I'm a 28 year old woman. I'm on my third day of my juice fast and I'm feeling really frustrated , angry and sad. I'm walking around the house crying then having outbursts of anger. I'm also extreamly irritated. Is this normal? I have been in very poor health my whole life and I've given up on the medical system. I'm hoping and praying that juice fasting will do a lot to heal my sever digestive issues, depression, fatigue, muscle and joint pain....

I'm sorry to hear you are feeling down. Have you been raw for a while, or are you starting with your fast? When I first went raw I had all kinds of emotional ups and downs. I pushed through and after a little while I felt better than ever. Be kind and gentle with yourself. You are making big changes in your life. Change is sometimes hard, but worth it!
Many ((((hugs)))) to you!!!

KEEP PUSHING ONWARD

ive done near 20 fasts the past 3 years , and the initial 5/6 were all torture pushing through the great emotional upheaval of the first several days . i felt like throwing my dining room chairs through the window i was so grumpy from not eating . but after i did several fasts they became way easier , and the torture i went through on my earlier fasts went away and it more so became a battle of will power . i'll bring back a link to my favorite fasting expert . oh and heres a site in case youve never seen =

www.juicefeasting.com ..

ps - your in faster boot camp right now rookie :D
your paying the price it takes to get in fasting shape

ahhhhhhh emotional detox. it sucks - time to gift yourself a good hug, and a warm bath - perhaps a nice cup of tea? (if you do tea)...

it will pass... (((hugs)))

it sounds like your body is really cleaning -- full force! it's not normal for some, but it's a good thing. :)

Yes...that's what I was thinking. It sounds strange I'm sure (if you've never heard of it or experienced it) but you can have basically what Aleesha called it, an 'emotional de-tox' when your body starts to heal itself. Watch the trailer for 'Raw for 30 Days' and watch the one woman who's distraught and upset saying she doesn't understand, "...what the hell's wrong with me?!" and doesn't understand why she's feeling the way she is. It's really a good thing...and yes, it will pass :)

I removed the rest of the page (comments, etc) and made it full screen for you :-) (I laughed my butt off at the guy @ 2:35)

Is this your first time on a cleansing diet? If you jumped right into a juicing routine you may be experiencing a very fast detox. Kudos to you for attempting such a feat. :)

here is my totally unmedical, untrained, naive theory...I think there is some type of genetic/cellular memory that is attached to the negative foods consumed. For example, if you went thru a particularly difficult break up and ate lots and lots of Ben and Jerry's, when your body starts dumping the toxic crud from your cells now that you are raw/fasting, the negative emotions stored with the crud get dumped too and circulate in your body for a short while. It's just my take on it.

i believe 100% in what you wrote Zaph. our bodies hold memories at the cellular level... absolutely!!! and yup... they detox as we detox. it's part of the process.

Love that theory! Negative IN, Negative OUT.

Thanks for the support and ideas. Today I got my period three weeks early..and I'm on the pill! I'm also as white as a sheet and have a thick white/yellow coating on my tongue..eeww! I did a 7 day juice fast last year, but I don't remember having so many symptoms. I read on another site that to have really deep healing the juice fast needs to be 40 days long?

you are gaining healing every moment you are on a fast... yes more comes with extended fasts... but every fast is beneficial and healing. :)
