Hello all,
I'm new to all these raw stuff - only just stumbled on it online few days ago. I'm used to cooked meals, meat & the associated bits. I'm finding it a bit tough going raw as i only know fruits & a couple of veggies that can be eaten raw. I'm not working so can not buy a dehydrator now, but I have a smoothie maker. Can anyone please help me on my Raw journey?

do you have alissa's book or dvd? I would start there... maybe get both if you can afford it... if not, I would get the book for starters.

Look on meetup.com and see if there are any raw food groups in your area and if so go to them! the people there can help you out I'm sure...

also, keep it simple! when I started I was constantly trying to make a ton of recipes and I got burned out.

Drink green smoothies, at least one big one a day for a meal.. that will help you out. Make a smoothie with water, spinach or any dark greens, add fruit or frozen fruit and maybe something to sweeten it since you are just starting out.. dates or agave syrup. drink that.. eat fruit for snacks.. have big salads.. even if you have to go to subway or some place to get your salad (just don't get all that meat and dressing and cheese on it)...

and NO MATTER WHAT.. BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF! If you aren't doing 100% raw all the time.. THAT'S OKAY! It's a process.. it's a journey.. take your time and you will find yourself where you want to be!

Hi Madio!

I'm freshly raw as well and I quit meat, dairy and eggs cold turkey. I found it easy, but I really think that the richer fruits, nuts and veggies helped me out a lot in transitioning!

I've been eating approximately 2 avocados each day and I'll use coconut oil or coconut here and there. The pecans that I love help as well!

Do you just feel starving all the time? I find that delicious cabbage and carrot salads are pretty filling. Let me know if I can do anything to support you!

hi Madio,
good advice here. i am 2.5 weeks into 100%. i started at 75% for the 2 weeks prior to that. some people find gradual change-over is easier, but i didn't. if i allowed myself any cooked food, it didnt hewlpme 1) with staying raw b/c it made it "legal" to cheat; and 2) it didnt help with perceiving the health bernefits b/c they were diluted or masked. but, that is just my opinion and everyone is diff.
living in a bigger city makes it far easier than a small town where organic is hard to find and/or 3 x as much as non-organic. i tried to stay VERY full at all times so that i wasn't tempted out of hunger and a convenient source for sustenance *in the moment*.
i have a D and a J on order and those 2 things will make it FAR easier. meanwhile, i put just about every raw veggie i can find into a salad...GOOD LUCK!!! this forum is a great source of info, so read all you can. Alissa's book i THE BOMB!

welcome to the board :) Just try some new combinations or do a search in the recipe section. Have fun!

You could join the monthly challenge any day of the month. You will get lots of support and meal ideas. Each participant list what they have eaten for the day. Most are very simple with little prep.

If you are strapped for money, I think there is a frugal raw group on this site.

When you do get the money, buy Alissa's book. I just metioned in another thread that her book has all the information and recipes you need to confidently go and stay raw.

Good luck!
