

I have read that a water fast can be dangerous unless your body is very clean first.
You should do things in steps and not try to be overambitious as you have a better chance of succeeding that way.
Set yourself weekly goals to do a bit better each week and stick with them. The water fasting stage will come. I have been raw for almost 4 years and I do not feel that I am there yet.

he subject of the water fasting diet is such a nice diet.It seems to be a big uprising in the movement throughout the media. But does it really work or are people just trying to sell more of their products, trying to hit on the latest fad?
The water fasting diet is actually a type of lifestyle that can be used by nearly everyone with great results.
Here are some facts :
First of all, research has conclusively proven that during a fast, you burn off a lot more fat than when you simply eat regularly throughout the day. Also, a few hours into a 24 hour fast, which I recommend, your body starts increasing the production of human growth hormone (HGH) which does several things including:
1. Burns more fat
2. Helps build and preserve muscle
3. Has anti-aging properties
Another shocking thing to know about the water fasting diet is that while you're doing it, your body is finally getting a much needed break and will start to repair, detoxify and cleanse itself.
