Hi,
The recipe calls for sundried tomato. Please tell me I can simply dehydrate some tomato in my Excalibur and that's what they are??????
I am asking for a recipe I need to make later today and if my thought is incorrect, I'll need to add SDT's to my grocery list when I go in about two hours. Heellp. Thanks.

I've never made that dish before, I don't do much mixing. But I will tell you why it might call for Sun Dried. One reason is if the sauce is to be real "RED" the Sun Dried will add that Strong Color to your recipe plus added Flavor.

Okay. I am wondering; however, if dehydrating is similar to "sun" drying???
Thanks for the explanation in the meanwhile.

They are Both.....just taking the Water out, leaving a concentrated form. Different Methods but in the end the same.

Oh I do tomatoes all the time during the season in my dehydrator. Just slice 'em about 1/4" thick and lay out on the regular mesh screens, and dry until leathery. Sure is nice to have some bags of these around during the winter, where, even here in CA, there aren't really that many decent tomatoes around!
