I will be there for 5 days next week while my hubby is working. Though I have been really struggling to get back to the raw level I was at this time last year, I need to know where to get good produce and someplace at least raw friendly to eat. I will be in a motel room, so I need easy fruit and veg, also what is at best for this season there. any help would be appreciated. thanks, I really miss the support.

Eating raw is easy in St.Pete. I get fabulous fruit at Publix. There's a good grocery store called Natural Market (I think) in St.Petersburg on Central (?) (I think that's the street name) They have wheatgrass and premade raw treats like coconut balls and such. ALSO, there is a really good raw restaurant in Tampa called Grassroots. Very very good. Sabrina's Favorite Sandwich is awesome. www.thegrassrootlife.com

There is a restaurant in St Pete called Leafy Greens Cafe and they do a large range of raw food. I have tried it and I would recommend it.
It is at 409 Central Avenue.

Grass Roots in Tampa is great as well but the superbowl is on in Tampa so it will be chaos for the weekend.
All of the supermarkets carry the large papayas and they are ripe enough to eat. I can make a meal of one of those. I was in Wallmart yesterday and bought about 6 and I was in Publix later and they were so nice that I had to buy more.

Thanks, they sound great. I leave from Chicago on Tue. evening, there til Sunday afternoon. Yeah, I'm glad I'm missing the superbowl, but I was hoping for the kind of weather you'll be having next week. I will be on foot for some or most of the time, and staying at the Bilmar on Gulf Blvd, do you think any of the places you mentioned are within walking distance? I'll look them up too.

That hotel is 20 mins away from down town St Pete by car. You would never walk it.
I do not know of any place over by the beach that does raw food. I do not have transport either so I can not come and get you. Pity. I am bunking with a friend but we are within walking distance of down town..

I found one HFS on Central ave., Nature's finest foods. I can walk there 2.5 miles from the hotel, over the causeway. If I do get the car, I could meet you, I'll try to stay in touch. I have printed some directions, and the menu for grassroots, but I'm not sure if that one is going to work, still working on some others.

I just went round to Leafy Green and they are closed. They say that they are opening up in a new location but not yet.

Nature's Finest Foods, that's the one I was talking about! It's great.
Hey Sport! It's cool to see someone on the board in St. Pete. Are you on vacation or live there part time? I stay at the Sabal Palm three times per year. I go with my bf and WATCH him eat at the Seahorse.

I know I will go back if I get the chance. Lots of HFS. I went to Nature's finest's juice bar 2x, Nature's food Patch, Rollin Oats, and also Publix. Found that Leafy Greens had closed, but went down the street to Central Cafe on Friday just before the street concerts/party crowd, my hubby had a chicken/veggie wrap. Robert was so sweet and understanding that I needed something other than what was offered so he custom made me something, not all raw, but vegan. He made my nourishment his personal mission, we even had a hug. We also went to Grassroots in Tampa, their beautiful daughter Sasha was our server. I had a lovely salad and raw pizza, they use alot of cashew in the sheezes, but it was very delicious and satisfying, my hubby had a vegan parmasan/ pasta dish, that he raved about, a delightful experience. The place had an earthy, but clean hippy vibe. I really was not prepared for the wind chill factor, so I spent most of the time in the room, but the view from there was great, at least it was sunny.
Thank you for helping me out.
