I'm completely new to this forum and to raw foods. I am actually one week raw and I can't tell you how good it feels to know what good I'm doing for my body. I have had up's and down's with my weight my entire life. After losing a significant amout of weight with what the so called standard diet my mom took ill and had a reoccurence of breast cancer that led to it mestasizing in her brain. She just past away this Dec. Then two weeks later my dad had a heart attack. It really took me for a loop. My life should never be the same after somthing like this. Somewhere in all of this is the lesson for me to learn. Like I said my entire life my food issues have been to satisfy emotional issues not to fuel my body. I just didnt' get it. Eating that way to lose weight only to gain it back and hurting my cells constantly is not what I want. After researching Raw food and reading Alissa's book. I think I have finally gotten it. It's not a diet you go on to lose weight, to look a certain way. You eat RAW food to give your body all it needs to be healthy. You treat your body with respect by giving it the best food available and that it RAW FOOD. Raw food in it's purest form is what your body needs to do all the necessary things to do to help itself. Since cancer does run in my family there is no other option then to do myself the favor of giving my body the best foods.

So in a nutsheel, this is me. My name is Karen, Married for 13 year, 3 beautiful girls, and I also homeschool. I'm so gald I found this site for support and for information on my new journey and lessons in life. I see another Maryland girl her today so i though I would chime in as welll. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for the support I seem to see all around this site. Karen

Yoo Hoo!? I'm up in northern MD too, real close to Cecil Co. and PA border. Haven't heard of restaurant opening up there. When? Where? COOL!

Welcome to this amazing, healing forum. Get Alissa's book and DVDs. You will learn much from them.
