Hi Levve! Welcome!
Cooked rice, even brown rice, is not raw. Sprouted wild rice is an option, but I never had a taste for it. Buckwheat groats are GREAT as a carb option that is not your average fruit or veggie.
You can find hulled buckwheat groats in almost all health food stores. You would then soak them in a jar or bowl for 20 minutes. After that, you rinse well every 4-8 hours, then after about a day, they're fully sprouted. It sounds like more than just cooking rice, but it just becomes part of the routine. I like to dehydrate them for about 10 hours to use them as cereal (with almond milk) or have them in dehydrated pizzas or calzones. You can eat them just salted too though.

Thanks for the quick answer Eva :)
Anyone here workout alot and is raw?, does it work well?, and i do not mean like workout 2 times a week, i mean going to the gym 4 times a week and building muscles...
Me again haha.
I was running several days a week in the summer and doing Bikram yoga, found that buckwheat and green smoothies were both vital. I ran long distances for several years, so over the summer I was looking for something to "carb load" like I did then, and buckwheat was my answer. That's why I shared it.
I do not currently workout vigorously... I know raweater does and a few other people on the board, so maybe you will find more input soon. :)

Hemp is a good to use.
Sun Warrior is a special sprouted whole grain brown rice powder that many body builders swear by.
Eventually most give up grains once raw for awhile.

You should get Alissa's book and DVD.....they will help you with alot of the questions your asking......AND......she works out daily and does wieghts etc. There are pictures of her in the book and she certianly isn't lacking for energy or muscles. She does this through a raw and living food diet. Good Luck!

I feel like my main question has not been answered :)
can i soak wholegrain rice?
is it like soaking other rices? (like Eva said, first 20 minutes, then rinse, then wait a day and change water evrey 8 hours...)
and what sort of protein sources do you guys use?
iam afraid that going raw without eating rice will be hard.. just eating a avocado and some nuts dosent fill my tummy :(
Sprouted WILD rice is an option. Regular rice does not actually sprout.
Now, if you chose to eat regular rice, it actually DOES improve digestibility by soaking before cooking.
My suggestion before was regarding buckwheat, which is similar to a grain. It is NOT a grain, although it is often misclassified.
I hope that helps. :)
Do you have buckwheat yet? That really is one of your best options to obtain that full feeling. I also make a bread that is part ground flax, part regular flax, water, sunflower seeds, some sea salt, and sundried tomatoes. It does make me feel full.
Avocados also make me feel full.
The feeling is different from what you are used to on a cooked diet. You will never get the "stuffed" feeling from an average, filling raw meal.

Hey Eva :)
Ok.. im going to the store right now to buy buckwheat and Sprouted rice :).
Buckwheat and grain can be soaked using the same method?
do you soak sprouted rice with the same method?
hmm, i guess i do not want the "full" feeling from the cooked meal.. i just want to stay full and not hungry in like 3 hours..
ok, you "bread that is part ground flax, part regular flax, water, sunflower seeds, some sea salt, and sundried tomatoes. "
as protein sources ?
You will get plenty of protein on raw food. I know it seems strange. I always assumed I got my protein from meat, but ALL food has protein. Just keep up your calories and eat more if you need to.
As for sprouting rice -- I actually don't do that, so I'm not the person to give advice. Maybe someone else will share information about that. I have been satisfied enough without rice. Thank goodness!

I do work out every day too. Running feels great on raw. You just have to make sure you get enough of v.B12 and iron (spinach, greens, beetroot).Happy time!

After a longer run I just look forward to a lot of fruits to eat. Green smoothies are also a great way to tank.
Levve I also lift weights at least 3 times a week. Sometimes heavy other times I'll do a cross training with intervals on the treadmill running mixed with lifting. Last week a lady said that when grains like 6-corn are freshly grinded that it ignites more protein into the system. I'm not sure how true that is, but sometimes I'll mix this with a granola/muesli from Rapunzal with banana and almond milk in the morning. For two months I've been 90% raw and have only noticed more strength in my workouts.
all the best

when im 100% raw i have so much energy, i feel like i can run and workout forever. obviously this isnt going to be the same for everybody but i eat loads of fruit which gives me the energy.
when you get a bit more confident in what ypur eating and listening to your body, you will find out what works for you.
buckwheat....might try that one!!
