I just put too much salt in the fajita seasoning in which I want to marinate some portobellos. Would someone please have a suggestion as to how I can dilute the saltiness? Oh you rawbies are all so smart - I just know someone will know what to do. I was thinking squeezing some fresh tomato over them? Not sure though.

I know they say to put a piece of potato in a soup or stew if you put too much salt in. The potato absorbs the excess salt. I'm not sure if it would work the same way raw. It might be worth a try.

Hi snoops - don't see how I can do that as I've already put the marinade on top of the portobellos. Thanks anyway. This taught me a lesson which I've at last learned - always taste my food as I'm seasoning - always!

I guess its too late now but all you had to do was take it out of the Marinade, save some for later and use some by adding more water to the mix. Bottle and use the other for later. You just made a concentrated version. After you add more water, you might have to add more spices etc.

I've done this more times than I can count. Usually I just add more olive oil or some water to thin it down. Now that my tastes have changed some I also only use about 1/2 - 1/3 of the fajita mix to 1 cup of olive oil. At first I really seemed to crave the extra salt but now it's just too much.

Thanks girls but I already tried putting some fresh diced tomato on each cap last night and I'm going to put these in the dehydrator for a while today. Next time I will really be careful. :)

:) I'd added some chopped fresh tomato to these last night - hoping they would tone down and dilute the saltiness a bit. Now they are in the dehydrator and I just tasted them and they are just delicious. I am pretty excited about this as I haven't yet had too many raw things that I've really found tasty. I know that will come in time though and feeling so well is way worth the wait for the good taste. Thanks for your support rawbies.:D
