I just want to put this out there for moms/dads who feel as though a gym membership is just not an option.

When I had three little ones under the age of 4 I came across the deal of a lifetime. If I volunteered to work at the local women's gym for 2 1/2 hours a week in the nursery (I could bring the kids) in return I would get a full gym membership. That included 2 hours a day of day care for the kids (daily showers for me) and all the perks of a regular membership. Body fat analysis etc... Since that time in my life I have come to realize that most gyms offer programs like this and some even pay you for the couple of hours you work. What a great deal for everyone. The children get to leave home everyday and meet others, usually do a project of some sort like at a "real" pre-school program. Mom's get that oh so wonderful "me" time. Like I said before, daily showers! You will leave feeling amazingly refreshed and ready to go.

Just start calling places and ask to talk to someone who works in the nursery/day care. When you check into joining a gym for some reason they never tell struggling moms and dads about this wonderful option. But it is usually there so don't be afraid to ask. For me I got an $800 yearly membership for just a little of my time that would have been spent with my children anyway.

Good Luck to all.

I'm so glad that worked out for you and I hope others have similar success! :)
Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like you both made out. Gyms are usually less crowded in the day, when a yound Mother would bring her Children. For them (the gym) they would seem to have a full house and seem more attrictive to others.

Thanks for Sharing, I'm sure you will make some Young Mother's Day, looking for a Break.

I've actually been looking for places that I can offer my services to in exchange for some kind of membership, too.

It's basically why I work anyway in order to barter cash. :)
