Seriously.

I've been gearing up for awhile to go raw tomorrow and have read everything, everywhere I can find. There are a lot of neat, helpful places but something about you guys... makes me want to be raw, forever. Thank you for the excitement and commitment that makes a newbie want this for life.

Actually, I'm not quite a newbie. I did raw a few years back and felt and looked the best I had ever in my life. Since then, it's like I've done everything I can to run from it. Heavens, I don't know why because everything in me knows, it's the only way to go. Once you've tried it... known what it's like, felt THAT good, you can never, ever forget it.

So, I set tomorrow as my date to get several big bashes behind me. I've got pretty much all my shopping done, made my kitchen a raw paradise, dusted off all the raw appliances and I'm ready.

I do have one question to ask that I read in the archives of another forum. What one food do you run to when cooked temptation has you by the throat? What staple? What fix?

I think if I had one thing always on hand that sort of reminded me... or met that "comfort" need, I would feel completely ready.

So what is your "go to" food? The one thing that keeps you raw, if you have one?

(I'm thinking some kind of recipe. Fresh is ideal but some yummy to get past the first days and later temptations.)

Thanks!:p

oh i have a little sinfilled passion that keeps me rawkin' it!

oatmeal (steel cut oats or oatmeal or both)
raw cacao powder
agave

mix in a bowl. add enough agave to make it sticky.

now add shredded coconut (i buy ribbons of coconut... i love this cut it's very nice)
raisins
dried cranberries
cacao nibs
whatever you raw fancy. sometimes i cut up some dates and add them... or dried figs cut up...

mix it all up and eat with a spoon. it's sinfully delicious and totally keeps me raw!!!

Jane, where do you get your dates? I'm making a run to WH Sunday (which is a once a month deal - so far away). Do they have good dates? That's the kind of thing that would do it for me too. Thx!

Now there's a girl that speaks my language. Oh yes. This goes in the keeper files. Hugs to you!!

The "yummy" that got me through in the beginning was dates or dried figs. Many times I would eat my fill of them with cashews.

That is not the same as my "go to" comfort food. No question, that would be almond milk. Almond milk blended with dates or honey and frozen fruit. Add enough frozen fruit and its ice cream. Choosing one recipe would be tough. It suppose it would have to be almond milk, dates, cacao powder, vanilla, and frozen bananas, milkshake style.

Always remember to keep your Food prepared. Try Never to run out of things like Apples, Nuts, things that are easily attainable and you can eat right away. This keeps you from eating the wrong thing. Always carry Snack Food with you when you are away from home. Sometimes a short trip might get prolonged and you will be covered.

I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW..........Welcome to MY World.
