Hi! Today is day number one of the raw food diet for me and my husband. We have tried before and were never successful, but I just recieved Alissa Cohen's book and am very excited to start! I was wondering how many servings her recipes yield. Will there be enough for both my husband and myself to share? Any leftovers for his lunch the next day? Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

There's really no substitute for trying the recipes and finding out for yourself - a lot would have to do with the level of physical exertion you and your partner undertake each day. One thing that many new Raw-fooders (and I am one, too) find out pretty quickly is that it takes a surprising amount of unadulterated fruit and veg to yield the number of calories you'll have become accustomed to consuming in smaller (empty-calorie-laden) SAD meals. If you take the approach of eating approximately the same subjective quantity of Raw food as you are used to doing on the SAD, you will not be consuming enough calories in the long term. In short - be aware of the fact that larger portion sizes with Raw foods are nothing to be afraid of - in fact, you should be careful to consume adequate amounts! Monitor your weight as you ease yourself into Raw food and you'll find your own requirements soon enough.

YES! There will be enough, most of Alissa's recipes make a large amount. Plenty for you and your husband and leftovers for the next day. I love that her recipes make a lot that way i always have enough for a few days for myself.
which ones are you thinking of making?

Thanks for the info! I just made some pesto for zucchini pasta, and it looks like there will be enough.
