Hi...
Im usually a Kalamata boy... Love them. But I was wondering, whats the different taste of a black olive? Im not new to the rawfood luncheon, So I know where to get them raw etc, But the one time I tried black olives by Living Tree years ago, I couldnt eat them, they were soooo salty. Are all sun dried salt cured black olives that way?

My favorite black olives are Sunfood Greek olives. Moroccan is similiar but spicier. Seven olives have 220mg of sodium. They are both sundried and cured in olive oil. I only eat 7-8 at a time because of the salt. If it is too much salt for you try soaking them and changing the water several times.
I have also tried two different brands of dry pack (no olive oil) sundried black olives. Those were both much saltier and had a very different flavor.
The only other black olive I've tried was Sunfood's Peruvian, no salt, but very musty flavor. They are my least favorite. They should be soaked before you eat them.
They all taste so different. Be nice if you could sample them first.

All Olives are Salty because of the way they are Cured, which is in a Brime, which makes them Olives. As mentioned, you can soak some of the Salt out. I happen to Love Black Olives. I go to Ralphs and sample their Olives and try to figure out which ones are RAW. I know most are Not but its Fun.
