Hello,
I want to go raw, but I don't like much fruits or veggies. I do like all the processed foods, but my body does not seem to like them. I am about 55lbs overweight, very low energy, and I just not motivated to do much of anything. This is not the kind of life I want!

How do I get started? Find recipes? Any info would help. I am determined to get through the next 30 days and be better off for doing so.

Thank you so much.

It is possible you could be suffering from depression from the food you are eating, so when you change your diet your mental outlook will change as well. I know because I felt that way too. I would get depressed and tired after I ate. There has got to be some fruits or vegetables that you like? Even if it is just one, start there.

I could be wrong but I feel that unless you do a lot of preparation it will be difficult to go straight from all processed to all raw. I am going from fresh vegan to raw and find it hard to have enough nice things in my fridge to ensure that I do not give in to temptation. Maybe you should start with one raw meal a day for a while and then go on to 2 and so on. Rome wasnt built in a day. I think that your chances of success would be greater if you do not expect too much at once.

if you haven't already, and you are serious about this, get Alissa's book. it is extremely informative, and has lots of good recipes that you can prepare ahead of time, like sport said so that you wont give into temptation. she even gives you grocery lists and meal plans in the book.

and, as said above already, start with something you like. incorporating one meal then two, etc is a really good idea.

also, try new things that you haven't tried before. you may find out you have found lots of new veggies, fruits, or nuts that you now love, and that will make it easier for you. be adventurous with your food!

good luck!

Hello, and welcome, Sealillies!

You can do this! I went from eating junk food to going 100 percent raw overnight, literally. Some of the positive side effects of my going raw so far have been too numerous to count, though I have lost 46 pounds in two and three quarters months. So, you can do this, too. Summer is abundant in wonderful fruit and veggie choices, all kinds of berries, squashes, so this is a great time to get started on your journey.

All the best to you!

^speaking of that, i went with my fiance to a mexican restaurant today. not wanting to stray off the rawsomeness of this diet, i ordered, lol, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado. what i got, was, about 1/2-1 head of shredded iceberg lettuce, 1 tomato slice (just a slice) laid on top and 1 avocado slice (just a slice), and teeny slices at that. i asked for more avo and tomato, but still didn't get all that much. in the end, i found the iceberg to be pretty palatable all on its own, surprisingly. i just lightly salted and peppered it. i was really surprised i was able to eat mainly just plain shredded iceberg lettuce.

Hi,
Thank you all!! It is hard changing my eatting habits. Junk food is sooo ADDICTING(sp). With being able to find support and to talk openly without judgement is soooo great. I don't know if I will be able to go 100% raw, but I want to be at lease 90-95% raw.
Thank you
Lisa

P.S. I have been eatting raw for a day and have lost 2.5lbs!!! It's probably water weight, but the scale move down and it needs to move down another 55lbs.

Do us and yourself a favor sealillies. Don't focus on losing weight. That is a lot of pressure on you. Do this because you will feel better and it is healthier for you! Stop getting on that scale! Just let it happen. Concentrate on positive things. If you are a Christian/Jew, praise and thank God for leading you down this path. You are here at this point in time in your life for a reason.

There has got to be SOME friuts that you like. What about melons? banannas? raisins? dates? grapes? Most people like these friuts. This is a GREAT time to go raw as far as food availablity. I can't wait till the Watermelons are ready. Should be soon! Try some of the sweet dessert recipies. These really helped me a lot. I like Allisa's Date Nut Torte and Blueberry Pie. I have these ready all the time.

What appliances do you have? A food processor is essential in my opinon. I went out and splurged and got a good one - Cuisinart. I use it nearly everyday. A blender is another good investment.

Post everyday at first to let us know how you are doing. This will also help you to keep focused and encouraged.
