Turns out I have the book :o
Does anyone else have this book and have tried making this pie.
If you did I'm wondering if you followed the recipe especially for the filling layer 2 (chocolatesque sauce)
- Did you use the olives/olive oil?
- the spirulina?
- Is the mesquite pod meal really important? Do you know what I could substitute it for??

Well, back when I made it, and I only made it once, I would omit the cinamon and nutmeg from the crust. I think the mesquite adds a special carmel flavour, so I wouldn't skip that if you can. It can be bought for pretty cheap now.
I did not add the olives.
Now I think I would get some irish moss flakes from a brewer for like $1.99~ they are raw and soak a tbl till soft then rinse and add the ingredients.

Ok I changed up the recipe a bit and it was good but not awesome and didn't look as pretty and was hard to tell the difference between the layers...
Crust:
soaked pecans
soaked raisins
dates
raw carob powder
cinnamon
nutmeg
Layer 1
Almond butter
raisins
carob powder
Layer 2
pecans
dates
water
Topped with banana slices
Unfortunately the whole pie was one big sticky goo...
The goo was still good, we like goo but you know it wasn't ..'oh my god this is so good' goo...
Maybe this will give someone some ideas ? - I hope they share em ;)

I'm the one who you are asking about, I was petals.:)
First~ chill each layer ( no freeze) between spreading them on each other, that way they won't mush together.
I cut down the olive oil or used coconut ? can't remember
no olives
I used "your my everything" green powder because i had not what the recipe called for.
When complete chill over night, but first don't forget to get a chopstick and make pretty designs on the top layer.
