Sitting by mommy's rocking chair
Her body growing old
Waiting for the watermelon
To get nice and cold

Waiting for my tongue and mouth
To taste the ruby red delight
When Daddy takes it from the fridge
There's gonna be a fight

Mommy lines up with her plate
Daddy, he will too
Poor me, I never get any
They say, "No watermelon for you"

Hour passing after hour
Daddy's hair is turning grey
Waiting for the watermelon
To get cold today

How appropriate for a hot summer. Who is Mandy?

She is my dog, and an accomplished writer for her age. :D

Draggon (my dog) loves almond pulp, fresh, dehydrated, frozen, anyway he can get it, and today, he decided he likes fresh raspberries, we have tons growing in the back yard, and Dragggon (my man) picked a bunch for me, and brought them in to me, so OF COURSE, my dog Draggon wanted some, because it is food right?

Anyway, so we gave him one, and he ate it.

I had a different dog, a few years ago who loved white grapes, but only if they were peeled.

And I had a cat who loved potato chips, which was good, because I don't like them, and I used to get them with my cooked lunch every day at work, and bring them home to him, he was always so happy to see that little blue and yellow sack. LOL

So, Mandy does or doesn't like watermelon?

Well, I suppose that is a moot point, as she won't get any, poor little Mandy.

But, at least she gets to lay by your rocking chair and watch you sit in the shade, that is always a happy time for dogs. :o)

Our dog is Diamond-diva. She does not like to get her paws wet, if she can help it, so I can imagine that Mandy wrote the song - especially after living with Diamond, whom I am convinced goes out a night and does amazing deeds, saving people all the while she is immacualte in her grooming. :p

I use to have a dog that loved oranges and grapefruit. I lived in Fla at the time and right in the middle of an orange grove.
I liked the poem. Also can't be trusted with a whole watermelon. I will eat the whole thing in two days ;(
