I love grapefruit and bought 3- they were on sale 3/1.00. I do not have a juicer and would like to do something with them. do you have a favorite smoothie with grapefruit? Have you ever just blended one fruit in the vitamix no ice or frozen fruit? I am new to my vitamix.

I cut off the peel leaving as much pith as possible, cut it to remove any big seeds, then blend it in the vitamix. Usually I blend it with a lemon (peeled the same way), a handful of cranberries, a T. of maple syrup, and a t. of powdered kelp. But just a grapefruit would be good, too.

Send the grapefruit through a juicer first. No need to mess with seeds and pith!

I do sometimes, but why clean the juicer if I don't have to. Besides I like the fiber and pith in the smoothie. Totally different flavor and texture than grapefruit juice.

You can also use a Reamer to juice the Grapefruit. I am So Happy you got a Vita-Mix.

We blended one with the seeds once and it was so bitter we couldn't drink it

I make the same smoothie, using agave and green powder instead or leaving it unsweetened. I little olive oil or flax oil makes it nice and creamy. Actually, the pith and seeds are very beneficial and it's less expensive to use the entire fruit than make juice. Both are great of course.

I just did a grapefruit/banana smoothie 2 days ago and it was super good. I also did a banana/orange/blueberry one this morning. The citrus is super refreshing and I didn't have to add as much water (I like my smoothies a little thinner in consistency). I just threw in the whole peeled grapefruit in chunks - same with the orange. But I have a really good blender.
