I had gone without eating unsoaked raw nuts for a decent amount of time untill the past weekend when i was on a trip, and I didnt have the ability to soak them, so I ate them straight from the bag. Ever since then, I have had the worst cramping, bloating, gas and stomach pains I have ever had. It got so bad that I had to break down and take some mylanta and gas-x, which I know i shouldn't have. That was thursday and now its monday morning and I'm still feeling it. It will calm down for a while, and i think i'll be ok, and then i'll eat something and it starts up again. Its like theres an air pocket in my stomach, that acts up everytime I eat. Ever since i ate the unsoaked nuts, anything i put into my stomach sets it off again. I was wondering what you guys do for upset stomachs and things of that nature. I was thinking of fasting for a day, just to rid myself of anything that may be causing the upset-ness. My stomach seems to get this way after I eat unsoaked nuts, or if i'm making food for the week or a big occasion, and i snack of a bunch of different things at the same time, which again, i know is a no-no for me, but its so hard not to! :-( it sucks big time. any ideas?

You might try apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to add more acid to your stomach, so you can digest what is in there.

Peppermint is an excellent stomach calmer.

Personally, I would drink only water and eat only apple sauce, it has a lot of fiber, is easy on the stomach, comes in many flavors, tastes good, is easy to digest, and will clean you out pretty quick.

It's what I eat when I don't feel well.

The reason you MUST soak nuts is so you can release the enzyme inhibitors in them, and NOT put them in your body.

OR, you can eat nuts that don't need soaking, like walnuts, pecans, pinenuts, macademias, although some people have a challenge with all the oils.

Personally, I love nuts and eat what I consider to be a lot of them, about 1/4 to 1/2 cup a day. (usually in recipes) although I will pop 2 or 3 brazil nuts in my mouth, and that pretty much settles me on snacking for the entire night.

Also, peppermint tea is great for tummy upset.

I especially love to drink ginger and lemon tea by the "Yogi" tea company. I sweeten it with stevia and stevia is known for it's tummy sooting effects, also. My tummy gets nauseated frequently in this summer heat, but this tea does the trick.

You can also eat candied ginger, which is good for this, too. or make your own if you have a dehydrator. Then you can add your kind of sweetener to it.

What raw preistess said is good advice.

Ginger is a wonderful soother for the tummy. I also suggest that you may desire to fast for a day on lemon and ginger water, and ensure that you have bowel movements. I have had this situation and once my body rid itself of the waste, I was okay.
