That's a word I haven't heard in a long time. Does your daughter have the vaccine? I know the fear that rises when your young are threaten. So I hope you find out what to do and most of all that your Baby is Not in harms way.

I think the number one thing you can and should do is not panic.

If there were a pertussis outbreak at my child's school, I would keep them home until it were under control, but that's just me.

Make sure your 8 year old is practicing good hygeine.
Keep an eye out for what appear to be cold symptoms in your children and yourself. If any of you develop cold symptoms while this outbreak is occurring, you should get it checked out.
Pertussis symptoms are much milder in adults, so if you get a cough at all, be on the alert. If one of your children develops the tell tale cough, you will know, but pertussis presents as just another cold at first, so any cold symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes) at all should be treated seriously. Even if one of your kids should contract the disease, you will act quickly and they will be treated with antibiotics. Actually, they would treat your entire family with antibiotics, which sucks but is better than taking your chances with whooping cough.
It's not something to panic over, though.

Has your 8 year old for sure had contact with an infected person? If so, you should take the child to the doctor.

If not, take the proper precautions, keep breastfeeding that baby, and try to relax.

*hugs*

When my boys are exposed to stuff. I intuitively start wearing them on me more and keeping them close to me. Its as though my own energy protects them while they are developing their own.
Lots of dark leafies in smoothies.

There is also an essential oil blend called thieves from Young Living that I know from experience will ward off and kill even crazy bacteria and virus. Also other high quality oils will enhance your and his protection. You could even find a sweet smelling one (has to be high life force) and put it on your older son when he is at school and at play.

Not the same but my 4 month old had sever pneumonia. It was sooooo scary but we made it through with no antibiotics and only immune enhancing medicine. He is the strongest of us all.... We tries EVERYTHING!!!! And it all boiled down to for us using super greens, essential oils, colloidal silver, and probiotics.

OK this is long but one more thing... you may want to look into the cell salts by Schussler sp? They are amazing and really work even for my very skeptical dh!!!

Prayers and thoughts your way for protection and peace...

and remember NOT to fear and NEVER question your heart!!!

Blessings

I had whooping cough (as an adult) and would do anything I could to protect a baby. If I were in your shoes, I'd keep my 8yeard old home until there was no more of it at school; I'd also make sure my baby was getting LOTS of breastmilk (boosts the immune system); I'd take swift action if either child showed any signs of a cold/cough.

Most of all I would listen to my intuition about what will keep my kids healthy.

Yesterday my son came home from school, and he said he didn't feel well :(
He is coughing and has tearing eyes...it is not severe though..

I give him spirulina 6 tabs a day,echinaforce,and cat's claw...
To make him stronger.

My 9 moth old son, gets breastmilk whenever he wants it,and I also put 1 tablet of spirulina through his fruit.

It is school holidays now,so they have a week off...luckely...

My son had to go swimming with scouts today really, but I told him to stay inside and take rest until he feels better again...

i was recently reading about the antibiotical powers of iodine ,
so for that and thyroid health reasons i got some powdered kelp and dulse (both high in iodine) from www.seaveg.com this winter and have been adding some to my juices every day . and this winter ive been virus free .
